The litany of Midnight updates and information continues with things ranging from UI updates to dual wielding baguettes. Of course, we pore over every tiny crumb of Player Housing info, as the upcoming truest true end game. Our staff Druid Cory joined us, with an appeal for more Druid forms -- there are a few from the teasers we've seen that he is specifically writing to Santa Metzen about. There's another new Hearthstone miniset to discuss, and to go with it another achingly adorable little pet you can only get by gatcha.
Plus, the Heroes of the Storm team gave Cory his regularly scheduled hopium in the form of a relatively sweeping update just before the crew went live. And right before the end of the podcast, Blizzard dropped a whole bunch of blog posts about Midnight, so at least we'll have something to talk about next week!

hello everybody and welcome to the blizzard watch podcast i'm matt i'm hosting with me this week
0:15
are my fantastic constellation of hosts and guest hosts first up orion the hunter played by cory
0:23
Hi, Corey. I have a belt. Yes, you do. And a lot of people seem to not know that about you, which is really weird
0:32
I've recently been discussing constellations with people. Next up, she practically runs the site because she runs the site
0:41
That is literally her job. She's the other in chief. I mean, come on, guys. It's Liz Harper
0:45
Hi, Liz. You run the site. I mean, that's what happens. Yeah, that's pretty much true
0:53
Finally, we force him to edit us, so he has to hear our voices again after this, and I feel bad now
1:02
Hi, Joe. Joe Perez. Hi, I've been here the whole time. Hi, Sam
1:08
I feel like the worst part of editing podcasts, or I go through the podcast and I do clips and things for promo, the worst part is not hearing other people's voices
1:18
It is always hearing your own voice. Yeah, listen. Joe's got a radio voice
1:22
no i hate my own voice like we can get into the show in a second excellent my voice is bad your
1:27
voice is great but it's one of those things like i have been i've been recording music i have been
1:32
performing music i've been reporting podcasts for literal decades i still hate this out of my own
1:39
voice it'll it'll never change i suspect i suspect this is the same for pretty much everyone yes yes
1:46
i was never i was a dj in the 1990s and my god my voice i could not stand it then it's even worse
1:54
now but at least it was you know what's you know what's not bad though we got a bunch of news to
1:58
talk about we can talk about that and have a good time let's do that nope let's not we're
2:01
gonna keep talking about news let's talk about world of warcraft shall we yes we shall gamescom
2:08
at this point gamescom was like what three weeks ago two weeks ago and yet we're still talking
2:14
about it because so much stuff happened around it and in it and all that
2:20
So first up, we've got a fireside chat that was done by Mr
2:25
GM. It's got Ian has a cost us. And this was posted recently or I mean
2:33
it was posted this week. I mean, that's part of the weird thing about games
2:37
Com is that information has come out extremely slowly. So we've got this video that has
2:45
A fair amount of new information And it's just out this week And also
2:49
You know, last week I was complaining about the audio Of some of the videos that Blizzard posted
2:55
This is so much worse And this is just one that Mr. GM did
3:00
This isn't one that Blizzard did Also, can we take a moment to point out How they advertised Mr. GM
3:05
But not any of the people Mr. GM was going to talk to Like on all the Yeah, when they advertised this
3:10
when they advertised this at Gamescom, they said Fireside Chat with Mr. GM
3:15
And I think Mr. GM is great. He does great video content. But they said Fireside
3:21
Chat with Mr. GM, not Fireside Chat with Ian Hazacostas. Yeah, like, no shade to Mr
3:27
GM, but one of those is a larger selling point. Yeah. I mean, you know Mr. GM's
3:33
going to be on an interview on his channel, you know, with his name on it
3:38
It's not a surprise that the Blizzard Watch channel with Blizzard Watch staff, yeah, we should be there
3:47
I hope. It's us. But, I mean, what gets me about this isn't even the sound quality, although, yeah, it is pretty bad
3:55
But it's also the way it's just... Does everybody have to sit like that
4:02
Why do people sit like that? This is not important. Let's talk about things that are actually important
4:06
I do want to say about the video, you can tell that the video was recorded
4:12
by a camera sitting in front of the stage that definitely did not have access
4:16
to the audio feed from the microphone No, absolutely not. It sounds like
4:20
they are from the bottom of a cave. You are absolutely right Yes, it is extremely echoey
4:25
There is a ton of background noise You hear people shouting and cheering from around
4:29
the hall, and it is frankly very, very difficult to listen to. I listened to it and
4:35
several times trying to pick out what they were saying. And Mr. GM suggested that Blizzard
4:41
actually recorded the interview as well, but he does not have that video
4:47
and Blizzard has not posted it themselves. Taliesin from Taliesin and Evitel also suggested
4:53
they did a fireside chat, which was on the schedule. And again, it said fireside chat with Taliesin
4:57
and Evitel, not fireside chat with whoever they were talking to. That has also not been posted
5:03
and Taliesin suggested that blizzard recorded it and has not released the footage so i i don't know if that's
5:11
true that's what i heard from him mr gm suggested the same thing that blizzard has footage of these
5:16
events that it did not release and it's just it's a pattern of that very confusing news rollout for
5:24
midnight but there there were some interesting things here i don't know how interesting all of
5:30
them were i just took notes and uh put down anything that i had not heard before
5:35
okay do you want to cover them do you want me to talk about oh i i can i can go through them uh
5:43
delves a couple things that uh two of the new delves we don't know which ones are actually
5:49
outdoor instances so you'll be able to mount up which ian said would be uh have some interesting
5:57
opportunities to explore and kind of change that that's sort of interesting old delves will remain
6:03
in the game just like just like old dungeons remain in the game and you can go back to them
6:07
for achievements or as you're leveling which uh may be good for those bran enjoyers in the audience
6:14
you know you can still go and i assume hang out with bran uh about cross-faction grouping i was
6:21
hoping to hear that maybe they would loosen some restrictions on cross-faction grouping because
6:27
while it is very great it also has some weird limitations uh and he said nothing to announce
6:34
the philosophy about cross-faction grouping and not forcing it on anyone remains the same so
6:40
at least we got what we got what we got is pretty good though i am still frustrated when
6:45
I am standing with my friends outside a dungeon or a raid, and I cannot use a portal because it was created by someone of the opposite faction
6:57
Even though, if we went inside, we can do stuff together. So, yeah, it could be better. This is where it is
7:06
Gear. The current gear rank system and upgrade system is going to stay the same
7:11
you know where you have tiers gear like champion and hero heroic and mythic uh but
7:17
uh they admit it is pretty complicated which i think may be a little bit of an understatement the different tiers gear a little confusing particularly if you aren super plugged in and messing with gear all the time and the team has been questioning whether a currency like
7:35
valor stones is necessary when you already have to collect crests and i have certainly felt the
7:42
frustration of okay i have plenty of crests but i spent on my valor stones already so and of course
7:49
both currencies are limited. You have a max. Yeah, until they remove
7:53
the caps. Oh my goodness. Yes. And you have a max on the number of crests you can get and a max
7:59
on the number of valor stones you can get. So you can only have so many of each at the same time and you will
8:03
always run out of valor stones before you run out of other stuff. And
8:07
you have to do different kinds of activities to get these things. So you can be
8:11
forced into maybe you like doing outdoor world content that is very low
8:17
on crest drops. There are some ways you can get them, but it's lower than if you were doing raids
8:23
And if you're doing raids, raids don't really give you any valor stones
8:28
So you're always forced into content that may not be your thing. I think this would be, it would be very nice if there was just a single currency
8:35
And we didn't have to deal with two currencies to do all of our upgrading
8:40
Can I make a suggestion here? Yeah, go for it. Let's get crazy and suggest that possibly World of Warcraft has enough currencies
8:52
And we just have none. And if you want to have a gear upgrade system, they used to do a thing where people would drop loot that was better than the loot you currently had
9:02
And you just take that. So I'm going to suggest we consider bringing that back
9:08
Listen, I don't mind the upgrade system as a system. I understand that you've made that perfectly clear
9:16
I, I don't mind it. I do. However, have, I take umbrage with the currency amounts that we get because it feels
9:26
it feels like you're Sisyphus, right? Like you, like Liz pointed out
9:31
you get X number of a week or X number at a season until they remove the
9:36
cap and you can't do anymore. And man, it feels like, I understand it's developed in a way that you're supposed to be able to get
9:42
where you need to go with it. But it still feels bad. And like, yeah, having different gear drop at different levels and different like different upgrade numbers, depending on what content you do and what difficulty you do the content
9:55
It's a lot to keep track of. It's just become overcomplicated on how many drops you get
10:00
So if they could simplify that and simplify currency, I'd be happy
10:04
so didn't have anything to announce about that but it did really seem like they're thinking about
10:12
maybe dialing it down to one currency or simplifying the system in some way
10:17
which i think is great there's a lot of there's a lot of stuff going on in world of warcraft so
10:22
even if they didn't even if they didn't keep introducing new currency systems every patch
10:27
that would be a good thing because at least you wouldn't have to go okay uh we're gonna have a
10:33
patch in two weeks and I need to get like enough currency to buy
10:38
this thing at this level before I will then get a green
10:41
in the new content and then start doing that. And, you know, it
10:45
just, yeah, I don't know. I feel very anxious about hearing in WoW
10:52
right now. They could just go back to Valor Points. I mean, they did, basically
10:59
Each time I think we've escaped Valor Points forever, they bring something back
11:03
They bring something back. It's even called battler stones, man. Yeah, but
11:08
you need the stones, you need the crests, and you need the
11:14
enchanting materials, and that keeps enchanting viable, etc., etc. I get all the desires
11:22
and the urges behind the way they've built that. Simplify, man. Simplify
11:29
We'll see what happens. You were talking about professions. So as professions are going forward, the general structure of them is going
11:37
to be carried forward. So don't expect the complicated talent trees to be going anywhere
11:43
But I'm going to quote here from Ian Hezekostas himself. He said
11:49
the amount of complexity in professions is probably averaging higher than we want it to be
11:56
which is a very long number of words to say. It's a little complicated as well
12:02
And they're trying to work to differentiate professions more from one another, like, you know, blacksmithing, you're making something that people may use this entire season of content
12:15
And alchemy, you're making something that is consumable and that those professions shouldn't necessarily feel the same
12:23
and they're also trying to make them more approachable because it can be extremely overwhelming
12:29
when you go in and wow, there are so many talents, there are so many points
12:35
where do you start? What do you do? It can be, professions are a lot right now
12:40
but he did mention that this also allows for players with that fantasy of like
12:45
they want to be a great blacksmith, they want to be the greatest blacksmith. They can go in and do that
12:50
and play this kind of game, even if maybe not everyone wants to play that kind of game
12:55
But it's there for people who want it. We did note that professions are going to be able to make decor of different kinds
13:04
and some of that decor will use a new resource called lumber
13:09
By new, you mean we're going back to Warcraft. Work, work. Yeah, so it does sound like we may be chopping down some trees
13:21
no further details on that at all as you said we may be chopping down some trees
13:27
it's like cut to tell yourself oh no oh no well you know hmm
13:37
it's so much longer just sitting there it was a very large tree
13:43
I mean maybe maybe probably not we're all trying to not think about that. And some new details on housing, not a ton, but a few details
13:57
which in 11.27, we will be getting early access to housing if you have pre-ordered Midnight
14:04
Housing is an expansion feature. You will not get access to it unless you own a Midnight. So
14:09
11.27, we will have limited functionality of housing. Basically, you can get your house set
14:15
up and you can get started with housing but like all of the content won't be there there won't be
14:21
like your neighborhood activities your endeavors won't be started that's going to happen when the
14:26
expansion actually launches in 2026 so it is as they said early access we will have we will be
14:34
able to collect stuff for our houses and start decorating our houses and i think it's a pretty
14:39
great like end of season end of expansion activity this is going to be a lot of stuff we can do
14:45
we can go out and check out old content or do things or get achievements or all of these things
14:51
that might uh might give us decor for our houses uh but you can do the throne from black rock depths or the one from the chamber with Nefarian When you first fight him that big cherry
15:06
Just in your tiny little, you know, Sylvan Glen, just boom, big, big, big throne
15:13
You're sitting on it going, Oh, portal fools. You finally entered my land
15:18
This is our house, man. Sorry. The chair, man. we listen when you go and kill nefarion and you're like i'm just here for the chair if you
15:28
get out of my way and let me take the chair it'd be fine and he's got to go through his whole
15:32
monologue it's like oh my god i just i just want the chair dude arthur i understand that you think
15:39
it's your chair but i want it get off the chair um the other thing is even if you do not do
15:48
anything, even if you were like a brand new account that has never done any content before
15:53
has never gotten any of the achievements or done any of the things that would give you new stuff, you will have several dozen pieces of base decor that you can use to decorate your house
16:02
So you will not be like a completely empty house with nothing just because you haven't done a lot
16:08
of in-game activities. I expect those of us here have probably done a fair amount of in-game
16:14
activities, which are going to award decor. And I am certainly planning on doing so many more when I can in patch 1127
16:25
I'm going to see if much of the stuff drops in the Sunwell, man. I am going to farm the heck out of that place
16:30
The Sunwell is just plain pretty. I mean, come on. You don't want to have any of this furniture
16:35
Look at the stained glass everywhere. Come on. I am totally going to try to set up my place to look like Blood Elves made it
16:42
Because, man, what's the option? And orcish stuff is all striking and metal
16:48
It wasn't in this interview, but we heard at Gamescom that one thing, the decor options will not be race locked or faction locked
16:58
So if you're Alliance and you want to have like a blood elf styled house, are you some of that decor
17:03
You can. There's not going to be a limit that says, oh, you can't do this because you're a gnome because I'm a gnome
17:09
And that would be really sad. Oh, you're going to read this next bit about the house and who owns it
17:16
So, yes, your house is owned by your entire warband. And I should clarify that
17:23
I said your house as if it was one house. You can have two houses maximum
17:28
So that's crazy. No one could imagine owning two houses. That's just madness
17:35
But in this video game, you can own two, two houses. To be fair, in this video game, if you don't have any money, you can go out and kill a few frog monsters and boom, you've got money
17:48
That's true. It's a fantasy world for sure. So you will be able to have an alliance house and a horde house
17:56
But your house is owned by your warband. So if you have an alliance character, you can still go into your horde house
18:03
your horde characters can go into your alliance house it is not restricted in that way i am
18:09
parking my tauren in my alliance house as soon as i can listen to the imagination of someone comes
18:15
to visit my night elf warrior walks in and there's a tauren just sitting on the couch staring at a
18:21
crystal ball going how does he get this thing to work i don't it's just a ball it's sitting there
18:25
because my that is i mean i'm not kidding here this isn't me being sarcastic this isn't me being
18:31
dismissive. I think this is perfect. Because I love the idea that our warbands are basically
18:41
our characters all know each other. If we have a character, that character is
18:47
part of a weird dark sun-esque character tree. Look it up. It's wild
18:54
I love the idea that my tauren actually does know my night elf. That they've met
19:00
Perhaps fighting. Like, you know, maybe they got into a fight at some point
19:04
I have certainly PVP'd against many tauren. And I've PVP'd as a tauren, which is where I learned my deep, deep hatred for gnomes
19:10
Because they could just get in under everything. And I didn't know they were there until they killed me
19:15
It's true. It's true. I love this. This is a great idea
19:19
I just want to point out, in exchange for being tiny, sometimes we have to swim through puddles that you would walk through
19:26
Sometimes you die in Black Morass. I remember because I was tanking it on my gnome
19:32
And it's like, oh no. Try to get a gnome tank on that. Yikes. It was terrible. Black Marass, they fixed
19:38
I'm pretty sure, but not. They fixed it, but it's still a pain. Yeah, yeah, yeah
19:43
It just doesn't kill you anymore. Well, the water doesn't kill you
19:48
Other things, still capable of killing you. So, yes, I still have some questions about this
19:55
Like, what if it's guild housing? We know there are going to be guild specific neighborhoods
20:00
What if you have an ungilded character? Can they go into the guild neighborhood and hang out at your house
20:04
I don't know. Still have some questions, but I agree with you, Matt
20:08
This is really cool. This is just your house is your house and you can enjoy it on any of your characters whenever you want
20:18
I still do think it's going to be like that. It's going to be kind of funny. is like, you know, your neighbors in your
20:22
Horde neighborhood are like all looking and some like, you know, giant draenei comes walking out in a
20:28
bathrobe, kind of like Leonard Nimoy in the Ugly Song there. And you're just looking at him like
20:34
what is he doing? He's like, hello, my friends! Athenon Poros! And you're like, ah, this is awkward
20:42
The other thing is, guild neighborhoods are cross-faction. So, you know, you can be, if you're
20:50
in a guild you can be in a neighborhood that is horde living right next door to alliance it's just
20:54
a completely messed up mixed up world you're all buddies you're all living in the same neighborhood
21:00
the guild leader will choose whether it is an alliance themed neighborhood or a horde themed
21:07
neighborhood it does not sound like it can be both even though i kind of wish you could do oh
21:12
this area is horde this area is alliance because i think the some of the horde areas are actually
21:18
really beautiful, and I suspect that my guild will be having an alliance
21:22
neighborhood, unless I can find some kind of suitable bribe. I don't know, I mean
21:27
half of our guild is horde. But the guild leader, what do you
21:34
think? I mean, knowing who it is, it's a 50-50 shot, depending on
21:40
what his main is at the time. Well, anyway. Anyway, it's, uh..
21:48
This is another thing where it doesn't, you know, it doesn't matter what you're playing so much as who you're playing with
21:55
And it's your house is your house, your friends are your friends, and you can hang out with them in your neighborhood
22:01
I think that is super, super great. And we also know that while neighborhoods are usually limited to 50 houses, which you can have a public neighborhood, you can have a private neighborhood, or you can have a guild neighborhood
22:15
guild neighborhoods will expand with additional instances to allow for houses for everyone in the guild
22:22
So even though everyone can only have one house in the neighborhood So I think that is great I am very pleased with this
22:35
And we got a little tiny, tiny granule of news about the Alpha
22:40
which Ian Hezekostas said will be in about a month. We will have Alpha news
22:46
He mentioned the Alpha was coming up, but he had not narrowed it down quite this much in previous comments
22:53
so I think all this is great I'm very happy do y'all have opinions on how housing is shaping up here
23:00
you will not hear from me for weeks people are going to have to come and find me
23:05
you are going to have to remind me to do things like eat or what day of the week it is
23:10
because I'm going to be knee deep in this housing I cannot wait
23:15
you have no idea yes I am surprised honestly that they didn't go with three
23:23
neighborhood options to have like one horde, one alliance, and then one
23:27
neutral ground like Dalaran kind of thing. Just thinking about it like right now
23:34
It does sound like they plan to build on the system and add more kinds of houses and decor
23:39
and maybe neighborhood types. Is it too soon to point out that
23:43
maybe they didn't have one Dalaran style option because Dalaran is really
23:47
a lot of smoldering. Listen, I'm going to say is that Dalaran pieces right now
23:51
are at a premium and they're all over for us to go pick up. As a matter of fact, we have several
23:55
quests that make us do this. This is a perfect opportunity. Let me decorate in
23:59
memory of Dalaran. Make it happen. I don't mind you decorating there
24:03
I just don't think they're going to give you Dalaran as a place to put your house. That means
24:07
your house is currently on the bottom of the ocean. I'm confident that one of the gemstones that fell
24:11
off of Dalaran has a pocket dimension in it. We know that they did this. It's fine
24:15
we could we could be rebuilding dalaran that would be cool and i have listened to the past
24:23
couple weeks of lore watch which uh talk about how great it was that we just moved dalaran
24:28
all over the place right into the middle of danger even though it was a civilian city so
24:34
you know maybe maybe maybe not i feel like on asterisk the idea of safe for civilians is
24:42
kind of like getchy anyway. You're just a farmer and meanwhile... You're safe for civilians
24:50
I'm in a cave in the middle of nowhere and even this is sketchy
24:55
but it's better than being in a major city. I mean, I'm not disagreeing with you
25:01
but I mean, I keep thinking back to that whole deal in Cataclysm
25:05
where the closest farmland areas to Stormwind were either infested with murlocs
25:12
or had been ripped apart and big floating rocks were everywhere and criminals
25:18
had infiltrated every rank of government to overthrow it. I will take dealing with criminals
25:24
and or murlocs as opposed to waking up in the morning and realizing that I
25:29
have been teleported across the world into an active war zone. And they're both
25:37
everyone's still happy that they just don't live in sanctuary because, you know. We don't talk about that
25:43
It could be worse. Though Sanctuary does sometimes creep into the game in weird ways
25:48
Yes, we do. We do not live there. So are we going to talk about the trading post here
25:57
I do think, yes, we got to talk about the trading post. But let's, as hard as it is, I want to try to not explain everything in the trading post
26:07
I just want to talk about how it looks weird to see
26:12
Yeah? Like, the image they shot for this. The main, here's what you're going to get
26:17
One of the pictures is basically a big old orc and a night elf wearing the ceremonial armor of the Bronzebeard clan
26:26
And I'm sitting here going, did nobody think to find a dwarf or even an earthen to wear this
26:33
I was going to say, we have dwarfs on both sides now. And they're showing off how cool this looks on everyone
26:41
You don't have to be a dwarf to wear this. You will look awesome. Except it doesn't because the hats look dumb on people with big old heads
26:51
I'm sorry. I'm looking at it now. And I mean, I play a female night elf warrior
26:56
That's my main. I'm going to get this set. I'm going to get both of them
27:00
As soon as this show is over, I'm going to log on and go buy both of them because I have the tender
27:05
I have so much gender. But I'm not going to ever wear that helmet
27:13
That's my feeling about a lot of helmets. Yeah, you know, I was just thinking that a lot of the helmets in the recent years have been kind of like non-starters
27:22
And it's really hard to go up when you already have the best helmet in the game, which is the Naga head from Antorus
27:30
See, I like helmets that completely cover my face and head so that you can't see it at all
27:35
I am totally down with that. Any helmet where it's just my normal character face
27:41
except my haircut's gone, and I have stuff floating above it. No, no, I'm sorry
27:48
No. Either completely show my face, because the hair is the best part
27:53
or show my scar, because I have a really cool face scar
27:57
Do most other playable races get big face scars? I've not actually looked
28:05
I just knifed my face scar. They get the eyesight stuff. I don't know about the, I don't know about that deep
28:12
Half the face is burned off on my character. I don't know if they do that for other people, but I just
28:17
yeah, I mean, this is a great looking set. And I know Liz
28:21
I know you don't want to talk about everything. So I'm going to stop. I want to, but I do think I want to ask you
28:25
I want to ask you a question. You said, this is bronze beard clan armor
28:30
When I saw this, it's got, you know, red glowing crystals sticking out of it
28:34
There's silver. version with kind of clear crystals that made me think it's more of an earthen set uh it's
28:41
it's magny's armor so if you go back to magny before he um before he uh became crystal man
28:49
that's the armor that he was wearing uh just less crystals on the shoulders right and then
28:54
they have like the armor yeah the cape on the one side is the tape you used to have and yeah
28:59
and then when he became it up yeah well and then when he became crystal if you go back and look at
29:04
the character model, the all white character model, it's this armor specifically
29:09
Okay, cool. I think this is really cool. It's also worth pointing out that the chest plate on this armor
29:17
is the plate set from Alduar for Warriors chest plate. Which is what he wore
29:21
Yeah. Yep, which is what he wore. So it's also a nod back to Alduar
29:28
So it's very cool. another thing that I thought was very neat
29:34
I don't know if anyone will agree with me there's an ensemble of rainy day
29:39
attire which is just a little red raincoat and I kind of
29:43
love it I kind of love it it's dumb but I kind of love it did I I'm
29:50
I'm gonna go around the table and ask did anyone see anything in particular
29:55
they love this month Joe honestly I have not gotten to a look at this yet uh surprisingly i've been too in shock at what my my uh i can't even call it the
30:06
disappointment box this week um what it gave me that i completely forgot that it was a new month
30:12
so until reading until looking at this i i completely forgot we had a new a new transbox
30:19
uh traders uh post to go through yeah it looks nice it's not the cool undead stuff that we just got
30:30
but you know it's fine the raincoat's cute I like getting more
30:38
griffins, griffins are great but the undead stuff I do think the griffins are pretty cool
30:45
they have like a layer of feathers that are like glowing so I have already bought myself a griffin
30:52
because it miraculously matched my current transmog, which is orange and blue
30:58
I'm rocking the orange right now. It's great. Matt, do you have anything that you love
31:04
other than these dwarf sets? Well, it's a dwarf thing regardless, but it's not a set
31:10
It's the Giganto Warf Hammer. Oh, yeah, that's good. Bronzebeard's Ancient Crusher
31:17
It is exactly what it says it is. um it is a big freaking hammer made entirely out of rock uh it's got like a nice gold trim on it
31:28
and a big thing on it that says it's a bronze beard thing but it just it it is there's something
31:33
i love about the tendency sometimes in wow to like they make a lot of these really super elaborate
31:40
things and like they have a lot of spinny parts and a lot of like you know just looking at it going
31:45
wow what is that thing and then every so often they just come back and it's like it's a rock
31:49
on a stick or it's just a stick with a with another stick shoved through it you know and i
32:00
like that about like especially for big old hammers and wow this is like a really nice
32:05
encapsulation of that old style of big old hammer that we used to get like um the one i remember the
32:12
one in black and black rock depths not black rock depths upper black rock spire there was the
32:18
amok i think yeah amok used to drop that really big cool hammer and this thing doesn't look
32:24
anything like it but it does look like the kind of thing a dwarf would pick up if an ogre was
32:29
coming at him with a hammer like that he'd be like oh you think that's a hammer this is a hammer
32:33
you know sort of thing it just i love this thing i am going to get it uh so yeah i thought i really
32:39
i also do want to say that i do think except for the hats that this plate armor looks really good
32:46
it's nicely balanced on its shoulders they're not they're unique looking so they don't
32:53
the asymmetry is actually very nice there's that little bit of a
32:57
rounded bit to the the pauldron that kind of goes around the head to a degree
33:03
which is really eye catching and it's red and gold or blue and white-ish
33:09
the red and gold one in particular can be really hard to find stuff to balance with
33:13
so it's nice to see a whole set of red and gold stuff
33:17
which will now give you more options to balance with. Unless, of course, all the other gold
33:21
stuff is a slightly different shade, then you will spend the rest of your life desperately trying to
33:25
find anything that's even remotely the same color so you can match it up
33:29
But still, I am excited. That happens so often that it has
33:33
to be intentional. I'm convinced. I think I must have stolen someone's lamp in a
33:41
previous life or something. You made a monkey paw wish. Yeah, that makes sense
33:50
But there is actually some other transmog stuff that was datamined for patch 11.2.5
33:57
We don't always talk about this stuff before it's available, but it is so weird
34:02
I felt like it needed to be mentioned. Yeah, it's a little corny. But it's also a little spicy
34:08
It's very corny. You're going to understand new methods of pain, my friend
34:14
with these bread daggers. Ah, it's a French joke. That was so amazing
34:22
Boo. Anyway, yes, there is. If you've ever wanted to live the fantasy
34:31
of a rogue duel-wielding baguettes, your time is soon to come. Whoever designed this was playing Expedition 33
34:44
Yeah, you know what? I think you're right. I mean, especially the carrot things
34:48
Yep. Yeah, there's a baguette dagger. There is a ribs axe made of a rack of ribs
34:56
Because why not? There's a pot lid shield and back piece. A chili pepper mace and offhand
35:06
A carrot mace, which is literally a bunch of carrots that I assume you smack people with
35:12
If you've ever been hit by a bunch of carrots, you understand how painful that is. I have never been hit by a bunch of carrots before, but I..
35:20
Do you guys know what a potato gun is? Yes. They can also shoot turnips and carrots and very other things
35:28
Oh, yes. We had a garden, and yes, I have launched carrots at things
35:33
There's a stew pot offhand, which is actually really, really cute. There's a chili pepper one, too
35:39
Yeah, a corn mason offhand. A food fanatic shield, which has, you know, its emblem on the front is a knife and fork
35:50
It looks like it's supposed to be some kind of table, too, doesn't it? Like, if you look at it straight from the top in this picture, it looks like it's like a table
35:58
It's kind of neat. Oh, and the fork and spoon. Fork and spoon pole arms
36:05
And the fork one really does look like a fork. I mean, it's not your usual polearm device
36:13
The offhand part of it, I don't know. It's so coming in 1125
36:21
I think one thing that kind of works for this stuff in particular is that when the new transmog system comes, we will be able to set outfits for different occasions
36:32
So like when you start cooking, you could give yourself an outfit where you're holding a stew pot offhand and a bunch of carrots as a main hand
36:41
You could, you know, you could totally go all out on theming
36:45
Or if you just want to wield a thing of carrots in your hand and hit things with it all the time
36:52
That's that. Also, it's up to you. You can do it. And who doesn't
36:58
We still can't tame the bunny people, can we? Or play them
37:02
Imagine playing as the bunny people from Pandaria with a bunch of carrots in your hand
37:09
I mean, come on. Especially since they also have kind of the turnip-y looking carrots here
37:14
which would be even better for those guys. Yeah, so that's a thing that's coming soon
37:24
Also aren they doing the Yeah they doing like the villagers transmog stuff which is just various plain sets of you know looking like you a villager So you could just you know be you could be a good wife or whatever if they want to
37:36
So that could be your, I'm just wearing this at my house outfit
37:40
You can do that now too, right? Yes, you will be, you'll be able to set transmog sets by location, by profession, by activity
37:48
if you're in a dungeon or you're in a raid or you're doing pvp you could set a different set
37:52
that will automatically activate when you are in that location or start to do uh any of these things
37:59
so yeah i i feel like some of these kind of oddball sets kind of play into that really well you could
38:06
have a casual set that you wear at home you could get those pajamas off of the trading posts in the
38:12
past couple months and that's what you put on when you go into your house i think that's that's pretty agreed
38:22
I agree. Thanks, one of us owes the other a Coke. I disagree because that would be silly
38:32
But you're very good at being silly, Corey. It's true. It's a calling. Now
38:37
speaking of silly Corey, Heroes of the Storm. No, I'm kidding. Wouldn't that have been amazing
38:44
Yeah, it would have been amazing. I sometimes feel bad I can't say it to you because I know that it would make you happy
38:51
And it's nice to finally be able to make people happy in the world as crazy as this one
38:55
Instead, we'll make people happy with Hearthstone. Well, there was one thing I wanted to talk to Corey about
39:02
Corey wrote a post this week about wanting some new druid forms
39:07
Yeah, I'm a single issue voter on Midnight now. Yeah. There is only one thing I want out of Midnight, and Blizzard can give it to me
39:14
that hard, I'm sure. In some of the ancillary media that came out around Gamescom, there was
39:22
blink-and-you-miss-it moments out of the new Trials of Nalarak dungeon, the Imani dungeon
39:28
Nalarak is, of course, the bear loa of the Imani people, and as a person who plays
39:32
a bear druid a lot of the time, boy, do I want to be able to look
39:36
like Nalarak, because he's a cool big bear with giant troll armor and tusks
39:40
and who doesn't want that? which just you know Corey you want me to make you feel weird here
39:47
Yes. This has nothing to do with Nalarek but it does have something to do with the new race
39:51
that's coming in that has druids as playable class. I know that they get pangolin
39:57
and I'm not saying anything bad about pangolin. Yes but there's also a thing about
40:01
them transforming into a giant flying bat. Flying bats are cool? They get a bat form. I already have bat forms
40:10
They already have that for druids. Yeah. This one does not look like them
40:14
Go look it up. The thing is wild looking. The Haroneer have some..
40:20
I don't think we've seen all of their forms, but they have some cool forms. I mean, we've seen Haroneer NPCs
40:26
transform into their bat form, and it looks neat. Yeah. I'm all for it. My end goal
40:32
is that anything that shows up at Druid can turn into it, you know, animal-wise
40:38
Because that's what we should be doing. it doesn't seem like too much to ask for in my mind anyways
40:47
And you know, it feels like with all this bounty of transmog we are all getting
40:53
druids should get some cool things too. You should be able to wear some cool armor on top of your bear, you know
41:01
Yes, imagine that. Why don't we do that? If William the Pool can wear a red shirt for like a hundred years
41:06
why can't you just have clothes on your bear form? I can put a face on my cat
41:12
I talked about it in the pre-show they've already got the interface for it
41:16
just use the dragon riding one where you can customize your dragons
41:22
or your delve gliders just do that the weird the weird crown
41:30
in the dwarf set in the trading post this month you could put that on a bear head
41:33
it would look pretty cool that's just my opinion my god wait a minute
41:39
we can get them unicycles. Well, this has to happen now. I can't live if living is without
41:49
a bear in a unicycle who isn't being forced to do it
41:59
But yes, Hearthstone? Hearthstone. Hearthstone. Just keep making me talk about things
42:07
You don't have to, it just felt like you wanted to and I like to let people do things they want to do
42:13
A new Hearthstone mini set was announced and was released between this podcast
42:19
and the last podcast It was not announced the last time we recorded
42:23
this podcast, so a very short window of knowledge there Kind of your standard
42:30
They've really standardized what they do on these mini sets, which is
42:35
you get a certain number of cards, it's guaranteed that you get these cards, which is what I really like about them. And a new keyword
42:44
called Ancient Masks, which are spells that kind of, that give cards the stats and effects of
42:50
different classic cards. So it's kind of, kind of a little nostalgia thing. Like there's one called
42:58
Devil Soar Mask, which is an eight mana hunter spell, which sets a minion stats to eight, eight
43:04
and gives it charge, which is exactly like King Crush, the Hearthstone card. So
43:10
I don't know if they're great. I mean, it's you've got to play a minion and then you have to play an 8
43:16
mana spell. This is just one example. So it's interesting. It's very flavorful
43:21
It fits in with this Un'Goro theme with lots of mmm we've got... anyway
43:29
It's a it's a solid expansion. It's costs, uh, $15 in real money or 2000 in game gold
43:38
which in game gold is great because it is a non cash currency
43:42
It is a currency you can earn by playing. So this is actually some hearthstone cards that are very easy to get
43:49
And that's, that's what I like about it. So available. Hmm. I just wanted to say something else
43:55
but you're still going. So sorry. I was just going to say it's available now
44:01
so you can jump in game and grab it if you want it. Okay, speaking of grab it, there's a rabbit
44:09
See, I need to make that segue. I need to complain for a second
44:13
I'm sorry. I try to keep positive, but Darkmoon Faire's got another gotcha promotion coming
44:21
You don't remember the last one. We should clarify this is in Hearthstone
44:25
This is not the WoW Darkmoon Faire. No, not the WoW Darkmoon Faire. instead of a little
44:31
baby dinosaur like Baby Crush or something I forget what his name is
44:36
I hated it so much that they made it into a gotcha thing
44:41
that I ripped it out of my heart and threw it away into the void
44:44
they added pets to the game a month or so ago and they are so so cute and
44:52
so so expensive now we got ourselves I not kidding this is the name Rabbitath which is I guess a rabbit zalatath it is the most adorable baby bunny with a big cartoon eyes it is purple it is it is the most
45:18
perfect baby bunny yeah i mean unless you you aren't into the whole void thing then maybe you
45:24
would be concerned about this baby bunny but it's so adorable how could it be evil
45:28
but it does follow the same gotcha mechanic I hope desperately that this thing has a voice
45:36
I want it to have actual voice lines and I want the voice actor to still
45:40
be Claudia Christian just sounding you know that sinister glide of a voice
45:47
and the bunny doesn't wear shoes obviously because it's a bunny but we still look at its feet
45:54
all the time it's constantly floating there with its little bunny feet down and you just see those ah i i just i'm very mad that they keep doing gotchas
46:05
i just well apparently the last one was successful enough that they are doing another one
46:11
it is basically there are a range of prizes and they are pretty neat prizes there are some
46:17
bartenders for battlegrounds one for zalatath one for allyria which look really cool and i am
46:23
actually really interested in because I play a lot of Battlegrounds. The problem is, it is
46:31
spin to win. You spin and it'll go through all the prizes and it'll land on one and that's what you get. And each
46:39
attempt will cost a little bit more. And cost a little bit more. And the pet is extremely low drop chance
46:47
and you are, because you will get every reward by the end
46:52
You are very likely to only get this rabbit at the very end
47:00
and getting to the end will cost you about $160. This is where I would do a spit take
47:07
if I had any water left in my container. I think it's $158
47:13
So it's not... I was rounding up a tiny bit. So a little tiny bit less bad
47:20
but yes this is the exact same way the baby dinosaur was and it's
47:26
just I'm very unenthusiastic because it's like oh baby rabbit this is so cute
47:32
this would be so cool to have on my Hearthstone screen while I'm playing
47:36
but man it's not going to bring me $160 worth of joy
47:40
I'm really curious how well the first I could get the complete
47:45
oh sorry Joe was talking go Joe No, I'm really curious how well the first one did that they decided to do it again
47:52
Or if this was already locked and loaded and ready to go and they just are committed to like doing this no matter what
47:58
Because I didn't hear a lot of people going in on it and I didn't hear a lot of positive things about the last one
48:05
So I don't know. The last one, the first spin is free
48:12
So the last one I went in, I did the first spin. I did not get the adorable baby dinosaur
48:17
and I was like, no, I'm not going to get caught into this trap because
48:20
once you pay for one you're going to want to pay for two
48:25
and then you're going to be paying $160 to get the pet
48:29
That's pretty much my reaction as well. I mean, I literally, like I said
48:33
I reached into my heart and ripped it out and threw it into the void because
48:37
there's no way, because I know me. I'd be like, oh, well, it's a
48:41
second roll. It's just going to be some money and then you know i'm 10 rules down and i've got like everything but the thing i wanted
48:48
and i'm like come on come on i gotta get sell some organs come on daddy needs a new dinosaur
48:54
based on the drop rates and the extraordinarily low drop rate for the pet you you are very
49:01
unlikely to get it before the last couple of rolls so i find it really disappointing it's
49:07
kind of sapped my interest for the game as a whole because it's
49:11
You mean unfair monetization practices take you out of the game that you would enjoy
49:17
otherwise and make you spend even less money on it? Potentially? No
49:21
Say it ain't so. Am I calling the Diablo Immortal horn? Yes, except
49:26
Diablo Immortal does not sell you adorable adorable, painfully adorable pets. Yet. They just sell you
49:34
currency that you need to advance in the game. I will also say this
49:40
That $160 USD or $158 USD, that's enough to get midnight pre-orders
49:48
absolute top tier, the epic tier or whatever it's called. And then you'd have enough money left over
49:55
to go buy some other video game. A much cheaper one, obviously, but
50:00
you still have like $50 left. that's that's you know you know what you know what i would rather take some of that money and
50:07
go buy the game called wrestle quest it's an actual game or are you just no it's an actual
50:14
it's an actual game in which you play as little toys going on a wrestling adventure in a fantastic
50:19
little rpg and uh type game it's all ten dollars on like platforms i'll get more enjoyment out of
50:26
that than gambling on hearthstone at this point i can't remember the name of it anymore but there's a
50:30
there's a dark souls alike where you play as a crab another crab's treasure thank you another
50:36
that's so good it's so good yeah it's very good it is i actually played it it is the only
50:43
souls like i've ever enjoyed playing because it is it is completely berserk you are playing as a
50:51
tiny crab that is a better use of your money than spending 160 on a gotcha game that is designed to
50:58
make you like just pump money into it for no reason yeah i i mean i just i like the rabbit
51:06
i've said i've said it i've said it before and i'll say it again if you want people to spend
51:12
money on your game there are two things you need to do one make it enjoyable to play seems like a
51:19
simple concept but this seems to be very far out of reach for a lot of people that develop games
51:23
these days. And number two, if you want to sell cosmetics, just sell the cosmetics. Stop selling loot
51:31
boxes. Stop selling gotchas. Stop selling gambling rolls. If I wanted to gamble, I'd go to Vegas, or I'd go to
51:39
Atlantic City, or I'd go to Niagara Falls. Or I'd eat an Orange Julius or something
51:44
Or I would take my life in my own hands and eat an Orange
51:48
Julius. But this is not, this can't be healthy for the game
51:53
and the community to do stuff like this. Why not just sell the
51:57
pet at a premium? Again, what would you pay for this pet out of pocket
52:03
What would be your what would be your I'm willing to shell this out because this thing is so
52:09
stinking cute. At least 25 and I'd probably go up to 50 if
52:13
I had to. Liz? 50 is high. 25. I'd say 40 on the outside
52:22
Yeah and we seen that that works for like It worked for World of Warcraft You know what it would do to push people to the 50 price mark Say oh and half the money goes to charity
52:35
Oh, yeah, there you go. People would be like, oh, it's good
52:39
to do it. I also feel morally good as I satiate my lust
52:43
for small cute pets. You know, that's just... If they just sold this
52:49
it would feel less bad. If they just sold this, I would not be put off by it at all, even if it had a really high price tag. And it is a very cool thing. It is an
52:59
animated pet that responds to things you do. You can customize it, and it just hangs out on the
53:08
board as you play. It responds to you. It is really neat. It doesn't give you any gameplay
53:16
power, but it's a cool interactive thing. A little adorable pet that's just hanging out with you while
53:22
you play, while you play Constructed, while you play Battlegrounds, while you play Arenas
53:27
And it's just neat. It is super neat. It is worth some amount of money, just maybe not $160
53:32
Listen, for $160, I can go buy a Sega Dreamcast in good working order
53:38
and a copy of the year 2000 hit classic Seaman complete in box
53:45
And I can have... That one's a little weird, man. And I can have an interactive pet voiced by Leonard Nimoy
53:50
I know which one I'll spend 160 bucks on okay to get away from that mental image
53:57
I'm going to turn to Liz and say hey Liz can you do that thing you do for the site
54:04
so that we can then cover another couple things the fact that it's called Rabbitath
54:09
just kills me that part absolutely kills me so I want to tell all of you
54:15
glorious listeners that Blizzard Watch is made possible by you yes that is you sitting at home listening to us right now your support on patreon helps keep
54:27
the site running helps us thrive and grow at least that's that's the goal some weeks are better than
54:34
others on the thriving point but we try an attempt is made every week to thrive uh i want to thank
54:43
New supporter, John, who came in at $5 a month. That gives you early access to podcasts and an ads-free site experience
54:54
We also got Jonathan at $3, and that will give you just early access to the podcast, ads-free
54:59
You'll get them about a day, sometimes two earlier than everyone else, and no advertisement
55:05
So if you love our podcast, jumping in at three really helps us keep going
55:10
and if you can't support us I totally understand just being here listening really helps
55:18
if you can share our content with your friends share it on social media
55:23
that also really helps us if you're on a platform where you can like things
55:26
that also really helps us out so if you aren't following us on social media
55:31
you can we are blizzardwatch on Instagram, Threads, Twitter, Facebook and Mastodon at gamepad.club
55:39
We are blizzardwatch.com on blue sky and blizzardwatch podcasts on YouTube, where you can find all of my gloriously strange shorts that I have cut out of these podcasts painstakingly
55:51
I do all of this for you and for me because I think it helps the podcast for you to be able to hear these little things
55:58
So thank you all. And I really appreciate everyone who has pitched in to support us on Patreon
56:04
That keeps us going. Our support on Patreon right now is a little lower than we'd like
56:08
We're trying to bring it up by around $500. That would kind of help us keep it at our happy place to keep the site going
56:16
We're doing okay, though. But if you were able to pitch in, please do
56:20
And if you can't pitch in, I get it. And thanks for listening
56:24
Thank you, Liz. I'm going to try and jump into some of these because they are pretty important and we don't have a lot of time left
56:30
the Communications Workers of America has gotten about 450 of the Diablo, the entire
56:39
franchise's devs, to unionize. I do want to say that the Diablo Union, they do not
56:47
say it is a wall-to-wall union so it sounds like this is not everyone working on
56:53
Diablo, but it is 450 people which is a lot of people. That's a lot of people
56:57
I just want to read this one thing said by one of the people who has you know signed up um i just had it and then i of course i moved
57:07
away from it and so it jumped up ah here we go nav body team three senior software engineer
57:12
and in the organizing committee member he says i my entire career as a developer has seen my peers
57:18
and i pay the passion tax for working in the industry that we love it's like yeah i mean that
57:25
right there that is to me pretty much central to this whole deal uh an industry that makes billions
57:32
every year and can't pay people enough to live in the area where the game is being made and won't let
57:42
them be mobile or work from home you force them to live in the incredibly overpriced area that you
57:49
don't pay enough for them to live in but so yeah no this is great news i'm really glad to hear it
57:55
I would like it better if it was a wall-to-wall union, but you take what you can get. Yeah, I mean, any union is good
58:01
Microsoft has officially recognized the union. I will note that officially recognizing the union is not going to solve all of the problems
58:10
and we do see a lot of companies with unions drag their feet on making contracts and deals with the unions
58:17
So this is an early step. This is not the last step
58:21
They still have to, yeah, they still have to work out a deal with Microsoft for protections for their workers
58:27
I want to call out another thing in this article, another quote from one of the organizing committee members, Ryan Littleton
58:34
He said, the day after the third round of mass layoffs, I walked into the office
58:39
When I tried to open the door to the cafeteria, my badge was denied. For a moment, I wondered if getting breakfast was how I'd find out that I was part of this round
58:49
While luckily it was just a technical issue, none of us should have to live with that constant worry that we might be let go at the drop of a hat
58:57
A union allows us to organize across the industry to make great games and protect the developers who create them from the constant pressures of layoffs, passion tax, and crunch
59:08
So that really sums it up. Making games should not be miserable or punishing to those people who make games
59:16
That does not make better games. Nope, gotta agree with that one
59:21
I'm going to have to mention really fast, this is an Overwatch one. Summer Games 2025 is now live
59:26
and it's going to go until September 15th. It's the second, I believe, as we're recording this
59:30
so a couple weeks. And it's going to have Lucio Ball this year
59:35
We love Lucio Ball. Which I think you can now play in, you can play in Stadium now
59:39
No, it's in a third-person view. Yeah, which Stadium kind of kicked off
59:45
the third-person view, but you can play it in third-person, like stadium, not in stadium
59:50
Not actually in stadium. Okay, gotcha. But that's pretty cool. And here finally
59:56
Corey, September 2nd patch notes. Can you talk about them for like a minute or two instead of like we wake up and it's been 500 years
1:00:07
Was there Heroes of the Storm patch notes today? Yeah. There are new Heroes of the Storm patch notes today as we are recording this
1:00:15
And I added this to our list of topics just for you, Corey, because we need our regularly scheduled dose of hopium
1:00:26
I can't believe it. that's what i like that so yes new a big new heroes of the storm patch for september yeah let's look at this real quick
1:00:38
um first up if you fight underneath your forts keeps and core anyone you're going to have a
1:00:46
little bit easier time of defending because they will grant you some extra armor uh at least one
1:00:51
of your people some armor and a little bit of slowing on it so that means that it's a little
1:00:55
harder to dive on your towers and such and that'll make uh it a little easier to defend against like
1:01:04
cheesy tactics like loading up everybody in a medic dropship and dropping them on things
1:01:08
uh they've there's a lot of changes here to the map mechanics so it looks like that they've done
1:01:14
a big pass on balance and making sure that all the maps the map mechanic itself doesn't take over
1:01:22
the game and that it's still kind of about the heroes. Which is good because
1:01:29
some people would never play on certain maps just because they were like, oh, well, I don't like that mechanic
1:01:33
at all. You think it's possibly for consoles, maybe? You think they're going to try and get to get on consoles
1:01:43
There's nothing in here that, as I'm scrolling through it, that looks like it's going to be anything that
1:01:47
makes it easier to play on consoles. I think it's just a smoother experience
1:01:51
across your playstyle so that you never going to have that kind of big swing moment where just because your team did really well on the one map you can carry the game entirely Or just because
1:02:08
And then the next map you play, you don't have as much fun because your team is not doing as well
1:02:14
Because you don't have a giant Punisher from Diablo leaping over walls and chasing down next to the dead health heroes
1:02:22
Which he can't do anymore. No more leaping over gates. easier to kill all the little minions
1:02:29
Yeah, this is all like stuff to speed up your getting the mechanic
1:02:36
and then not make the mechanic so overwhelming. So there will be more mechanics to fight over in your maps
1:02:42
and they will be less of a big focal point. And if you miss one, it won't be the end of the world
1:02:50
That's what I'm seeing. All right, that's cool. And again, we will point out that technically they told us
1:02:56
They stopped development on Heroes of the Storm three years ago? Five years ago
1:03:03
Five years ago. It's been a long time since, you know, the world went insane
1:03:06
I have a hard time keeping track. But one last thing, because I saw this and I have to mention it
1:03:16
Team Asano, who if you don't know who they are, they made Octopath Traveler
1:03:22
And also Bravely Default. And Triangle Strategy. they're making apparently a Zelda-like
1:03:30
called The Adventures of Elliot The Millennium Tales and I hope that Elliot is not actually
1:03:37
ever having adventures in this game and it's just somebody else and it's done in that beautiful art style from
1:03:43
Octopath Traveler, Octopath Traveler 2 it's the 2.5D with all the Zelda-like stuff you would expect
1:03:51
it actually looks like minis and then you've got the little sprites
1:03:55
It's paper. It is really cool. Yeah. It's a paper Mario. Is that what you're going to say
1:04:00
I was going to say it looks almost like the sprites are like on like a like a paper book background almost like Yeah Like if you ever printed out those figures back in the 90s
1:04:11
they used to have cardboard boxes. You'd have the figure, and you could put it on a little stand
1:04:15
and that way you'd just add that. Yeah, it kind of does look like that. You're right
1:04:19
But I wanted to put it in here just as a quick little note because I thought it was really cool. There is a demo available if you are a Switch owner right now
1:04:27
I believe it's a Switch 2 because of the way that it runs. um so if you're lucky enough to have one you can play that demo now but it will be coming out for
1:04:36
the pc as well the demo is just not available quite yet uh so if you're interested in zelda
1:04:41
like games with that particular uh you know octopath art style uh with a score that matches
1:04:49
uh and you sort of like the real-time arpg stuff might be something for you to keep an eye on i
1:04:54
this one caught me by a surprise and i just wanted to throw it in there because i didn't know it
1:04:58
existed until i saw it i was like maybe other people will be interested in this so there you go i i can only say that octopath traveler at least i haven't played two yet but octopath
1:05:07
travel is one of the best jrpg type like hard hardcore jrpg type role-playing games i've played
1:05:15
in a long time and and two is right there and there yeah um i haven't gotten to play that one
1:05:19
yet but i really would like to i will also say uh this isn't just coming to bc it's also coming
1:05:23
for the PS5 and the Xbox Series X slash S. Well, there you go. Makes sense
1:05:28
Which means it's on everything. And that's pretty amazing because it means you'll have at least
1:05:33
two, if no, three. You'll have three mobile choices for this. The Switch 2
1:05:39
whatever PS has now, I know they've got like a million portable devices
1:05:43
and the new coming Xbox one. Well, there's a myriad of handhelds
1:05:49
The fact that this is coming out in a handheld playable form is really neat
1:05:53
because i mean as much as i have a wonderful gaming pc i'm i'm i'm getting it on the switch
1:05:59
like i want to take it with me yeah exactly it's the kind of thing that you'd like to take with you
1:06:04
i mean just the very idea of these guys doing a game even remotely in zelda wheelhouse fills me with a kind of longing I would definitely want to see what Octopath Traveler the people behind Octopath Traveler do with this
1:06:17
So, yeah. But I think that's going to have to do it. Oh, go ahead, Liz
1:06:20
No, I want to add one last thing, which we'll probably talk more about next week, which is that while we were recording this podcast
1:06:31
Blizzard released about a dozen articles about Midnight features. Of course they did
1:06:38
It's Tuesday. Literally, they were listening to us. It's a real news blast
1:06:46
So if you want to catch up with what's going on with Midnight, all of the new features coming
1:06:51
you can go to worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com and read all the articles they put out today
1:06:58
You can also go to blizzardwatch.com. I appreciate you if you do
1:07:03
And we will. This may mean we have more new midnight news to talk about next week
1:07:08
And if you can support us, because I don't think I mentioned this earlier, go to patreon.com forward slash blizzard watch where you can pitch in anything you can
1:07:19
It all helps. And thanks for listening, everybody. Extra thanks to you, Blizzard, for once again
1:07:27
Stabbing me in the heart. Thank you. seriously it's like they know it's like they have a camera they they have a camera in my office
1:07:35
that's the only thing they're recording the podcast let's release all of the news right now
1:07:40
but this has been wizard watch podcast guys uh thank you all so much for being here with us
1:07:45
