Heroes summer regionals and roster changes

Now that Heroes of the Dorm is behind us, it’s time for the pro matches in the Global Summer Circuit to start really heating up. The brackets have largely shaken out how you’d expect in other regions, but NA saw lots of team changes so matches have been hotly contested while the new comps try to prove themselves. Don’t retire those Heroes of the Storm-themed thundersticks just yet!

A bulk of the roster changes are somewhat related to Dorm. Michael Udall and akaface, two players from the victorious ASU team, swapped from Panda Global to Gale Force Esports. GFE also added Roflcopter from Tennessee, another Heroic Four team. Team Blaze — which features several members from runner-up UT Arlington — picked up Apauloh, who was a longtime member of Pool Plato Some Tangos and the Boston College Dorm team ousted by UT Arlington in the round of 8. Pool Plato Some Tangos, now Pool Plato Yet More Tangos, picked up DanLeefor3 from UConn, and also nabbed Srey, who left Tempo Storm a few months ago. For their part, Tempo Storm talked roster changes in a video message from team captain Zoia, noting that they acquired Tomster from Gust or Bust and the controversial player erho previously from Naventic.

There’s a reason Gosugamers dubbed this the “rosterpocalypse”. The full bracket from the first week of all this madness is on battlefy.

On another Dorm side note Kladeous, from second place finisher UT Arlington, grabbed the top spot on the official Heroes of the Storm Hero League rankings for March.

A shout out to Jared “Zoia” Eggleston this week for not only casting the NA regional games, but also hosting the English cast for the China regionals, aka Gold Hero League. He’s been getting up super early to hit the China games, casting all day, then swapping over to the NA cast, and while Gillyweed wraps up her Dorm duties he’s been doing so without a partner. Zoia will cast solo again with GHL at 1am CST on Saturday April 16th, and then Gilly will join him at noon CST on Saturday the 16th for NA regional qualifiers. The qualifiers will wrap up on Sunday, starting Sunday at noon CST. This is all over on Gillyweed’s Twitch channel, which has an adorable currency-related minigame to play while you’re there.
