Getting your hands on tickets for BlizzCon 2015

If you’re planning on attending BlizzCon 2015, prepare yourself — because the most difficult part of that process is getting your hands on a ticket. This year, Blizzard is returning to Eventbrite for ticket handling, with a few changes to the process. You’ll be able to get tickets on the following dates:

This year, instead of patiently waiting for the day that BlizzCon ticket bar-codes are mailed out, you’ll get your bar-code immediately after purchasing your ticket. And if you forget or misplace your printout, your ticket bar-code will be available to view or reprint as needed through your Eventbrite account. When you purchase your tickets, you’ll be asked to fill out email addresses for any additional people you’re purchasing tickets for, but don’t worry, that’s not set in stone — you can change attendee information up until August 14.

In addition, some changes have been made to the way that Eventbrite runs their waiting room. Hopeful attendees who reach the front of the waiting list will not be sent back to the event page if their turn comes up but the number of tickets they’ve requested are not available, they will simply remain in the waiting room and retain their position in line until the appropriate number of tickets are released back for sale. Note, however, that this means you can’t change the amount of tickets you’d like to purchase while you are waiting in line. So make sure you know how many tickets you definitely want to purchase before you step in line.

Blizzard has posted a handy ticket purchasing guide on their website, and anyone who is interested in purchasing tickets for the event should take a look at it. This includes attendees for last year, as there have been updates to the process since last year’s convention. You can take a look at their guide on the official website for more details. Want to get tickets of your own? Here are our top tips:

  • Set up your Eventbrite account if you don’t have one. If you do have one, log in to double check that your information is correct.
  • Be at your computer and logged on to the Eventbrite site before ticket sales go live for the day. Tickets sell out incredibly fast, so if you aren’t online when sales start you’ll probably miss your chance.
  • Make sure you know how many tickets you’re buying — you won’t be able to change the number once you get in the digital line.
  • Have your credit card handy so you can confirm your information. Eventbrite won’t let you change your card information other than at checkout, so be sure to have your card at hand.

If you don’t get tickets in the first round, don’t give up hope — there are two ticket sales windows and even if you don’t grab a ticket during either, you may well be able to pick one up from someone who has extras. Remember, names and information on tickets can change up until August, so there will be time to pick up spares from friends or guildmates.

Good luck and we’ll see you at BlizzCon!
