The Queue: Schrödinger’s background

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!

MISTAH JAY ASKED:

When will the BlizzardWatch background turn back to normal?

Soon! In fact, it might have been changed back by the time this post goes live. Or maybe not. Who knows? Time (and the fabric of reality) is only a suggestion in the world of publishing! … or whatever.

We wanted it up for the May 23 and 24, but now it’s May 25 so it goes away whenever Adam has an opportunity to turn it all off.

GNOMEPRIEST ASKED:

Anybody else a little bit annoyed that the Transmog rewards are faction specific?  I was really hoping to get to use the Staff of Guldan on my Worgen lock

I was actually surprised when my Alliance character only received the sword and shield last night, but it makes sense in hindsight. While I wouldn’t particularly care if the Horde could equip the sword and shield, they are distinctly Alliance items. They use Alliance colors, Alliance symbols such as the lion, and so forth. The Horde receiving them doesn’t make too much sense if the devs are trying to maintain distinct aesthetics. While the items the Horde receives are less obviously tied to the Horde we know in WoW, it’s only fair the Alliance doesn’t get to use them.

JABRONE77 ASKED:

How many alts are you actually going to play in Legion? By that I mean, play through most if not all of the things?

I have 12 max level characters, and while I plan to get them all at least to level cap, I’m maybe only going to play 2 or 3 seriously. How about you?

This isn’t something I plan in advance. How many characters I play entirely depends on how much I’m enjoying the content. At the start of an expansion, I start out with my main, play the heck out of it, then branch out into 2-3 alts. I usually get them to max level, do some solo/small group stuff at max level, then leave them there. If I play anything else, it depends on whether the content is still fun. Often, I’ll take long breaks during an expansion, then return after a few months and play different alts. Right now in Warlords, for example, I didn’t play much at all for  many moons, but I’ve leveled two new characters to max level in just the last month or so.

I have more fun by living in the moment. I don’t plan these things. I play whatever I feel like playing. Bored of my Paladin? Maybe I’ll play a Priest. Or a Mage. Or a Warrior. Or maybe I’ll take a break and play something else, because a different game sounds more fun at that particular moment. Sticking to a plan makes the whole process much less fun for me.

CHRTH ASKED:

Is there a Void Storage vendor in Dalaran (Broken Isles)?

Yes. He’s in the bank(s).

DRAGAUR ASKED:

Which Overwatch character should be added to Heroes of the Storm next?

I don’t remember where I saw it (our comments? Twitter? Twitch chat?), but someone said they wanted to see D.Va in Heroes of the Storm and now I do, too. She’d be a master at area denial with her ability to block ranged attacks, detonate her mech suit (or have it destroyed), then slip away to live another day. I don’t think that’s something we’ve seen in Heroes yet and it would be a blast.

Though I’d take any and all Support characters from Overwatch, too. The Support role has become stagnant in Heroes and even just a few more options to choose from when picking a character would be nice, even if they aren’t dramatically different from the ones we already have.

DOBABLO ASKED:

They have Warcraft in the Overwatch universe? I hadn’t noticed that. Of course they have Starcraft and Hearthstone, but I haven’t seen any Elves.

The Hollywood map has a movie set with a Warcraft theme, so I assume Warcraft exists, yes. And we also know Hearthstone exists, and Hearthstone‘s full title is Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, so… there aren’t any characters who say something like “I love Warcraft!” but it’s safe to say it exists. Every Blizzard game exists in the Overwatch world except for Overwatch … I’d hope.

OMEDON ASKED:

maybe it’s been mentioned deep in some Q+A that I missed, but has it been said when the “daily victory” counter resets in Overwatch?  It’s a big chunk of XP and I’d like to at least grab that once a day.

I don’t actually know, but I would assume it resets at the same time as every other daily-timer thing in Blizzard’s other games. Daily quests in WoW reset at 3 a.m. Pacific. Daily quests in Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm tend to reset at the same time, sometimes with a delay of up to an hour if things are wonky. If everything else resets at 3 a.m. Pacific, I imagine Overwatch would, too.
