December 2024 Gaming Showcase Schedule
December has rapidly turned into the second most-exciting month for video game news (after June and all the shows that arrive with Summer Game Fest). The Game Awards are of course at the center of the news cycle, but its prominence has encouraged other publishers — especially Indie teams — to make time this month to give players a head start on making their gaming plans for 2025. Here are the events currently scheduled:
- The Game Awards, pre-show starting at 4:30pm PST on Thursday December 12. This is the premiere gaming event and expect a lot of news and trailers and even the occasional award. It will be airing on all streaming platforms, and should run about two-and-a-half hours in total.
- Wholesome Snack, airing on Twitch and YouTube starting at 12pm PST on Tuesday December 10. Wholesome Games’ shows are some of our favorites because of all the cozy indie games they feature.
- Latin American Games Showcase, airing on YouTube starting at 4pm PST on Tuesday December 10. This showcase focuses on development teams located in Latin America.
- Day of the Devs, airing on YouTube at 9am PST on Wednesday December 11. Day of the Devs is a non-profit corporation formed by Double Fine Productions and iam8bit to help showcase Indie developers.
- Women-Led Games Showcase, airing on YouTube at 4pm PST on Wednesday December 11. As the name indicates, this showcase will focus on Indie game studios led by women.
- The Game Awards for Games Who Can’t Afford the Game Awards, airing on YouTube at 9am PST on Friday December 13. This event is new in 2024 and it’ll be interesting to see which Indie games are showcased.
- The Indie Game Awards, airing on YouTube and IGN at 4pm PST on Thursday December 19. As this is a proper awards show there may not be too many previews of upcoming games, however it’s the perfect opportunity to get acquainted with the best indie games released this year.
This may not be the final list, so keep an eye on Blizzardwatch.com for coverage and updates.
