Tavern Watch Plays Rebel Scum, Episode 3: Fighting fascism with the power of friendship
Aug 25, 2025
This week we're wrapping up our game of Rebel Scum, a game of anti-fascist space opera that seems a lot like Star Wars -- so of course we just used it to play in the Star Wars universe! When an overwhelmingly powerful fascist Empire threatens those who want to see a better future for those around them and for the rest of the galaxy, what do you do? You fight back, you fight hard, and you don't stop until you win.
Join GM Phil Ulrich as the crew of the Furious Tooka makes their way to a hidden base on the other side of the moon of Salient II. That's no m--no, wait, that's a moon, with a perfectly ordinary secret Imperial base on it. Here's our cast of characters:
- Chris as Varin Jayne (Rogue/Vanguard), a Corellian with a starship who maybe was in it just for profit to start with but maybe — just maybe -- has a heart of gold buried down in there. If he sounds familiar to you, no he doesn't.
- Mitch as TB-WN2 (Robot/Fighter), a former assassin droid who has given up his life of killing for good. Instead, he brings a delightful accent, a calm demeanor, and a weird array of shapeshifting abilities to bear.
- Liz as Mia (Revolutionary/Expert), who is very definitely just an ordinary starship mechanic and definitely not a spy and elite hacker in the service of the Rebellion. Why would you even think that? You have some wild ideas, stranger.
- Joe as YHA-U, aka "Yeehaw" (Robot/Tank), a good-natured former mining droid who now fights to break the chains -- and necks -- of tyranny.
- Matt as The Orphan (Ronin/Fighter), a Wookiee and former Jedi Padawan who looks like he's been in a lot of fights and narrowly won them; he's a problem solver, as long as the problem can be solved with violence.
This is the third in a three-part game of Rebel Scum! Look for new episodes of Tavern Watch every Monday: next week we'll have a talk show episode covering the month's latest news!
This game was played with the second edition of Rebel Scum from 9th Level Games, a game of laser swords, space combat, and fighting back against space fascists trying to put their boots on your collective necks. If you're interested in getting this easy-to-learn game for yourself -- it's powered by the Polymorph system much like our prior games of Pigeon's 11 and Sentai & Sensibility, meaning it's lightweight and narrative focused -- you can pick it up in print (with free PDF!) directly from 9th Level Games: https://9thlevel.com/products/rebel-scum-2nd-edition

Hello and welcome back to our third episode of Tavern Watch plays Rebel Scum. um a game about fighting back
0:31
against jack booted fascist thugs in space. Uh my name is Phil Orick and I'll continue to be your GM for this episode.
0:38
Uh let's just run through our uh colorful cast of characters here. Uh starting at the top with Chris. Hey, I
0:46
am Chris. I am playing Varen Jane, our uh human curillion smuggler
0:53
uh who totally hasn't shot a bunch of people this entire Yeah. very cinematic
1:00
cutaways for each one of them. Uh, next up, I think we saw a new side of him last time. Uh, Joe,
1:06
hi, I'm Joe Perez and I am playing the lovable, and I'm saying that with a air
1:12
quote around it, uh, former minorbot turned rebellion,
1:17
uh, yeah, I don't even know what the word to call me, but there I was a darker side last time. Uh, Yha-u,
1:25
otherwise known as Ye-haw to his friends. Uh yeah, we're uh we're just we're just doing some some stuff that
1:30
may have required a content warning last episode. It's fine. Yep. Uh next up, uh the person who has
1:37
to handle putting the content warnings on things, uh Liz Harper. Hello. I am playing Mia, who is a
1:44
totally ordinary mechanic who just is coincidentally here and is definitely not a rebel spy.
1:50
Not at all. Doesn't definitely parlay that into advantage on every role either.
1:55
Uh, next up, Matt. Hi. Um, I'm sparing you me screaming in
2:00
Shrywook. Uh, I'm playing the orphan, a Jedi, sort of like an ex kind of a
2:07
Padawan who never quite graduated. Uh, got my face burned off somewhere. Had a lot of bad stuff happen. Now I'm here
2:13
fighting the Empire because, yes, that sounds like a good idea.
2:18
It's a positive thing to do. And last but not least, Mitch.
2:23
Howdy. I am playing TB-WN2. I am a reformed killbot and I am here to
2:30
fight some space Nazis. All righty. Uh, we had a lot happen last
2:36
time. Uh, Yehaul, do you want to give us a rundown on what happened during episode two for people who might have missed it or
2:42
forgot? Oh boy. Uh so yeah, we w up getting on planet and discovering that
2:49
General had been uh suspected of being well rebel. Uh had been essentially
2:54
picked up by the Imperials, taken to their hidden moon base uh and in their
3:00
place was Gleb or Greg, however you want to call it, uh who was not exactly the
3:06
nicest of folks to the miners here on the planet and uh was very much pro-Imperial.
3:12
So, we decided that we were going to show up and pretend to be Imperials. Well, a couple of us were while some of
3:20
us, in mainly me, went ahead to the mines to start trying to incite a riot. Uh, we figured that if we could incite
3:26
the riot, we could get Blake by himself, uh, and then go ahead and get the
3:32
information of where is, how long he's been missing, uh, and try to get him
3:38
back. Uh there may have been some broken bones and and appendages here and there,
3:44
but what's a little a little pain between enemies? It's fine.
3:50
It's just a couple. He didn't need those bones. Nope. Uh no, you guys did great. Uh that
3:57
is all correct. And I think now we probably uh Is there anything else that
4:03
you all want to take care of while you're on? Well, I want to make sure we get out of here before those four guys I
4:09
dropped crates on get out of the crates. Yeah, I think you can I think that can be I think that can be safely handled.
4:14
Uh if you want to uh if you want to kind of give me a
4:21
if you want to give me some kind of role to ensure that they don't like whether it's like a move roll to ensure you're hustling everybody fast enough or if you
4:27
want to do something. Let's go more with putting more stuff on the crates to make them harder to lift
4:33
like all the other crates. Okay. Uh, bury them. Bury them. Bury them and stuff. Uh, give me a might
4:40
roll. Okay, I'm going to go with telekinesis again. I can help with this. I'm a lifter.
4:48
Do Do you want to do it then? I mean, I don't think there's there's no help move here, is there? Uh, there's not, but you can both give
4:54
me a roll with advantage. I got an eight for a bot. That's a success.
5:00
Yeah, I've got I'm doing might. Uh, yes, with advantage. a a seven and
5:05
an and a nine, but I don't have a nine cuz it's it's a eight, so I think it's a
5:11
six. Yes, seven and a six. Okay. Okay. So, you both succeeded. Uh tell me how you tell me uh how you pile enough
5:18
stuff on these guys that they're going to be stuck in these crates for a while. I'm assuming that uh Yehaw is doing
5:23
something like just pushing over like a like a big load of ore or something on
5:29
them. I'm arranging it so that if they don't do this exactly correctly, even more boxes will tumble down upon them. I
5:36
am making this the most cursed Jenga I possibly can for these bootlickers.
5:43
Oh, kind of heavy heavy metal mouse trap. Yep. While he's doing that, I'm This is a
5:51
mine. Do they do any kind of processing here or is it just a straight up mine? Ooh. Uh, I think there are probably
5:58
smelting facilities further down. Okay, I'm going to look for a large um
6:04
basically a crucible, like a big giant bucket
6:10
full of metal that gets heated and I'm going to hang it on top of his Jinga tower.
6:17
Okay. If his jingga tower comes down, this thing is going to land on
6:23
badly, you know. Uh if anybody has ever seen any Star Wars movie, we know that none of these workplaces are OSHA compliant.
6:30
Yeah. I think there's absolutely just a crucible full of metal you can find to to ready for these guys.
6:37
So that's perfect. It's balanced on top. We have a moment where we're like, "Oh god,
6:42
no. It's good. It's okay." So it's currently just up there. The worst Minecraft.
6:48
Yes. Uh also, I believe uh you spent your star at one point. I believe you can go ahead and take it back for your actions
6:53
over the last couple of uh Okay. last couple of uh episodes. So, nude star. Click.
6:58
Okay. So, here's a question. Do I do I happen to get one for my cursed actions from last session where it was definitely an expression of self?
7:06
Uh you have I think I think you I think you still had your previous one. And stars are uh binary. Yep.
7:13
Have or don't have. So, uh yeah, don't don't worry about spending them. You can get one back by uh helping to dismantle
7:19
the machine of the empire. Okay. Uh, does anybody else want to do anything before you all get out of here?
7:24
Ye-haw and the orphan have very much covered your uh covered your trail here.
7:30
I just want to make sure we get out of here safely. Easy peasy at this point.
7:36
Don't go near that. Yeah, just don't touch the giant trap they made
7:41
and uh just keep walking. Yeah, just keep walking. Uh you can easily catch the shuttle back into town
7:47
and get to your ship. Uh which was again a landing pad in Vornac, the closest and
7:53
only town on on this planet. Um and you can be strapped in and headed towards uh
8:02
Secret Imperial Moon Base. Joe made a funny voice of it, but it's literally Secret Imperial Moon Base.
8:09
Uh yeah. Question. Do you do we think we have
8:15
maybe any codes that might authorize us to land at Secret Imperial Moon Base?
8:21
Friendship, I reckon willh get us through this. Friendship. Well, yeah, we got that. That's between
8:26
us. We're friends, so we're going to fight our way through this. But friendship and maybe also a way for them
8:32
not to shoot us out of the sky. Yeah, plan would probably friendship to be clear.
8:39
Uh, that's a good point. I would say so all Imperials carry something called a
8:44
code cylinder on them. Um I would say that maybe uh obviously this you could probably try
8:50
to interface it into a landing code if you wanted to give me an intel roll of some kind while the uh
8:56
intel roll. And in this case in this case since you are working on the ship while it's
9:01
taking off you also get to roll the ship's die. Um, and do I get to roll at advantage or is
9:08
you get to roll you get to roll with advantage for your edge. I don't think the ship's jammers or armor plating come
9:14
into play here. So, it'd be 2d4 plus a d6.
9:21
Failed this. That will be very That's a That's a three, a two, and a five. So, I think I have two successes.
9:28
Yep. Uh, all you needed was a single success. That works. Yeah. you. Uh so while uh Varn is getting this thing
9:34
fired up and you all are taking off back into space presumably to leave this planet forever because as I recall your
9:39
cover was ordinary freighter dropping stuff off. Uh you uh
9:45
ordinary Yeah, you managed to Yeah, you managed to kind of overwrite your previous
9:50
landing code with what appears uh for all intents and purposes to be a valid Imperial officer one. It will probably
9:57
only work once, so make it count. Well, we we're we're doing this. We're
10:05
going in and out. I'm not planning on coming back to this moon, so let's go.
10:10
Yeah. Luckily, you thought of that before I could throw a dog fight at you. So, uh
10:16
as you uh approach Adon, which is uh tidily locked to the other side of
10:22
Salanti 2 from where you approached, um yeah, it is a small, dark, airless moon.
10:29
Um, and on and you're kind of doing an air pass of it. No one really questions you because if their ships ping yours,
10:36
it just shows up as an Imperial freighter. Uh, the Empire does use these
10:41
uh or excuse me, as a corvette. The Imperial does use the Empire does use these from time to time, so it's not
10:46
drawing any real attention. Um, and you do find used to be like these used to be ships
10:52
before the war. So, yeah. Yeah. The the CR90 is like a workhorse of a ship. Been around forever. I think
10:58
everyone on every side of every conflict has used one at this point. Um, and you
11:03
find set into the moon, like you're just scanning it. It just looks like a boring gray, you know, sphere. And then you
11:10
find like a smooth like
11:15
like an ingot shaped base. I've lost the word for what shape an ingot of metal is, but kind of like that set into the
11:22
moon's surface and you are almost certain that that is the place you're looking for. Um, so it's because of
11:31
Mia's uh role, it's very easy for you all to uh land here if you want.
11:38
Alternately, um you probably have equipment for working in a vacuum. Um you could try to land somewhere else and
11:44
walk to the moon base, but that seems a little riskier. Um, I'll leave it up to you all what you want to do.
11:51
They did. I did my move. Someone else go for it. I say we we just go straight for it.
11:59
I think blasting in and blasting out's probably the best idea. All right. So, we're going for the
12:05
straightforward approach. Sounds good. Uh, okay. So, you land this uh you land
12:10
your ship in the uh like the a kind of a a circular slot kind of opens up on the
12:16
top and you can just kind of bring your ship down nice and easy for a landing uh in the base. Closes over top of you and
12:24
you're inside. What uh what do you do next? There are you can you can easily
12:29
see from just looking outside that yes this is
12:34
uh th this uh this base does have uh what looks
12:41
like several regiments of stormtroopers. You see some other Imperial officers around. Um this will probably come to a
12:47
firefight at this point um the second you step outside and are obviously not Imperials. I will remind you that a
12:53
couple of you did have Imperial uniforms, but a couple of you are not going to be a few of you are not going to be able to fake it. Um, so what would
12:59
you like to do next? I if if we're at the point where we're going to have a big fight, then now is
13:06
the time I want to get flashy. I think before we get off the ship, we need to start using the jammer to jam
13:11
their like any sort of distress sequence or anything like that. I can do that.
13:18
Uh, I assume I can do that. I can roll for that. I would assume you can do that. Yeah, you can do that while you're still on
13:23
the ship. Um, yes. So, and yes, this is a spy thing. So, now you're rolling with double
13:30
advantage. Give me 2d4 plus 2d6. And you're looking for a one, two, or three.
13:35
So much advantage. So many advantage. Uh, let's see. That's a
13:43
Well, I did get a two. All of the other ones are significantly higher than two. So,
13:49
that is wild. Uh, okay. Yeah, the two the two succeeds. Um, and like you don't
13:55
you don't hear anything obvious. Nobody really notices it right away, but uh your ship is kind of exuding a signal
14:02
that is jamming outgoing communication to this base. Uh, ADON base is cut off at this point. Um, I believe the orphan
14:10
wanted to get flashy now. Those jammers are only going to last so
14:16
long before they notice we're here. Yep.
14:22
What we need to find out is where they're keep in general, how fast we can
14:28
get them, and then we need to get out of here. Okay. My question is I was told that we
14:34
have like they they're going to attack us as soon as we come out. Like that's
14:40
soon as the ship is is landing, they're going to attack us. Is that correct? Uh once you start leaving the ship and
14:46
are obviously not supposed to be there yet. So, I want to literally
14:51
do the things Jedi do with Telegus and just kind of like jump off the ship before it lands and just do that landing
14:59
thing they do like you saw it in uh the first prequel where they just the three point the
15:05
three-point hero stance. Yeah. Yeah. Which is really cool looking because you are a Wookie. Yeah. And then when they're all like
15:12
assumably now fixated on me, I stand up, pop the lightsabers,
15:19
um, do a big scream in Shri Willak where I'm actually saying, "Look at me, dumb asses." Uh, and
15:27
as they're doing that, I am going to try to use the force to literally deflect
15:32
blaster bolts. All righty. Uh, yeah. So, that'll be a that's a blasters roll. Um,
15:39
if you have an applicable edge, go for it. Telekinesis force using the force to do it.
15:45
Okay. Although I have sword fighter, too. I could just do Yeah. You know what? Yeah, I think sword fighter fits better
15:50
in this case is you're doing the cool like that the blade reflect thing. Lightsaber parrying. So,
15:55
y 2d8. I'm trying to roll between a four and a seven. That's correct.
16:01
Well, one of those was a one, but the other was definitely a seven. So,
16:07
uh, yeah. So, both of those are actually successes because remember the one is your key value. It's as long as it's
16:13
something that your class can do, which as the Jedi, uh, the the Ronin, you definitely can do. Um, we're going to do
16:20
something we haven't done before. We're going to roll for effect. Roll me a d to see how many of these shots land home.
16:25
And if you roll an eight, your die explodes. My die explodes.
16:30
Yes, it will. It means it keeps rolling and adds to the eight. So, let's Okay.
16:38
Okay. Uh that that is in fact an eight. Okay. Roll again. Do I just keep rolling eights? Like you
16:45
uh Yep. You if you get another eight, you roll again. You keep rolling until you don't get eights and we add them all together. No, it's it's a six this time.
16:52
Okay. 14 is a lot of troopers to take out. But as the ship is sinking to uh
16:57
you know, sinking onto the landing pad, the the the legs are coming out, the pneumatics are kicking in. You are on
17:03
the ground and every eye is on this Wookie Jedi who just landed and
17:08
immediately aced 14 of these probably probably everyone that would reasonably be in and around the hanger with their
17:14
own blaster fire. Uh everyone else when you go to step out of the ship uh it's the orphan and a
17:21
pile of smoking bodies. Oh, I did not expect this. Okay, good
17:28
job. I give you a nod.
17:33
All right. Uh, what's what's next? What do you all want to do? I believe Voran suggested prioritizing
17:40
finding Genroe and getting him out of here. Yeah, I would I think that I think that's the play. Unless anybody disagrees.
17:46
Could I run to the nearest terminal and pull up a map of the station and see where we should probably go?
17:52
Uh, you sure could, R2. I mean, Mia, but yes, go ahead and uh go ahead and
17:58
interface with it. That'll be that'll be an intel role. an advantage.
18:03
Yes. Yes. Intel is almost always your thing when you're Yep. I know. Uh I rolled a two and a four, so
18:12
perfect. Uh yeah, so you find a map of the base. Um it's fairly sparse. Um
18:20
there's the usual things you might expect from something that has to house soldiers. There's the bay you're in. There's a barracks. Uh there's a
18:26
canteen. There's a, you know, fresher. Um, and then there's
18:32
um a facility that's just kind of a round room that's marked as monitoring and then a smaller room off of it that
18:39
is uh the moth's personal quarters. Um, you don't see anywhere that
18:45
obviously says like prison. So, um, you're guessing they're probably
18:52
keeping him in whatever monitoring is. That's that's the mystery space. So,
18:58
that is the mystery space. All right. Uh, what's uh what's anybody else doing here?
19:04
You know, for as much as I hate to say we should split the party because it's never a good idea. No, we we definitely
19:09
should not. We're already in Twilight. Uh, you were on the low end of Twilight.
19:15
You can split the party twice. But I will remind you that one of the other things that uh triggers Twilight moving
19:20
forward is uh a named enemy appears for the first time. And uh so far we know
19:25
there's at least one on this base that we are going to run into. So far Luca has not appeared on camera
19:32
yet, but it's bound to happen unless you get really lucky somehow. Yeah, I'm going to say we stick
19:38
together. Yeah, we we we should not split at this point. What's your next move then, though? I guess we start heading towards
19:43
monitoring. Yeah. Yeah, I'm going to go like try to go a little bit ahead and if anybody with a blaster shows up, I'm going to try to
19:49
basically stop them from shooting us. Uh, I think that's probably going to happen just about everywhere you go
19:56
because at this point blaster fire has been heard in the uh in the shuttle bay.
20:02
Yeah. Um, so yeah, you start heading the So you
20:07
probably moving away from the barracks though, which would be smart. Um, next stop would going the other way would be
20:13
the uh the let's say the canteen. Um, okay. There's maybe there there's not a
20:19
whole lot of uh a whole lot of troops here. Maybe just poking their head out though. Uh you know, they finishing lunch, kind of looking out saying, "Huh,
20:25
what was that noise?" Um looking out to see all of you heading down the hallway towards them. Uh two more troopers pop
20:32
out. Hey, you can't be here. Bash. I heard a bash. Who's bashing?
20:38
I'm I am literally going to try to clonk one. All right, give me a blasters roll.
20:46
Okay, that is a six. That is a successful violence. Uh, you
20:53
just barrel. You just barrel right through. Uh, roll for effect for yours as well. If you get anything over a two,
20:58
you're just barreling right through both of these guys. Uh, what what am I rolling? A d10 d8. Oh, sorry. It's uh it's whatever your
21:04
die is. Ah, well, that's a four. So, yeah, both. That does it.
21:09
You just kind of I was going to say, do you just like clap these two guys heads together? Yeah. Like it's like the little the little dwarf bot like puts
21:16
both of his arms out like like it's going to run for a clothesline, jumps up at the end, and just bangs their heads together.
21:22
Yeah. They just slide to the ground. Uh if this was a more cartoony version, you would definitely see stars around their
21:27
heads. They sink to the ground outside the canteen. Um looking inside. Don't
21:32
see any prisoners in the canteen. Uh next is I said you said you guys were
21:37
avoiding the barracks. So, next, unless you want to check in the uh the communal uh station bathroom, uh you can
21:43
monitoring is your next stop. Pretty sure they don't keep him in the bathroom. Probably not.
21:50
Just a good guess. Uh yeah. So, you this this base kind of
21:55
forms kind of a rough square and you open the door to monitoring which is kind of on the end of the base and it's
22:03
uh it's a round room. uh the center and the outside, excuse me, not the center
22:09
and the outside. The outside of the room, the perimeter of the room is taken up by um communications equipment both
22:15
in and out. Um you can see that currently a lot of them are reporting some kind of error message. Um and there
22:22
is a um uniformed Imperial officer kind of uh smacking one of the keys like I I don't get it, sir. I can't get anything
22:29
in or out. And there is someone in the that you recognize in the dress uniform
22:34
of a moth leaning over his shoulder going, "Well, try harder. This network is state-of-the-art."
22:39
Um, one of Yes. Yes. Moth. And you have now encountered uh as I attempt to turn
22:47
this die to a five and fail. Uh, Moth Luca, who is kind of an older man, uh,
22:55
white-kinned, very pale white hair. Uh, and he is he has not noticed that you
23:02
all barged into the room right this second because he's busy trying to get uh trying to find out what all the
23:08
reports of firefights on the base are about. But it's not going to be long before all of you Trump uh run in and
23:14
you have his attention. Um, what would you I get to do my cool things. I want somebody else to get to go.
23:20
You do. Um, I'll also tell you the other things you see in this room. There are two chairs in the center of the room that look like those uh chairs the
23:26
Imperials use when they are attempting to extract information out of people. Uh each of them contains a human male.
23:33
One a uh uh one a little younger than the other. Both uh kind of bear the kind
23:38
of the the roughl looking uh life of a minor has taken its toll on both of them. Uh also the fact that being held
23:44
in Imperial base and interrogated is not helping. Um, you can presume that these
23:50
are probably the two people you're looking for. I I would like to go over and help one or both of them depending on how close
23:56
they are. All right. Uh, yeah, you kind of clank your way over there. Um, I think the
24:01
sound of droid footsteps uh hitting the metal floor causes uh Desic to turn
24:07
around. He goes, "Hey, droid, don't touch those two. We still need We haven't gotten any intel out of them yet."
24:14
So, oh, okay. I will just continue not touching
24:19
them a little closer. And he kind of tilts his head. He's
24:24
mouthy droids. You're about due for a wipe, aren't you? How many people are in this room besides Desick and the and the two guys in the
24:31
chairs? There's like at least one other Imperial more. Yeah, there's one guy who's basically like Desk secretary
24:38
and then Desi. Uh, two prisoners and then five of
24:44
Um, so, so I want to do the cool thing. Okay, do the cool thing.
24:51
So, as as Varin uh is coming around the corner of the door and he sees the moth. Um, yeah, there's no hesitation here.
24:59
This is instant blaster up and firing and I'm burning my shining star because to burn to succeed when the result frees
25:06
someone. Yep. I don't even think any justification's required for this one. Anybody else?
25:12
No, I'm definitely thinking he he should be able to do that. Makes sense to me. It frees prisoners. It frees technically most of the system
25:19
because this is the this is the Empire's hand here. This is their this is control. Um
25:25
yeah, I think you just I think you roll into this room and you just pop them off. He's not expecting it. Um roll for
25:32
effect. Oh, that's a six. Okay. Uh keep going because it explodes.
25:40
Uh, and another six and then a four. Okay. Yeah, I was going to say if you
25:46
rolled low maybe maybe you maybe you kind of have him on the run, but I think at uh that high of an effect there's no
25:52
question. Like you run like Varn rolls into the room and just kill shot. Uh the
25:59
moth slumps back against uh the uh the console that he was leaning over and the
26:04
guy next to him kind of turns around and goes and like smacks a button. Yeah, I'll just slam him into the wall before
26:11
he can do anything. Okay. Uh, he's going to hit one very He's going to hit a very fast.
26:18
I'm sure he'll get the one, but whatever. I mean, it depends on the outcome of this blasters roll. Uh, it's a seven on blades, so
26:25
technically a success. Okay. Uh, his hand goes for the control and I think maybe grab him by the hand
26:32
with your telekinesis and just like yank him away from the console before he can, you know, sound the alarm to go, "Hey,
26:38
they're in here." Um, and he just goes across the room. Wilhelm screams his way across the room
26:44
and slams into the opposite wall. Um, none of that.
26:49
Yeah. So suddenly very quiet in here other than kind of there's kind of a uh
26:54
there is still an alarm going off indicating shots fired in the shuttle bay.
27:01
But uh I'm going to turn to Mia and and say in Shrunk maybe you could convince them
27:06
we're someplace else in the play in Yeah. I'm going to I'm going to rush to the terminal someone to free those two.
27:13
Get them out of here. Yeah. I'm going to go I think me and me and uh TB are already going to do that.
27:19
Yeah. I would like to try and set off an alarm somewhere not in the shuttle bay.
27:25
Okay. Uh you're I said you've got a choice between the barracks, the uh the
27:31
canteen, and the bathroom basically. Ple please
27:37
go. Barracks is the one place you didn't go. They're probably already there. So trying to set off an alarm to convince
27:43
people that there's an intruder in the barracks uh will be a disadvantage.
27:48
disadvantage. I know your least favorite thing. You'd have to roll an unmodified roll.
27:56
Um I can't I have to admit the bathroom probably makes more sense in the canteen.
28:01
Actually, okay, hang on. I'm thinking could I like
28:07
overload some electronics in the barracks that might cause an explosion
28:15
that would make them go, "Oh no, there is something happening in the barracks." Uh, yes. So, I think from here you would
28:22
have access to the door locking mechanism so you can override any door locks in the base. Um, I think if you
28:28
wanted to cause their lock to explode, uh, with an intel roll, yes, with advantage, you could try and do that.
28:35
Or you could just lock them in. Or you just lock them in. Or you could explode them. Explosion. Explosion.
28:42
I really want to explode them. I don't blame you. Uh, so yes.
28:50
Uh, that's a three and a two. So I think I'm okay here. Yeah, that's a success and also a
28:55
success on either die. So yeah, um you can't hear it from here, but you do see
29:01
that the uh so you see the the status of the lock. It's like barracks lock active, barracks lock active, danger,
29:09
danger, and then the barracks locking mechanism goes offline. So you can assume that you have succeeded.
29:15
Uh behind you, I believe uh sorry, go ahead. Could I while I am here make it
29:21
look like Greg's command codes like whatever code
29:27
that identified Greg? I like how we're just calling him Greg now. His name is Blleg.
29:34
Uh so you want to make it seem like Blleg did this? Yes.
29:39
Okay. Just accept his name is Greg Shippo. Man, I don't know why you why you're fighting us on this.
29:45
Greg Bleg the Gammorian foreman. Um yes. Go ahead and give me an intel roll. Um,
29:51
I am going to have you roll this one at disadvantage because they all think Blleg is an idiot who's not capable of
29:56
this. Uh, but it just offsets your regular advantage. So, you're just rolling.
30:03
But he's obviously a rebel spy. He obviously is. Ah, dang it. You set that You set that up. Ah, right.
30:10
Rolling. I'm trying to make your life hard for once. Well, I I rolled a
30:17
I I rolled a single dice and I got a one, which is my key, which should be a
30:24
success. It is a success. You did it. You did it. You did it. You This is actually even
30:30
This is actually even more appropriate because this isn't something you're doing because you're a spy. This is something you're doing because you are a rebel. So, you know how to fake rebel
30:38
activity. Um, you plant some evidence here. I would say maybe like fake recon
30:44
reports from like people who'd been monitoring Blleg's comms because you know they were doing that. That just
30:50
makes it look like Blleg was the head of a secret rebel cell the whole time.
30:56
I'm going to help the droids get uh the two out of the chair and carry him.
31:01
Probably me and uh and Yeiha are the best for carrying things.
31:06
I mean I don't know. TB has given up his life of killing. He's probably up for a life of helping carry.
31:12
All right. Well, if the two of them want to carry him, that's fine. I keep them. But I mean, I can get my lightsabers out.
31:17
Okay. Uh yeah. So, it's not too terribly hard, I would say, to uh take them out
31:23
of these chairs, deactivate them, unstrap them, and uh they're a little jumpy because, you know, one of you
31:29
looks like a killbot. Um, but Jimro and uh his husband Varlo both are, you know,
31:36
they kind of look around and then they see the moth slumped on the wall behind. Are are you are you here for us? Are are
31:44
you are you with the rebellion? Well, yes.
31:49
So, our message did get through. Okay. Well, no. Um, we were we were sent to
31:57
because you're you failed to check in and we didn't know what happened to you. So now we know what happened to you. And
32:03
we kind of he kind Yeah. He kind of massages his scalp. He's like, I guess okay, I guess that got their routing set
32:09
up before I could send it. So that's not a problem anymore. They're going to be looking at somebody else.
32:18
He's me. He's like, "Who?"
32:24
Let's just at the console just go ahead. Mia like continuing to type and just looks
32:30
over his shoulder. Uh Blair, of course, he's uh
32:37
We will not get your name correct, sir. I I gave this guy the simplest, stupidest oneable name.
32:45
We're fine. Ginro. Ginro Alair or Old Dane. But I got Bleg. Nope.
32:54
BL. Oh god. So yeah, Sophia successfully
33:01
ruined Ble's life back there. And uh the miners will be a jerk.
33:06
The miners will be a lot happier, too. Uh they've got two new targets to to worry about, and they'll be untangling
33:12
that for a while. We should probably get you out of here, though.
33:18
Yeah. General's kind of rubbing his fist. He says, "Yeah, I went back down there. I He says, "They don't know the
33:24
power they hold, and I want to make sure that these workers, you you know, organize that we're working for
33:30
ourselves now." I I look I look over, show them the feed.
33:36
I'll pull up I'll pull up any footage I can get from the planet to show off what's going on. I think you have the
33:42
camera feed from where you were uh cuz you had uh you had the the comm's unit that um the comm unit that uh Blleg was
33:49
using uh like near the door I guess. And so they can see the footage firsthand of
33:55
where the orphan takes Blleg outside and just tosses him to the crowd of miners and then Blleg disappears and you just
34:03
see a smile spread across Jinro's face and kind of his husband kind of hug each other and they're like one step closer,
34:10
right? At this point, my entire mindset is on clearing a path to the ship. So, I've
34:16
now began I'm not leaving the group, but I'm getting ahead of them. So, if anything comes at us, I'm ready to react
34:22
to it. Okay. Um Oh, I forgot to have this I forgot to have this happen. Um Liz, go
34:28
ahead and roll for effect for me to see how effective that mine or that door lock explody thing was.
34:34
Ooh. H. Okay. So, that's a D4. I rolled a three.
34:42
Okay. Uh let's see how many troops were left on base for you to uh block. Okay. Um
34:48
yeah, so I think out in the hallway it is
34:54
almost eerily silent after the way you came in. You can vaguely hear uh sounds
34:59
of alarm in the direction of the barracks. Um so not going that way seems pretty straightforward.
35:05
If you head back the way you came, uh, and you head, and it sounds like the orphan is taking the lead on this.
35:12
Yeah. Um, okay. When you get back to the shuttle bay, you can see that there are,
35:19
uh, five fairly confused looking uh, but still with their weapons ready to fire
35:25
at anything that moves. Uh, troopers. Uh, all that stands between you and Jenro's freedom.
35:31
I am advancing on them. Okay. Um, they're going to turn and fire
35:37
on you first. Make me a blasters save. And if you are deflecting shots,
35:42
yep, sword fighting. Make it an advantage. Yep. Two sevens.
35:49
Perfect. Yeah, you they don't touch you. They don't get anywhere near you. Even if they didn't have stormtrooper aim,
35:55
you just effortlessly swat every shot aside with your punch sabers.
36:01
Yeah, basically. It's it's they're basically shodd. Functionally, they're just small, and it's up to you. What do you want to
36:06
do to these guys? Um, right now, I'm I'm trying to make sure they're firing at me, which I assume is what's happening.
36:13
Um, when I get to them, I'm going to do the usual. One second I'm 20 ft away
36:19
from them, the next second I'm right there in them. Uh, and I just begin swiping. Like, it's it's not an elegant
36:28
technique. It's uh a trey. It's it's just murder. It it's the it's the Anakin
36:34
with the younglings that that you know stance. That's exactly the moves he used. It's that I'm just I'm just
36:40
killing them trying. Those references are all for you nerds. Uh go ahead and roll me a blasters roll
36:46
with advantage because this is definitely your sword fighter edge.
36:52
Um that's a four and a six. Those are both either of those would be a
36:58
Yeah, that they're both a success roll for effect for me.
37:05
Eight. Every soldier falls before the orphan.
37:10
Eight and two. Yeah. Every soldier falls before the orphan twice, which I guess is symbolic of you having them all. Use
37:18
it's it's carnage. Like you mentioned Anakin Anakin versus the younglings. They they're that level of unprepared
37:25
for even an untrained uh well not untrained ungraduated uh Jedi
37:30
especially. I don't have all the good stuff in the mind tricks but I this stuff I know you got violence.
37:36
Yeah. Uh and you use it well. Uh yeah your your path is clear. Uh everyone else can
37:42
everybody else comes in behind the orphan and he's just handling the problem um easily usher onto the ship.
37:51
Uh, is there anything you all would like to do next as you presumably take JRO home?
37:57
I guess you guys want to do that? I haven't checked. Yeah, I if he wants to go home, we're taking him home.
38:02
I don't think he can go home, right? Like I mean, no, cuz he'd be he'd be the head of an
38:08
active uprising, but that's what we want, right? Isn't that what what he wanted to
38:16
continue to keep these workers aware of their own power and whole and controlling the minds themselves?
38:22
Yeah. If if asked about it, that is what he wants. Okay. And we have framed someone else
38:29
thoroughly as the spy if Imperials come looking.
38:36
Fair enough. Also true. Yeah. He'll he'll explain uh also that about a it was about a week
38:43
ago that he was um basically uh bagged tagged off the uh you know off off the
38:50
mine and brought up here. Um they tried getting any info about the rebellion out
38:55
of him and he managed to play dumb for several days. Um, and then they brought his husband up as well. Um, not long
39:02
after, um, they both managed to hold out, but you know, he kind of looks over
39:08
and he's like, "I can't stand seeing him in pain. You all got here just in time." He says, "So,
39:14
yeah, put my hand on his shoulder and say something really, really consoling that just sounds like
39:20
he looks he kind of looks up at you and goes, "Thanks. That means a lot." I think kind
39:26
of looks at the rest of you. I got no idea. It does mean a lot.
39:32
It It really does. Okay. Um Yeah. So, I think if Yeah. If
39:40
no one tries to talk him out of it, what Varlo wants to do is continue organizing the workers here to stand on their own.
39:46
And once they're their own group, which doesn't seem like it'll be too hard at this point after uh the
39:53
groundwork that uh that Yehal put in, um that they would be willing to negotiate
40:00
uh with the rebellion uh for fairer terms and valuable supplies since in
40:05
about a year, not that he knows this, but in about a year, the rebellion will be setting up a uh base on a very
40:11
inhospitable planet. And you know, you need uh you need materials for a thing like that.
40:18
Uh is there anything you all would like to do as you return Genroe back home?
40:25
No, I mean I can't think of Go ahead. Oh, I I will turn into a cube again just
40:30
because I don't think Jinroe uh or his husband have seen that yet and I'm very proud of it.
40:37
Uh okay, please roll move to do your favorite trick.
40:43
And again, the ship does not help here. No, the ship beeps. The ship beeps
40:49
encouragingly, but cannot It's actually just It's actually just Varn flipping a switch to make it beep.
40:57
The ship is not I flew too close to the sun and I did not roll successfully.
41:03
He turns into He turns into a dodcahedron. I was gonna say he turns it Yeah, you turn it you turn into a dodcahedron and
41:09
kind of roll yourself across the ground. Uh except my face.
41:15
Oh, it it looks very silly. Um I don't think we get a danger or anything for it. Um but yeah, you just you you kind
41:22
of roll across the the inside of the ship and he's like that's a cool trick.
41:28
Pretty impressive, right? Yeah. He shoots you the the thumbs up
41:35
that he definitely means. Um, they are very happy to be off the
41:40
ship. Weird dice robot.
41:46
Um, yeah, I think you do see as you uh land back at your same landing pad like the
41:52
um the people who were there, remember there were a couple storm troopers there who were basically acting kind of like
41:58
customs. Um, you see them kind of off to the side like where they had a uh a conversation set up. They're both kind
42:04
of like tapping trying to get like any update on why uh inbound Imperial
42:10
communications have been severed kind of looking at each other confused. They honestly don't even see you land. So,
42:16
it's very easy for Gro and Varlo to kind of get out right behind them. Um, is there anything else you all would
42:23
like to do here on this planet? Out of respect for uh TB, I'm not going to kill
42:28
those guys. Oh, my robotic heart. I mean, unless you want me to because
42:35
you sounded disappointed. I can go over there. No, no, I'm touched. That's all. It's not disappointment. I'm just very moved.
42:41
All right. I I don't want to upset you. Mean Meanwhile, we have to start worrying about the orphan becoming way
42:46
more dark side. Not really. I'm already You have done You have done a lot of
42:53
killing today. So there is a little bit of concern there uh for for your I mean to be fair even like Jedi when
43:00
they pull the blades out they just kill people. Even Obi-Wan did it's you know it's it's a thing.
43:07
Yeah. Yeah. You don't draw a weapon unless you're intending to use it.
43:13
Mhm. But yeah no I'm sorry. Go ahead. Yeah. I was going to say if Varner Yehaw
43:19
don't have any more uh don't have any unfinished business here, then I believe the uh the crew of the Furious Tuka
43:25
takes off from Salient 2 and gets the heck out of here to their next mission. Mia having successfully framed Borg
43:33
for everything. Yes. Uh Borg is definitely going to pay the price. Yeah, take that Blake.
43:40
There's probably a bunch there's a bunch of aliases now under his name. He does, but they're all terrible. leg
43:47
alias blog alias Greg alias Greg Shipo alias plague
43:55
uh Phil thank you very much for running this for for us uh fantastic job as always thank you to our players for
44:02
showing up fun as always I'm happy you were able to get a little bit of Mitch not nearly as much chaos Mitch as I'm
44:08
used to so I mean I I tried to play it less chaotic I I appreciated that I noted it like I'm
44:13
just calling it out for those at home is like I'm giving you his sticker. Mitch tried to pitch me. Mitch tried to
44:19
pitch me as his name being the bot with no name. I know. I read that. TB.
44:26
He still did it. TB. He still did it, but he made it in character, so I'm begrudgingly okay with
44:31
it. But uh yeah, Mitch, it's been great to have you. Obviously, I've run for these guys before, but it'd be really cool to uh run for you, too, in the
44:37
future. Thanks everybody for playing. Uh I want to tell you a little bit more I want to tell you a little bit more about our game before we get out of here. Uh
44:43
we have this was us playing Rebel Scum. I said an anti-fascist space opera aka
44:48
Star Wars with the serial numbers filed off. It is yet another polymorph powered game by Ninth Level Games.
44:55
Ironically, it works really well as just a straight up Star Wars game using the Star Wars setting. It It's works pretty
45:01
effective. Yeah, you you could really play it either way you want. If you just want to play Star Wars, this king runs a perfectly serviceable Star Wars game. If
45:07
you want to play with their included setting, which they have, uh, it's a little on the nose, but it does a
45:14
perfectly good job of just letting you and your friends roll some dice and kick some space Nazis in the face. And really, isn't that what we all want at
45:20
the end of the day? Um, so you can search for Ninth Level Games on your search engine of choice. I believe it's
45:26
ninth level9th level.com, and get your own copy uh in print and PDF.
45:33
Uh, anybody got anything else to say before we wrap it up and get out of here? No, thanks everybody for listening.
45:41
And thanks everybody for playing. That was really fun. Yeah, it was good. Blizzard is made possible due to the
