Diablo 2: Resurrected Ladder Season 4 starts on May 4 — that’s tomorrow!

Ladder Season 3 Ladder of Diablo 2: Resurrected is live, and as players race to the top of the leaderboards, one important question remains: when does Ladder Season 4 start? We now know that Diablo 2 Ladder Season 4 starts on May 4 — that’s tomorrow! Here’s the exact start time for Ladder Season 4:

  • North America: May 4, 5:00 p.m. PDT
  • Europe: May 5, 2:00 a.m. CET
  • Asia: May 5, 10:00 a.m. KST

Though we don’t have a specific end time for Ladder Season 3, you can expect it to wrap up shortly before Season 4 launches. We expect Diablo 2 Ladder Season 3 to end on May 4, immediately before Season 4 launches. We’ll update this post with specific times when we have them.

Not sure how Ladder Seasons work? Here’s everything you need to know about playing the next Ladder Season.

What are Ladder Seasons in Diablo 2?

If you haven’t participated in a Ladder Season, you might have some questions as to how the Ladder Season works and what’s involved. A Ladder Season is a competitive game mode in which players race to level 99, with an online leaderboard that tracks player progress and experience earned. To participate in the Ladder Season, you must make a new Ladder-only character that starts at Level 1, and you work your way up. There are some perks in having a Ladder character, such as access to stronger weapons and armor, additional Runes that you can socket into your weapons, and Terror Zones that help you level up faster. Of course, Terror Zones are only available to those who have already completed Diablo 2.

Here are the different Ladder modes you can play during the season:

  • Pre-Expansion Ladder: The standard version of Ladder play that encompasses playing only with the original four acts.
  • Pre-Expansion Hardcore Ladder: The hardcore (only one life) version of Ladder play that encompasses playing only with the original four acts.
  • Ladder: The standard version of Ladder play that encompasses playing five acts, as it includes the “Lord of Destruction” expansion content.
  • Hardcore Ladder: The hardcore (only one life) version of Ladder play that encompasses playing five acts, as it includes the “Lord of Destruction” expansion content.

Once a Ladder Season ends, everything players have stored in their stash will get rolled into their non-Ladder character. Then when the new season starts, they’ll have to make a new character starting at level 1.

When is Ladder Season 4?

We’re only in our third Ladder Season so far, but they tend to last roughly four months, which is the Diablo team’s goal. That makes Season 3, which started on February 16, a very short Season, running about two and a half months. The team hasn’t commented on this schedule change, though it’s possible that they want to give Diablo fans plenty of time to enjoy Diablo 4, and if Season 3 lasted four months, Season 4 would start only a week after — which wouldn’t give everyone time to play through the game.

Alongside Ladder Season 4, we’ll get patch 2.7. This isn’t as significant a patch as we’ve seen with previous Ladder Seasons, which came with new content, but it does contain a number of quality of life improvements and other tweaks.

So I hope you’re ready for Ladder Season 4, because it starts soon!
