The Queue: Gold is just the best

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!

IOES ASKED:

The main thing I like about Suramar is that Shal’Aran is a hub that you can grow the more exploring you do, like you go out and find some guy in a graveyard you help him and then he shows up at Shal’Aran.

So my QftQ is: do you like hubs that are just here it is and that is what you get, or hubs where you get the start of it and the more you explore the more it expands?

I think it worked well as something special. I don’t think every quest hub needs to be like that, but it certainly is nice for an endgame location. Building the Nesingwary Camp in Highmountain wouldn’t have had the same oomph as turning Shal’Aran into a proper sanctuary. At endgame, though, having a sense of progression not only through quest text but also the surrounding environment is pretty amazing. Many aspects of Suramar, including that progression, made the zone feel like a “real” video game rather than a lifeless MMO.

SAIK ASKED:

Can someone explain this HotS mount promotion to me? I’ve never played HotS, and I’d be really quite bad, because I tried out LoL way back and I was utter trash. But the mount makes me want to dabble in it. How many wins (losses??)? I think I heard something about an AI mode too?

You need to play 15 games as a Warcraft character while grouped with a friend. You don’t need to win those matches, only play them. The easiest way to do it (and the easiest way to learn the game) is to play vs. the AI. To access that, you hit “Play” in the upper left, choose the Versus A.I. option, and then in the lower left, you can customize the AI difficulty and all of that jazz.

AZVOLRIEN ASKED:

Do some emissary quests appear less often than others or do I just keep missing Court of Farondis when it’s up? I feel like I’ve seen it much less than, say, Valarjar or Highmountain Tribes.

I don’t know for a fact either way, but I’ve always been under the impression the Emissaries were on a more-or-less equal rotation other than the Kirin Tor sticking their noses into things once in awhile. Certainly, there’s a limit to how often a certain emissary can show up, because the game allows three emissaries to stack up before expiring. So if the Valarjar showed up today, they can’t show up again for three days or players would have two of the same emissary.

It’s interesting you feel Court of Farondis is up less frequently than say, Highmountain. Even though I said above they probably have an equal chance of showing up, I groan when I see Court of Farondis and feel like it shows up too often. I doubt it does show up too often, but it feels that way simply because I don’t like it. I hate Azsuna and would much rather go stomping around Stormheim or Highmountain.

RC ASKED:

What is your personally best accomplishment in any Blizzard game? Can be big (defeating mythic Guldan) or little (finally capturing that last pet you need), but something that makes you personally feel accomplished.

Managing to accrue enough gold to not only pay my subscription in WoW through WoW Tokens, but have a Battle.net balance slush fund to buy whatever skins I want in Heroes of the Storm. Way back in the day, I sucked at having gold. I could barely pay for my repairs for a long, long time. Going from that to now, effectively, have enough gold to save me real life money feels pretty good. I don’t collect pets or mounts or any of that stuff, so my in-game solo activity is collecting gold now, basically.
