Breakfast Topic: I still have the discs

I still have my original World of Warcraft game discs from 2004. We’re doing some post-flood cleanup and one of the boxes we had stored contained those discs (in addition to the original Diablo and Diablo 2 discs as well as Starcraft) and we immediately knew there was no way we were ever getting rid of those.

In fact, I’m in the process of re-installing Diablo as I type this.

One of the things I’ve always liked about Blizzard games is the presentation and packaging on the physical copies. My Burning Crusade collector’s edition sits next to my Cataclysm Collector’s Edition, and I love flipping through the art books, listening to the soundtracks, and generally just looking over the presentation. It’s top notch and it’s one of the things I miss the most about having gone digital deluxe the last couple of expansions. I don’t have the discs. I can’t hold them in my hands the way I can original WoW and the expansions up to Cataclysm.

I know we’re in an age of digital downloads, and I’ve gone that route — I’ve gone digital download for Mists, Warlords and now Legion. And overall I haven’t really regretted it, despite not getting the cool art book and extras, but I do really miss having those discs.

Now I’m going to go play Diablo. Original flavor, even. I have a good feeling about that Deckard Cain guy. But before I do, I have to know. Have you held on to your old discs? Do you still order Collector’s Editions? Or have you gone full digital and never looked back?
