The Queue: Disgusted noises

I’m pretty sure this is the best selfie I’ve ever taken on my draenei character, and it has nothing to do with my character and everything to do with the utterly disgusted glare from the woman behind her. I do find myself wishing that we had “pose” buttons on our camera bars that would let us do an emote with a push of a button while we were happily snapping our selfies. I almost think I’d like that better than the camera filters!

BLAZENOR ASKED:

I might have missed something, where do you get the 300% experience boost potion from?

There’s a few different places you can get the Elixir of Ancient Knowledge. The rare Krol the Blade in the Dread Wastes will sometimes drop it, as well as the Archiereus of Flame on the Timeless Isle. Rares in Nagrand will sometimes drop a Partially-Digested Bag that can contain it as well. There have also been reports that people have gotten the item via garrison missions (salvage crates, I’m assuming), but I’ve never actually seen one from there myself, so I’m assuming the drop rate must be pretty low.

Basically it’s a fun item if you can get your hands on it, but you aren’t going to stash a stockpile of the things without some serious farming — and all that time you spend farming up the potions could just as well be spent on leveling your alt the old fashioned way, anyway.

ITSDEEPS COMMENTED:

I never thought I’d see the day that Anne wouldn’t jump at the chance to get extra bag space. even if it was just one slot…

It’s honestly just because I have some weird attachments to what my character carries around. The hearthstone is one of them, it’s just an iconic thing by now, something that’s always in my character’s bags. Pocket Lint is another thing I usually have tucked away in my bags. Why? No actual advantageous reason at all — I just figure it makes sense that if you’re carrying around a lot of bags all the time, you’re going to find lint in there.

I can’t be the only one that has a few things that must always be in my bags, just because — do you guys have anything in your bags that’s just there for your own quirky reasons? I had a friend who used to carry a Rabbit’s Other Foot around all the time.

WILLEX86 ASKED:

QTFQ: so what exactly are the Demi gods from the war of the ancients? Tortolla, avianna, cenarius, Goldrinn, Malone? Where did they come from?

Those demi-gods are actually the Ancients — or Ancient Guardians if you take a look in the manual for Warcraft III,  but WoW has always just used the term Ancients, I believe. Azeroth has a lot of protectors to keep it safe, some of them Titan-created or empowered, like the Titan Watchers or the Dragon Aspects. And then some of them just … arrived, spawned by Azeroth itself.

They’ve been around forever, and they represent all kinds of things. The August Celestials in Pandaria are kind of Pandaria’s version of the Ancients, unique to the island, but similar enough in power and scope to the Ancients up in Hyjal. Trolls refer to the Ancients as loa — it’s possible that the loa they worship are just different versions of various creatures that the night elves would call Ancients, in their own tongue.

Why they came about and exactly what their purpose is hasn’t been clearly defined — but one assumes that purpose is pretty much the same as the Titan-generated creations: Protect the world from what threatens it.

WANDERER ZIU’ZIN ASKED:

Q4tQ: I heard from a friend that you can now run old LFR raids, I have looked a fair bit into it and can’t for the life of me find out how to do it. If anyone knows I’d be eternally grateful for any advice!

To run the old Dragon Soul raid, speak to Auridormi in the Caverns of Time. For the Mists of Pandaria raids, as well as old scenarios, speak to the pandaren NPCs at the Seat of Knowledge in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms.

GALDWYNN ASKED:

Q4tQ: Why isn’t there a search bar for achievements?

I imagine it’s because when achievements first came out, there weren’t really enough of them to warrant a search bar — they were found easily enough by the menu. We’ve had them for so long now though, and so many new ones have been added, that I think it’d be way more convenient to have one in now. Maybe next expansion?

LUOTIANX ASKED:

I play Sims, Mass Effect, WoW, and Skyrim– I like RPGs and highly customizable games. I am TERRIBLE at ROTS games. With that in mind, is there a reason for me to pick up Starcraft?

I’m not really very good at RTS games either! But StarCraft has a pretty cool story and a fun single-player campaign that you can go through without having to worry about the multiplayer aspect of the game at all. If you like the way Blizzard tells stories in their other games, you might want to pick it up just for that, if you happen to find it on sale at some point.

RETIEF94 ASKED:

Q4TQ:  Anyone have any idea when Bliz typically drops the expac price?

Typically not until the next expansion is about to be released. Sometimes you’ll see it go on sale, either at the Blizzard Store or through various retailers, but they don’t actually drop the price until they’ve got another expansion nearly ready to launch.
