What’s your favorite quest?

WoW has more quests than I can count — or at least more than I’m going to bother trying to count — but there are certainly some that stand out from the rest. Sure, there’s a massive number of “kill ten rats” or “gather ten bear paws” quests that are ultimately forgettable (or at least you’ll want to forget spending an hour killing bears who seem to have no paws) but there are gems, too. Whenever I think about my favorite quests, I think back to Welcome to the Machine, a Horde quest in Hillsbrad Foothills that requires you to be the quest-giver for a while. After all, giving out quests — and taking the brunt of players’ unhappiness about gathering bear paws — has to be an exhausting, thankless job. (Though, you might say, so is gathering bear paws in the first place.) Welcome to the Machine puts you on the other side, at least for a little while.

But if you enjoy epic (rather than silly) quests, there are some of those, too. The quest to open Ahn’Qiraj was a heck of an experience, though only a few players were able to complete it — unfortunately, it was a solo quest and once the gates opened it was gone. Class Hall quests have been great, too. I loved doing the Shaman quest chain where you unite all of the elemental lords to fight the Legion — though some have felt less epic than others — like when Monk had to collect bandages for the fight. (Which, coincidentally, reminded me of the worst part of opening up Ahn’Qiraj.)

Out of all the quests you’ve done in World of Warcraft, do you have a favorite? What kinds of quests would you like to see Blizzard focus on in the future?
