Our team of sentai are on the chase! As present-pilfering robotic spiders flee across the city, Her Majesty's Prehistorian Praetorians race to find the culprit and salvage the holiday season. But the Queen's Winter Gala is just around the corner, with a palace full of presents to be handed out... and it's sure to make a tempting target.
Liz is hosting this game as Master of Ceremonies, joined by the following gentlefolk:
- Dame Margaret Clytemnestra Marlborough, a not-so-famed paleontologist (Matthew Rossi)
- Ser Riley Mullabyaly, a military man through-and-through (Joe Perez)
- Diviner Haruka Hadagami, an astrologer who blurs the line between science and mysticism (Joan Albright)
- Bartholomew Culpepper, an associate professor of history at Magdalene University at Cambridge (Phil Ulrich)
- Lady Blossom Hephestia Bee, a student who's eager to pick up every drop of social gossip (Anne Stickney)
This is the second in a three-part game of Sentai & Sensibility by 9th Level Games. It uses the Polygon system in which each player uses a single die based on their class (or in this case, their station), and we found it a great deal of fun!

the museum there and kind of does one of those like whistles where she like holds

right like it fingers to the helmet and does that really sharp whistle and this

this mechanical Clockwork dinosaur comes like bounding down the corner it's small

it's not as big as like the other ones but it it's like brown and it's got

these weird little little stripes on it kind of and um weird little mouse that's

almost half beak but not really and tiny little hands um and uh all of it all of

it is like it's got these like clockwork gears on all of the joints and everything and the eyes are kind of like

they almost look like ticking clocks and um she jumps into that jumps jumps up

into its chest where she kind of like she almost like lays on her stomach in this thing right to steer it um and goes

bounding down the street after the others um and I'm assuming that they have comms of some sort that they can

talk to each other yeah while they're in there that's a good question I will say

yes while you are in your ma you can talk with others who are in their ma because this is kind of a a mechanical

thing of some kind I keep I keep going back to like Voltron Power Rangers that kind of like

yeah they can like talk to each other they have like coms or whatever so I don't know how they do it here it's some

kind of like strange device but whatever anyway and she asks modern she goes

Professor which way uh sure I'll I they're heading for the edge they're heading for the edge of town and I'll

indicate uh some I I will say I said the edge of town but it's it's a sprawling

City so yeah they're they're heading out of the kind of downtown area yeah she

she basically wants to follow them but she was a little later getting out of the building so she's asking for help

District there's a lot going on here a lot of the electric lights out here have been torn or torn down or smashed you

know there was festive Bunting and garlands along the street which a lot of it has been destroyed in the Rampage of

these machines there's a lot of broken glass and uh a lot of screaming from

inside businesses but yes the pedestrians and Shoppers have uh mostly retreated to cow in fear in what shelter

they can find yeah she's she's basically avoiding running into everything and just kind of like for for a giant

mechanical dinosaur it's surprisingly agile as it kind of hops and leaps from

down the street and style I can't decide if I'm imagining

this as like a motorcycle sort of size thing compared to like these giant more

large uh robots or if it's like aan bunny it's like a giant freaking ostrich

or emu right just like down the street okay so we really

are Road Runner Roadrunner okay yeah it's that kind because it it it has little little front legs so it runs on

the back legs and so it's like just bounding down the street with its head

down uh okay onward who else so are there any left inside one I yes just

the back I was on the back of one of them and I you know ripped out its mechanical guts I will attempt to jump

over to the other one uh and basically spear it like I will

turn myself I will extend my arm out turn myself into a spear and try and just drive the saber through it from the

of their joints are sort of Dripping oil and uh the lobby of the museum is a

and then I think like from the uh rooftops through the the haze of the

chimneys uh and the light steam of the the air around us uh will emerge my uh

companion which is a uh a buffalo bear uh which is like a regular bear except

that it's uh front paws or front arms where legs were longer than its back it had a slightly sloping back uh they were

also known as uh Bulldog Bears uh so they're they very much resemble like The

Stance of a bulldog just much much bigger uh with very uh almost human-like

digits on their hands for for grappling um and I think it's like horse sized

right now um and because I am a mounted combatant uh so as it swings down from

the rooftop and as I'm running down uh the street to try to keep up with my companions um this thing swoops down

beside me I do that really cool classic leap where I just grab onto the side of it pull myself up with my leg around it

the hellbird extends slightly so the Bea Corb is now fully engaged from Mountain

combatants and we just take off with a slight trail of fire behind that dissipates uh but it's it's not real

fire of course it's the scti fire so it's that coppery glow of of flame uh in

our path as we bound off into the night to to uh keep up with our companions which I will then uh call forth for lady

alond Lord Hunter uh do you have eyes on our our query on it give direction and

bearing please north towards the Eds of the city just go down the Main Street affirmative and I just start taking off

picked my color uh and this thing is absolutely gorgeous and uh it is going to be immortalized because this is I've

never had a die roll that consistently um and it's and it's not just a Dy that's rolling high it's a Dy

down the Avenue uh quickly catching up with uh with Lady blossom in her

they're heading away from the shopping district can we see like where they're going yet like the destination of some giant robot spiders should be fairly

obvious unless they're trying ground they are leaving a trail of Destruction

in their wake but they have at this point hit the rooftops so they're above the city I so it's they're much less

easier to see uh from street level but you're in the air correct I am yes so

with them so you have a good idea and maybe at this point you stop following

them directly and just start making a direct beine to that area of the city just sort of keeping an eye on them as

you go to make sure your deduction is correct and it does seem like you think you're on to something yep and I think

I'll radio back to the rest of the team where I'm heading where I think they're heading see if we can cut them off before they get there yeah she be lady

you are still trailing a little bit but you're right up there with the rest of them heading towards these things they

are continuing to try to evade you but um um uh Professor C peer has a good

bead on them and keeps everyone on track so I will ask at this point are you

trying to see where they are going or are you trying to intercept them and

Destroy them I know I personally want to find out where they're going because I suspect that they've got uh more stuff

stashed there based on where they're at I think that's a safe bet I mean I W this warehouse and land on it

decided to head towards where they're going and uh they arrive ahead of you

but you Professor have been kind of staying staying at a distance in the

area you think they're going just waiting for them you see them pounce onto the roof of a large warehouse and

it has uh some skylights in the top that have been left open very large skylights

that these robots hop into and then once they have it's actually quite quiet you

wouldn't have imagined that a giant robot just hopped over here uh and I

will say everyone else has been able to catch up guided by Professor C pepper radio

Transmissions so who who who has not gone this round this is very difficult to keep up with I think we all went yeah

I think we all went yes so H new round the the combatants have fled but you

believe you were at the warehouse in which they are hiding so if we've all gathered together or at least have all

made contact or arrived at the same time uh I'm going to say you're I'm going to say you've all gotten there in good time

a less direct approach at first and make our way inside and see what they're up to there must be a purpose theft theft

is a purpose yes but to what end I mean usually people steal because they they

want the things they're stealing or they want money for those things but I you know it's not my first I don't really

there like an entrance up here on the roof where I'm at uh there is a skylight that uh where the you saw the robot

spiders jump into um are you looking for like a humanized entrance or a robot

sized entrance a hum sized entrance for now I think taking a robot directly through the Skylight would be less

subtle than we're trying to now not subtle but you know you do you depends

on what you're going for here um there are there there is a hatch as you look

around there's a hatch on the roof that leads down to some stairs into a large open Warehouse there are catwalks up on

the upper levels I mean I assume assume you are going inside yeah Bartholomew is going to uh

head inside along those catwalks and try to uh you know just let hisj let his eyes adjust to what presumably a dark

warehouse and then see what's see see what's it is it is actually very dark there's only kind of the dim light

coming in through skylight and windows on the side which is not a whole lot of light because it's in the in the

nighttime in the winter uh but the the robots do not seem to need light in the

same way you do you do see you can hear several of them clanking around and you

can see just in the dim light you can see kind of the glint of packages somewhere below you be careful there's

even more of them inside than what we pursued they've been all over the place do we go in through the front or try and

find is there a side entrance somewhere uh there is a front entrance and I will say there is a small entrance there's a

front entrance that is like kind of your kind of Warehouse dock like a big a big

door that you could take wagons up to whole large Cargo in um but there's also

a a door on the side that is more human sized so she's going to go to the more

humanized door okay and try it and see if it's open uh it is locked but you can

right then so yes Insight it is dimly lit though you do see it looks like a

pile of packages with uh just in the dim glint of light and you hear at least a

couple of robots marching around kind of just by the sounds of them uh they don't

sound hm you've had you've had enough experience fighting these robots that you think they don't sound entirely

healthy when they first came in does that make sense when they first came into the museum you know these are they

are literally well-oiled machines but as you smash them they uh sort of gain to

squeaks and groans as they had more trouble moving as you injured them so they don't these machines in here

perhaps not unscathed from their evening's activities okay so they've been beaten

up a little bit here and there like took a fall or something is there anybody else around like near the pile of gifts

like um so it is it is dark in here you do not you do not see or hear anything

other than the robots roaming okay how do we approach I think I'll start

scouting forward then since that's sort of what whoar were known for um start

creeping around and start seeing if I can locate uh either where more of them

are coming from with what's going on uh and see if I can get a closer look at where the goods are is it just a pile in

the middle of the warehouse um it's uh kind of like a a giant bin like almost

like a dumpster that they've been dumped into just sort of a giant bin that is now full of piled halfhazard with pack P

can discern yeah I know but I I don't think I can give you anything else here

right angle that it's the light is coming in through the skylights you see three of these robots uh in the center

of this space there are packages in large bins all around them two of them

are kind of sitting on the ground with legs under them and the third is like

using some kind of implement on the end of one of its legs to like uh poke at

the Poke at the Poke at damaged components on the other one with little little bits of Sparks as it tries to

repair them you think okay so um I'm going to very quietly on the coms go

there's three in the middle and one of them looks like it's trying to repair the other might want to intercede before

that happen so we are all sitting in this Warehouse there are three robots

and uh some large bins of packages what does everyone want to do from here I'm

very serious I think um we'd best intercede before they repair themselves

so be it so who is making the first move well hura is tired of sitting in the

dark so he's going to LEAP into that moon beam okay and sort of slice the

light up with his katana and Shout Crimson Stardust and Scatter lights all

around the room in sort of constellation okay awesome so yeah are they like

Crimson lights kind of looking yeah red to white red pink and white okay so

they're a scattering of orbs of light blip into uh existence throughout the

room lighting it lighting it perfectly well so you can see these robots

glinting in shades of red and pink uh they don't really have heads but they

sort of all kind of adjust on their legs that give the impression they're looking

around to figure out what's going on but they haven't gotten up is be in front of

or behind them you you may make that determination on your own well she went

around creeping in but yeah she went around you're on the edge they're they're kind of in the center kind of in

the center of these uh bins of packages okay um how far away like like could she try

throwing her fan again uh you could try you could come out of cover come out

from behind one of these and try throwing her fan yeah so she's going to try throwing her fan at the one that was doing the repairs okay uh go for it make

me a dueling roll okay I know this is a very you're you're coming in with these

this robot completely she's GNA do like the same thing that she did with the other one because it seemed to work

really well right like aim for the back of spiders don't have necks right but like in that area that that like joint

between the Torso and the head and try and sink her fan into it again of course

that means that she does not have her fan anymore get back again

yes the fan spins through the air and it beds itself in this thing's head such as

it has in a shower of Sparks It tumes Forward onto the robot it was working on

which sort of tries to tries to move and get up under its weight but it's kind of

all this this doesn't feel like why would they do this why bring all these things here why are the gifts separated

doors at the end of the warehouse yeah but I don't want that what I want is I want you to imagine a cat in a Kleenex

my gorgonopsid is like the ancestor of all mammals uh it has hatat wolf all of

that stuff it it basically acts like a giant lizard cat it like it's it's like a as I do the the trumpet thing it comes

up over the glass looks down its big reptile giganto fanged alligator cat

face and just reaches down with a paw and is just swiping at it trying to get

it the way a cat would swiping at the packages or at the at the robot at the

I think this is hilarious and I love it uh I will say that this the spider that is just stood up is like just in range

of one of its paws just by the height of the ceilings in here so uh it goes down

and makes a swipe make me a dueling rooll for for that guy um that's a seven

reaches up he makes this like like it sounds like a like an alligators

booming thing that they do and they like then they're afraid but it also sounds like a cat's chitter at a mouse outside

it's it combines the two noises plus it's mechanical and then this terrifying this robot arm this robot arm comes in

and is like slash slash slash on the uh top of the robot it can only get the top

like it can't can't really get it so it's like that way you've ever seen the cat trying to get a a crinkly ball it's

like that it's just going for it and going for it and going for it and eventually it just pulls enough of the top of the thing off that it just kind

of like CL Clump Clump falls down and falls apart just just from strikes the

way you know you've seen TCO really fast so they're hitting it over and over again like that uh yes it kind of

eventually it's kind of as it takes hits kind of squirming in this weird way like

jolting from side to side and then eventually like the top panel on its head sort of comes off and you can see

Sparks a shower of Sparks as it just collapses over now there is one left but

it's kind of underneath the rubble of these two others and who who wants to

as as the sun sets and night be and night falls you come to the Palace that

is decorated in lights in every direction the palace itself brilliantly

lit in lights of all colors with decorations of all kinds ice sculptures

Adorn the gardens as you walk in and uh get there are some ice there is there

are some ice sculptures that are of course dinosaurs in kind of celebration of the museum and the scientific

advancements of the year uh there are in fact Pavilions and uh uh areas around

the central Palace that have been set up as exhibits for sciences and Technology

to celebrate all of the happenings of the previous years there's been uh the

previous year I should say not plural uh there's been a great deal of scientific innovation and learning of the past year

and this is sort of an a a reason to celebrate and the celebrations last

until the dawn when presents are handed out now you enter the Grand Ballroom

decorated lavishly beautiful white marble tile with golden gilding and on

both sides in large rooms off the ballroom are full of packages wrapped in

paper of every color uh glowing practically Under The Lights of the uh

of the palace it is a grand display and the ballroom is full of people dresses

of all shades and colors uh fantastic suits hats of all shapes and sizes with

some sort of competition on how elaborate who can have the most elaborate and ridiculous hat there are

still some there are some hats with little scientific Adorn to kind of go

with the uh sort of theme of the evening to celebrate the progress of the year it

it is a very eclectic mix and at the far end of the ballroom up on a balcony you

see the queen herself in discussions with other members of the Court um and

of course the most brilliant and devastating white and gold ball gown

that uh and uh her face covered in a mask what does everyone wish to do this

evening so be is going to once again flit around from person to person but this time she I will say actually I will

say uh to to begin with tell us how you have how you have dressed for this ball oh as you enter the ballroom extremely

important yes it is decked out like full Rey like um it's sort of like that

that's kind of shot through with gold thread and the the whole thing is in a shade of like all off-white alond color

ribbons on it but it also it's been lined like the top of it has been lined with white fluff like fur it almost

looks like marabu but it's not because that's not from the period but that kind of an aesthetic right and um kind of

echoing the little pearls that are on the side of the ribbons she's got pearls kind of draped all over her gown like on

the seams and things like that and it it's it's modest obviously but I mean

there is Bice visible and she does um her quill because she's not walking around with like her notebook this time

around right um her quill is actually it it's obnoxiously large right it's just

an obnoxiously large quill and um it's actually tucked into her hair so she's

got like this just big feather on her head and she's also got a mask because

um it just seemed like the thing to do it's sort of um white and sparkly it's

like that white and almond basically and um looks kind of like a butterfly wing

on her face okay I I do want to interject uh before we get far in this everyone after that last encounter

there is uh the the ballroom is certainly a buzz there is of course a crowd of people

dancing the dancing is non-stop only the participants change and but all around

the edges of the Ballroom in the rooms off the main Ballroom is talk gossip

some of it true some of it not true the even in just a few days the telling of the attack has grown the Monstrous

spiders dripping Venom that were 20 ft tall towering over the shops is being

told by some people it's it's gotten very dramatic and there is you can tell

make double check that the Queen's guard are in their positions which I'm certain that they already are ready to Usher

folks out uh and I kind of keep circling past the display of presence uh just

kind of keeping an eye on things just not really and doing the the whole light engagement if people come up to me and

talk it's very surface very very light very oh yes no I heard that was such a a

tragic attack or or whatever the case is uh sort of do the plating uh and then just kind of find my way out of the

conversations and sort of just kind of float between place to place try not not to stick in one place for any too tooo

long a period of time and uh you do the guards seem to be well positioned you do notice that there are clear lines of

egress I mean the sorts of places that might usually be taken up by tables or

gossipers or couches that might block the way have been cleared to make sure the hallways are clear out of the room

to make it easier to evacuate there's a guard stationed at each potential exit

dress that's underneath it which is a solid uh it's a a solid sky blue um

straight up like Azure blue it's very soft and and has a lot of crenellations

but it doesn't it doesn't have a lot of patterning or anything like that um the the satin is it's real satin it's not

the you know it's not the kind that they have in like 17 1800s this is satin that comes from like the 1600s it's very old

so two of them crash in and following these two large ones a bunch of the little ones from the day before similar
