The Queue: Wrathion’s Egg, Pandaria and the Dragonflights, Dance Studio

Hi. I’m Matt. This is The Queue. Here are some questions and some answers.

What if Deathwing’s experiment on Wrathions egg was to place a horcrux like implant on Wrathion? And then the whole ending of the Cataclysm was his plan to drain the remaining flights of there immortality..

Deathwing didn’t experiment on Wrathion’s egg. A member of the Red Dragonflight did. Rheastrasza, the red dragon in question, actually forced a black dragon named Nyxondre into laying eggs which she then uses as part of an experiment with a Titan artifact to purify them. Deathwing not only wasn’t behind the experiments, he sought out Rheastrasza and killed her for having dared to try and purify his dragonflight, and burned what he believed was the egg she’d created in the process.

So if he thought Wrathion was his phylactery through which he’d be reborn, he tried awfully hard to kill himself.

Q4TQ: Did the dragonflights know about Pandaria before the mists parted, and if so, could they actually travel there? I get why they probably didn’t tell us about it (because, I mean, look what we did to it) but was just curious.

They most likely did, yes — we know that the ancient Pandaren actually engaged in limited trade with the night elves, so at least before the Sundering it’s very likely the dragons knew about them (they monitored the mortal races back then). Whether they could part the Mists is unknown, but since the Mists were actually a creation of the Sha of Pride, I would assume that they would have had difficulty doing so.

Q4TQ: It’s been mentioned forever, it’s somehow simultaneously a joke and a serious request, it’s the perfect example for a variety of questions about expansion announcements, but one question remains for me: what actually was the Dance Studio? Like, what are people picturing that never got added? Just a way to see your particular character model do all 26 gender-race dance variations? If it would have done more than that: what? If that was it: why would that even be something people were interested in, and if I’m just crazy, why hasn’t some graphic designer just made an independent version in the years since?

These are all good questions but here’s the thing: The Dance Studio never existed. We never had any more information on it other than that it was coming, and then it didn’t. So we don’t know what it was. If someone at Blizzard ever saw a version of it, they never shared this information with us. It’s vaporware, essentially. It’s become an in-joke to the player base because it never actually was anything at all.

We can all speculate on what it would have been, but that’s all we’re doing.

Q4TQ: How soon do you preacquire transmog gear? My level 46 Elf Hunter now has all her level 100 BOEs for transmog.

I got my Death Knight (she’s level 61) Ashkandi and Bonereaver’s Edge. That’s how far ahead. (Plus, I’m actually using them.)

Has flying been pushed back or is it still going to be implemented on or about soon?

It’s on the PTR right now. We don’t know when, exactly, it’ll be deployed to live servers but sometime between now and late September would be my guess.
