With Zandalari and Kul Tirans coming soon, here’s how to unlock every Allied Race

Update: With the World Quest bonus event and the Darkmoon Faire both on right now, it’s a great time to finish grinding reputation for Allied Races!

Zandalari and Kul Tirans are coming soon, so now is the time to get caught up on unlocking the various Allied Races if you haven’t already. They all require some sort of grind for reputation and playing through their respective storylines on a current character. The bottleneck here is farming the reputation. If you have been playing regularly you’re probably done or close to it. If you’re returning or wanting to play on the opposite faction, it’ll take a few weeks. If you aren’t sure how close you are, you can check your progress with Wowhead’s attunement calculator.

There are a few ways to boost your reputation gains before you get started:

  • Contracts, which boost reputation gains for a specific faction’s World Quests (must reapply on weekly reset)
  • Darkmoon Faire carousel buff or Top Hat buff (they don’t stack)
    • Works on all reputations
    • Increases reputation gains by 10%
    • Available the first week of every month (starting on the first Sunday)
  • World Quest Bonus EventSign of the Emissary passive buff
    • Works on Kul Tiras, Zandalar, Argus, and Broken Isles
    • Increases World Quest reputation gains by 50%
    • Available every 7 weeks
  • Demon’s Soulstone: random drop from Argus elites that increases reputation gain with Broken Isles and Argus factions by 1000 (very low droprate)

For all the Allied Races, you must have Battle for Azeroth purchased and already have a 110 character on the server that you wish to create a new Allied Race character on.

Now let’s look at the specific unlock requirements for each race

Kul Tiran Humans

To farm rep for Proudmoore Admiralty, quest through all of Tiragarde Sound and then do all world quests there. If you use the contract each week, you’ll gain extra Proudmoore Admiralty rep from all world quests. Proudmoore Admiralty emissaries give 1500 rep when they’re up, and Faction Assaults in Tiragarde Sound award an extra 500 rep. Two missions from the mission table give extra rep. Island Expeditions have a small chance to drop Dented Coin for 250 rep, which you can also purchase for 100 Seafarer’s Dubloon as a catch-up.

Zandalari Trolls

The Zandalari unlock is much the same as Kul Tirans – just on a different faction. Quest through Zuldazar and do the World Quests there for Zandalari Empire rep. The contract gives extra rep for all World Quests, and the Zandalari Empire emissaries and Faction Assaults in Zuldazar give 1500 and 500 extra rep respectively. Likewise, there are two missions with rep rewards, and Island Expeditions have the same deal — a small chance to drop Island Flotsam for 250 rep or you can purchase it for 100 Seafarer’s Dubloon.

Dark Iron Dwarves

Dark Iron Dwarves are just a straight grind for 7th Legion. You’ll earn rep passively by completing the foothold War Campaign quests when leveling. Doing any World Quests on Zuldazar will award 7th Legion reputation, and the new contracts give extra rep for all World Quests. The Faction Assault turn-in gives 500-1000 rep, and 7th Legion emissaries give 1500. Warfront contribution dailies and World Quests in Arathi Highlands and Darkshore also award 7th Legion rep. The weekly quest for Island Expeditions gives 1500 rep, and they can drop Rusted Alliance Insignia for 250 rep. The mission table also has rep missions.

Mag’har Orcs

Mag’har Orcs are also a straight grind for The Honorbound. The foothold quests for the War Campaign give rep passively while leveling. At 120, any World Quests on Kul Tiras give Honorbound rep, with the contract adding extra rep with all World Quests. Likewise, Faction Assault turn-ins give 500-1000 rep, and Honorbound emissaries give 1500. During the Warfront rotation, World Quests in Arathi Highlands and Darkshore give Honorbound rep, as do contribution dailies. Island Expeditions can drop Rusted Horde Insignia for extra rep and the weekly for collecting Azerite gives 1500 rep. There are also rep rewards from the mission table.

Void Elves

There are several ways to farm Argussian Reach rep: weekly quests, World Quests, Argussian Reach emissary, and the Legion mission table. Demon’s Soulstone, a random drop from Argus elites, will expedite this, but but it has a very low droprate. Reputation amounts were boosted after Legion which makes the grind easier. The two weekly quests from the Vindicaar give 1000 rep each, Seat of the Triumvirate dungeon quests give 250 rep, and World Quests give 150. The emissary will give 1500 when it’s up, and some missions from the mission table reward insignias for 250 and 750 rep.

Lightforged Draenei

Lightforged Draenei are much the same as Void Elves with regard to Army of the Light rep. The ways to farm the rep are the same: weekly quests, World Quests, Army of the Light emissary, and the Legion mission table. The same two weekly quests from the Vindicaar also reward 1000 Army of the Light rep. However, only the World Quests in Krokuun and Antoran Wastes will give rep, and there are no extra dungeon quests. The insignias from the mission table are the same — 250 and 750 rep.

Nightborne

Unlocking the zone with Thalyssra’s quest and playing through the Suramar storyline will net you the majority of rep you need. Do World Quests here for additional rep and the emissary when it’s up. You can do Withered Army Training every three days which awards rep, and the Kirin Tor emissary offers a selection of faction reputation tokens for completing those World Quests. Rep tokens can drop from missions or be found inside treasure chests.

Highmountain Tauren

Highmountain Tauren are probably the easiest of all, since you can get rep while leveling. Finishing the zone will get you to around Honored and you’ll need to do World Quests (and emissaries) the rest of the way to exalted. You can get an extra 1500 rep from the Kirin Tor emissary, and rep tokens can drop from missions or treasure chests.
