Be still my Hunter heart: Oondasta and Horridon will be tameable in Patch 8.2
I’m going to need more stable slots. Thanks to WoW Petopia, it’s been discovered that hunters will be able to tame Oondasta and Horridon from Throne of Thunder in Patch 8.2. Jeremy Feasel — a.k.a. Muffinus on Twitter — confirmed Petopia’s find.
Oondasta is a Devilsaur. Horridon is a Direhorn. If a Hunter wants to tame either of these they will need to head to Pandaria and the Isle of Giants. Once there, they need to kill the trolls on the island until one of them drops the Ancient Tome of Dinomancy. Learn this and you can go tame Horridon immediately. He is the second boss of Throne of Thunder and soon, a Tenacity pet. Any character Warlords of Draenor level and above should be able to solo him. Remember, he also drops a mount.
Devilsaur Oondasta is considered exotic. This means only Beast Mastery Hunters will be able to tame him, and he is considered Ferocity. Because he also drops a mount, taming him is going to be problematic. It’s not that it will be hard to tame him or Horridon. The problem with Oondasta is going to be, as a boss out in the world, the amount of people who show up wanting to kill him because of the mount.
This kind of tame is similar to the headache awaiting Hunters who want to tame the Sabertrons when they are up. It’s going to take a willingness on the part of everyone in attendance to let a Hunter tame Oondasta knowing they will have to wait 15 minutes for a respawn. As with any tame, it takes just one hit from anyone to break the tame and then, you’ll not get it back. This may be an early morning or late night attempt when there are few people online — at least when the patch first drops. If you want to be certain, grab a haste potion to speed up the process.
The bigger problem is the lack of stable slots. The following families — in addition to Devilsaurs and Direhorns — are getting new tameable skins: Crabs, Hydras, Lizards, Nether Rays, and Worms. I don’t know about you but I’ve filled ALL my stable slots and the five I currently carry. Almost every play session, I find an animal whose skin I’d love to have in my stable but I have no room.
While this is fantastic news — I can see Oondasta in my stable with Thok the Bloodthirsty — I won’t rush to get either new dino because I just don’t have the room. I did a stable clean-out recently and I’m down to the pets I want to keep. Unfortunately, this is all of them. Hopefully, the next news we Hunters should hear is more stable slots coming.
Are you excited? Will you be rushing to Pandaria to add these two to your stable?
