Breakfast Topic: I have never been to BlizzCon

I’ve been writing about Blizzard Entertainment and the games it makes professionally since 2007. And yet, I’ve never been to a single BlizzCon, and it’s not likely to change. This is at once a source of great sadness to me — I’ve never gotten to meet any of the people who work on the game, never met my coworkers in the flesh, and never gotten to see and play any of the cool demos or ask questions or anything like that.

I’m not super-depressed about it, but it does make me wonder if I’m unique in this regard. How many of you have never gone? My reasons are a combination of health, finances and my incredible fear of crowds, but that’s just me. Have you always wanted to go but somehow never managed it? Are you like me, forever watching all the cool stuff on the stream but never actually there? One year my coworkers got me BlizzCon in a Box, and that was incredibly cool and awesome of them. Got any similar stories to share?
