This week marks 600 episodes of the Blizzard Watch Podcast, so instead of just one guest host, Cory, Liz Patt, and Mitch all joined Liz Harper, Joe, and Matt to celebrate. One of our guest hosts in particular had a lot to celebrate, as Cory proceeded to rub it in all our faces that he was right, that Heroes of the Storm is so incredibly back with new hero Xal'atath, and he takes his accolades for being RIGHT in the form of a cash payout. We find out later in the show that Liz P. was less enthused about various BlizzCon announcements, but I don't want to spoil that for you.
Then we move on to the actual new hotness, WoW Forever, which Liz H. was playing during the livestreamed recording. The crew talks beta access, and whether it ruins the experience. Liz says it wears the shine off, while Joe doesn't have any problem playing the beta and then the live game.
Plus, the crew has some ideas for Diablo 5. Don't we all.

Hello and welcome to Blizzard Watch, the
0:14
podcast where we talk about Blizzard
0:15
Entertainment and its many games and
0:17
then occasionally a dinosaur. Uh, I'm
0:20
Matt Rossi. I'm host. This week, we've
0:22
got a whole bunch of people, and I'm
0:24
going to try really hard not to mess up
0:27
introducing them. And I don't say that
0:28
for any particular reason. [laughter]
0:31
First up, Corey.
0:34
>> Hello. It's me. I get to be first this.
0:36
>> Yes. And now I'm going to introduce
0:38
Mitch because I I'm weird. Mitch,
0:41
>> hi.
0:41
>> Remember that time I didn't throw you
0:43
into a swimming pool and you thought I
0:45
was
0:45
>> I was so ready for it. I [laughter]
0:47
>> Yeah, you were totally ready. You were
0:49
>> I got a hotel with a pool just so you
0:51
could throw me in it.
0:52
>> Yeah. And I didn't do it. I never
0:54
intended to do it anyway.
0:55
>> Always always keep me on my toes.
0:57
>> Well, it's more like, you know, I I'm
0:59
late. Like actually saying it, sure,
1:01
that's easy enough. But doing it now,
1:03
I'm going to have to figure out if I
1:04
should tackle him into the pool so we
1:06
both go in. Just a whole lot of thought
1:08
and I didn't want because I'm late.
1:10
Anyway, um next up, just keeping
1:12
everything rolling, Liz Harper.
1:16
>> I'm It's me. I'm Liz. I'm here. Yes. And
1:19
also Liz Pat.
1:21
>> Hello. It's me. I'm also Liz and I'm
1:23
also here.
1:24
>> Uh if they touch, they don't explode.
1:27
They're not antimatter.
1:28
>> Are you sure?
1:29
>> I don't We have witnesses that saw us
1:32
hug a couple months ago.
1:34
>> That is true. It's been more than a
1:35
couple months at this point. I hate to
1:37
>> That can't be right.
1:38
>> No, it doesn't sound right at all.
1:39
>> I don't know. I wasn't one of those
1:40
witnesses.
1:41
>> That person attesting to the fact that
1:43
the Liz's don't explode is is Joe, by
1:46
the way. Say hi to Joe Perez. Uh, he
1:49
can't hear you, but say it anyway.
1:50
>> I'm like the watcher. I see everything.
1:53
>> Yeah, I'm hoping that's not true for
1:55
your sake.
1:56
>> No, this is why I shouldn't have to say.
1:58
>> We're good.
1:59
>> All right. So, this is our sixth hundth
2:02
episode of the Blizzard Watch podcast.
2:04
And as part of this celebration, we've
2:06
obviously dragged a whole bunch of
2:07
people onto the show with us, and we're
2:09
going to try to get them to talk as much
2:10
as we can so that the three of us who
2:13
talk all the time talk less. You say
2:15
dragged like I didn't volunteer.
2:17
>> Cory was literally
2:18
>> see why we were brought. [laughter]
2:20
>> You know the uh the meme of I think it's
2:23
Eric Andre like at the gate of the White
2:26
House like at the fence screaming let me
2:28
in while shaking himself back and forth.
2:29
That was Cy getting on trying to get on
2:32
the podcast to speak about one very
2:34
specific topic which we're going to talk
2:36
about here in a second.
2:37
>> We just we're just going to let him talk
2:39
about it now. Corey.
2:40
>> Oh, I don't know what I want to talk
2:42
about, guys. I was just No, of course I
2:44
know what I want to talk about.
2:45
[laughter] I told you so. I told you all
2:47
so. And you all laughed at me and said,
2:49
"This Cory
2:52
was doing some heavy lifting."
2:53
>> Excuse me. Excuse me, good sir.
2:56
>> No. No. Cory, let's be upfront. I did
2:58
that.
2:59
>> Me,
3:00
>> all of you is one person
3:02
>> as [laughter] the host.
3:03
>> Listen, you're forcing Mitch and I to
3:05
align. This is bad.
3:07
>> I know. [laughter]
3:08
It's It's
3:09
>> imagine that a purple beam is coming
3:11
down from Mitch and an orange beam is
3:13
coming over from Joe. And Liz is
3:15
probably going to fire a green beam
3:16
because she too like every week she'd be
3:19
like, "Let's get Corey to talk about
3:20
Heroes of the Storm." So,
3:21
>> well, if Cory's here, you have to talk
3:23
about Heroes of the Storm. Which is
3:24
funny because earlier I was like, "Do we
3:26
really need to talk about Heroes of the
3:27
Storm?" No, no, Cory's here. We got to
3:30
talk about Heroes of the
3:33
>> Yeah, we're back, baby. The to kick off
3:36
Bliss. I mean, I don't know how much you
3:37
guys talked about it last week, but to
3:39
kick off Blizzcon.
3:39
>> He doesn't even listen to the podcast.
3:41
Listen, that that admission.
3:43
>> I was busy.
3:44
>> I'm hurt.
3:45
>> Fired. Who's busy playing hots?
3:47
>> I don't No, Cory wasn't. We're going to
3:50
talk about that later.
3:52
>> Yeah. Okay. Yeah, that's right. He
3:54
wasn't.
3:54
>> I wasn't. [clears throat] Okay. But to
3:56
kick off Blizzcon with Heroes of the
3:58
Storm announcement, to have Joanna
4:00
Ferris come out on stage and start the
4:02
whole show with if I didn't get to talk
4:05
about this, I was not going to show up
4:07
is amazing. Like that was the best news
4:10
I could possibly hear. And then they
4:12
they brought out with one of the one of
4:15
the heroes that I think everyone assumed
4:16
that if it was coming back would be put
4:18
in just because she's so everywhere and
4:21
we're getting Zalot in the Nexus. And
4:23
she's a lot of fun to play and she's
4:24
real squishy and she does a lot of
4:26
damage. She's currently on the BTR for
4:28
another couple days. Uh if you're
4:29
listening to this,
4:30
>> she's a real shadow priest.
4:32
>> She's a real shadow priest.
4:34
>> Look, it may not be an IKOA shadow
4:36
priest, but we got Zelat, so I'm pretty
4:39
happy. Yeah, your exes. Your ex is now
4:41
in here the storm. How you
4:42
>> hold up ex? When did we become exes?
4:45
She's my girlfriend. [laughter]
4:48
>> Oh boy.
4:48
>> Yeah, you just keep telling yourself.
4:50
Um, is she wearing shoes? That's That's
4:52
right.
4:52
>> She is not. The the hero spotlight even
4:55
references that she has cold feet
4:58
and one of her one of her talents is
5:00
cold feet, which will slow people down
5:02
that are caught in her three-way. I have
5:05
I have to bring this up because this is
5:07
the perfect segue and we don't have
5:09
another opportunity for me to do this,
5:11
but because this is our 600 episode,
5:13
some folks may remember this. Many many
5:15
many years ago, we had a thing where we
5:19
were jokingly predicting what the next
5:21
old gods were going to be when we saw
5:23
Yagsaran was just full of mouths. And
5:25
one of those images that we had on the
5:27
site, the former site was literally was
5:30
Yagsaran with all the mouths replaced
5:32
with feet. And I just feel like
5:34
[laughter] this was just foreshadowing
5:35
for Zalot. And we can claim credit here.
5:38
Throwing that out there. [laughter]
5:40
>> Lizard watch officially.
5:42
>> Yes.
5:43
>> Push for all your foot fetish needs.
5:46
[laughter]
5:47
>> Oh boy. Oh boy. So, not only does Heroes
5:50
of the Storm come out and they have a
5:53
fantastic little trailer that focuses on
5:55
Janitor Leoric, community figure that uh
5:58
everyone rallied around the concept of a
6:00
of the janitor left in the building when
6:02
they put heroes into maintenance mode,
6:03
has just been [laughter] spending his
6:05
whole time working on improving heroes.
6:07
So the trailer shows Janitor cleaning up
6:09
the Nexus and Zealot comes out and
6:11
[clears throat] blows it all up and then
6:12
he's happy and angry because his hard
6:15
work was just ruined. But he gets to do
6:16
what he loves again cuz the whole time
6:18
he's sad about missing.
6:19
>> It's more emotional range than real
6:20
Leoric. I forgot.
6:22
>> Oh yeah. No, this is what Heroes of the
6:24
Storm is good for is showing emotional
6:26
range on characters that had none in
6:28
their original properties. You saw them
6:30
for one boss fight, which is one of the
6:32
reasons why I'm glad it's back. Uh Zalat
6:35
shows up. She has a ton of fun voice
6:36
lines written by Anne Stikney, who we
6:39
all know as Ann from the the site before
6:42
she left us to get a cool job. And uh so
6:45
we get we get this amazing trailer and
6:47
then in the panel and in the there's a
6:51
few interviews with them. We have
6:52
actually gotten to meet the actual
6:54
janitor and his name is off the top of
6:57
my head. I'm missing it right now. I
6:59
wrote [laughter] it down somewhere and
7:01
it's right in front of me right now. His
7:03
name is James
7:04
>> and he is the lead game producer. He's
7:06
been at Blizzard for uh since 2015 and
7:09
he was put in charge he he worked on
7:11
Heroes for a little bit and then he was
7:12
moved on to other stuff. But in 2022
7:15
when they put it on maintenance mode, he
7:17
was put in charge of Heroes and so he
7:20
got to show up to work one day and walk
7:22
into that room and see his team of
7:23
people. So he's not the only janitor,
7:26
but he is the head janitor of Heroes of
7:28
the Storm. and he saw his team of people
7:31
and they they sat down and they had a
7:33
very realistic talk about where the game
7:35
was and the path back to now and getting
7:39
to build building up the tech so that
7:41
they can work on it as a smaller team
7:43
and getting the balances out there and
7:46
realistically looking at things that
7:47
they can do and accomplish. And it took
7:49
them four years, but we have a new hero
7:52
release in Zelat. And if the community
7:55
continues to rally around and play
7:57
Heroes of the Storm a bunch, show that
7:59
they're willing to engage with it and
8:01
have fun playing it. There are more
8:03
heroes coming down the line. They they
8:05
said Joanna said plural heroes. We don't
8:08
know who that is yet. Um, one of the
8:11
interviews intimated that it would be
8:13
someone from Blizzard history, a known
8:16
like they're not probably going to do
8:17
any more original heroes hunt for a
8:19
while, if ever, just because there's so
8:21
many characters to choose from. It's
8:23
going to be Blackthornne. It's going to
8:24
be Blackthornne finally.
8:25
>> It could It could be Blackthornne. Uh my
8:28
guess was Ball because then you get your
8:29
prime evils in the game, but uh
8:31
>> yeah, that that's kind of my my guess is
8:32
too.
8:33
>> I I could absolutely see that with Joe.
8:35
>> They didn't even give Ball his own
8:37
expansion for D4.
8:38
>> They did.
8:39
>> I can't believe you're not mentioning
8:41
the obvious choice here, which is
8:42
Nathanos. [laughter]
8:45
>> So, surprisingly, also on my list of
8:47
people that I'm I'm like, this is
8:49
possible, right? Cuz like we haven't
8:51
seen him in a while. Sylvanas is in the
8:53
game. It's something that you can have
8:55
interesting interactions with. Uh and
8:57
it's another
8:59
>> he does the voice for like the Raven
9:00
Lord, doesn't he?
9:01
>> Yes, he does.
9:02
>> He does. Yeah.
9:03
>> Yeah. And like I I totally forgot
9:05
Zealot's the voice like uh her voice
9:07
actress does
9:10
for the spider queen.
9:11
>> Yep.
9:12
>> Yep. Yeah. So they they're all over the
9:15
game. It makes total sense to put
9:16
Nathanos in. Give Sylvanas a fun little
9:18
foil. He's kind of a hunter thing going
9:21
on with some pets. We don't We have
9:23
Rexar already, but we don't have
9:24
somebody with two pets.
9:26
>> Thank god we have Rexar to be honest.
9:27
>> Well, yeah, they could like I was
9:28
thinking that too like he could wind up
9:30
being a beast master hunter if they
9:31
really really wanted to.
9:32
>> Yeah,
9:33
>> cuz Sylvanas is a marksman hunter.
9:35
>> He's also got a whole like world boss
9:37
fight around him you can pull abilities
9:39
from and all the original quests like
9:41
with his two dogs. Yeah, like there's
9:42
there's a lot there actually. And if he
9:44
shows up in the Nexus, it means he
9:46
survived. And that's basically the only
9:47
requisite to be a survival hunter.
9:49
>> He's he is well weapons.
9:53
>> We're basically just going to make
9:54
>> Why am I even here
9:55
>> this whole thing? [laughter]
9:58
>> Listen, I'm I'm over here playing
10:00
Warcraft Forever. It's fine. It's
10:02
[laughter]
10:02
>> I I just felt multiple guild hunters
10:06
shudder.
10:07
>> You know, in honor in honor of Warcraft
10:09
forever, let's be honest. The next
10:11
Heroes of the Storm here is going to be
10:12
basic campfire. Let's jazz it up. There
10:15
you go. Yeah. No,
10:16
>> but see basic
10:19
>> but basic campfire. Basic campfire is
10:21
supercharged in forever. I mean this is
10:24
like this is a powerful ability. The
10:27
power of the campfire. There would be an
10:29
>> but that actually that would be
10:31
someone's trait though. Like if they
10:33
pull a character from forever busting
10:36
out the like superpowered campfire would
10:38
be their trait.
10:39
>> So I think they did
10:40
>> we're breaching we're starting to cross
10:42
topics. So, I think I mean
10:45
>> let Corey finish on Heroes of the Storm
10:46
because I I do I want I'm itching to get
10:50
into WoW forever here.
10:51
>> What can I say except I'm so glad it's
10:52
back. Um
10:54
>> me too, actually. Like super super
10:56
happy.
10:56
>> Super happy. You can buy the Zalat
10:58
bundle right now. If you do it before
11:00
she gets off the PTR, it's $30 Canadian.
11:03
I don't know what it is American, but uh
11:05
you get an extra special you get a a
11:07
pinker skin for one of for buying it in
11:10
the Blizzcon window. Uh, otherwise you
11:13
get a cool Twilight's Hammer inspired
11:14
thing with some extra menace to it and
11:17
uh and the Ashes of Allar or whatever
11:19
the new Phoenix was called out of the uh
11:21
first raid of midnight.
11:22
>> So she floats and her mouth has pinker.
11:26
But
11:27
>> yes, exactly. No, they they all look
11:29
really cool. Um, one of them honestly
11:30
looks like uh like it is very pink.
11:33
Looks like something that might have
11:34
actually been in the Heroes of the Storm
11:35
like Valentine's patch back in the day.
11:37
Uh, and the other has like like dark red
11:40
and black vibes like it. Yeah, really
11:42
cool.
11:43
>> It's well done. And if you log on again
11:46
and check the battlelet right now, you
11:48
can even get a free bundle with a mount
11:50
and a portrait and a 30-day game time
11:52
booster uh just for Blizzcon. Uh, that
11:55
goes until the 27th of September. So, if
11:57
you're listening to this on Friday, you
11:59
got two days, but again, free. If you
12:01
want to play heroes and ride around on a
12:03
cool neon blue wolf, now is your
12:05
opportunity. And really, why wouldn't
12:07
you? Um, but since we got people that
12:10
actually have played or are playing it,
12:12
let is let's talk about World of
12:14
Warcraft Forever. Um, Liz, since you are
12:17
playing it right now, uh, how talk about
12:20
it. What do you feel about it? How's it
12:21
going? You do you feel like it's
12:23
engaging so far?
12:24
>> Uh, it's definitely engaging. And, you
12:26
know, I How many people here played
12:29
classic? Raise your hands if you played
12:31
classic.
12:31
>> I did.
12:32
>> Classic or vanilla?
12:33
>> I played vanilla.
12:35
>> Classic.
12:36
classic.
12:38
>> I leveled to 60 in classic. Uh but then
12:40
I kind of dropped off.
12:41
>> I I did level some in classic, but I did
12:44
not get anywhere close to 60. Um
12:48
so the thing about classic is, you know,
12:50
we went in and it's all no changes. And
12:53
it's like this is a game I played
12:55
before. I've I've been here. I've done
12:58
that. I have gone through these
13:00
mechanics and in I mean there's there's
13:03
something to be said for the nostalgia
13:04
of it, but at the same time it's like
13:06
I've I've done all of this. I've done my
13:09
time doing this particular kind of grind
13:12
and I don't feel like I need to do it
13:14
again. So I I lost interest. Even in um
13:18
Season of Discovery, which did have some
13:20
new content and some new gameplay
13:21
mechanics, including some cool class
13:24
combinations, which we don't we still
13:26
don't see in forever. Um, you know, I
13:28
was kind of like, yeah, I've done this.
13:30
I've done this. I don't feel like I need
13:32
to do it again. I leveled for a little
13:33
while and then I gave up because then
13:35
also there's so much to do in Modern
13:37
WoW. But forever feels, you know, pretty
13:41
fresh. It's updated some elements of
13:44
gameplay that really improve it. Like
13:46
one of the things is if you play it in
13:48
vanilla, you know how long it could take
13:52
you to kill to go through a quest. like
13:55
I thought let's get 10 bear pelts except
13:59
you know there are 20 other people there
14:00
farming bear pelts and you're getting
14:02
like there's no multi-tagging you're
14:04
getting one bear every 10 minutes and
14:06
it's just
14:09
and so here this is a good example of
14:12
how WoW Forever is trying to add some
14:16
modern elements of gameplay but keep
14:18
that s that classic feeling and keep
14:22
that sort of classic community element
14:24
moment.
14:25
>> I I was going to say I mentioned this on
14:27
the on lore watch. Highly recommend you
14:30
go listen to it. U you know because I
14:32
produce the show please. Um but I
14:35
mentioned it like the it many when
14:39
Classic was first announced I made the
14:40
statement on this podcast that you can
14:43
never go home again. And part of that is
14:46
uh the feeling of the community but also
14:48
the world being new is a big thing with
14:52
that. And so with going back to classic,
14:55
they were never able to really capture
14:57
for me at the very least. I'm not saying
14:59
for everybody, uh, but for me that feel
15:02
of vanilla because the world was brand
15:04
new where here they're going back and
15:08
examining that. And I think that's what
15:10
really sets apart. You have the grind
15:11
and everything else, but they're
15:14
exploring more of what if you explored
15:17
the world instead of, oh, we finished
15:20
dealing with Max Ramas, now go to B, no,
15:23
go to Draanor and and go to Outland and
15:26
forget about exploring the rest of the
15:27
world. It's what about all the stories
15:29
in between? What of all the places in
15:31
between? Actually exploring the spaces
15:33
that never got anything put into them
15:35
and what could have been there that make
15:36
logical sense. And so in a very real
15:38
way, they're doing the thing that I
15:41
really wanted them to do with classic,
15:42
which was find a way to make the world
15:45
feel big and new again. And they're
15:47
doing that even though there are
15:48
familiar pieces. That's what I'm
15:50
noticing from like the beta. Like things
15:53
feel new, even if they're not
15:55
necessarily 100% brand new. Does that
15:58
make sense?
15:58
>> Oh, yeah.
15:59
>> I think so. Yeah.
16:01
>> I mean, a lot of this is old. I mean,
16:03
admittedly, a lot of this is old. where
16:06
I was going with the with the tagging,
16:08
they still have single tagging, which
16:12
having single tagging really encourages
16:14
grouping up and you find just random
16:16
people coming. You're like you're all
16:19
there for a quest to kill an elite.
16:20
Random people will invite you to a group
16:22
and you'll be grouped for a little while
16:24
and then you then you go your separate
16:26
ways. If you're if you're in a cave,
16:28
caves very dangerous. I have learned
16:30
this through my like seven deaths in
16:32
that Yeti cave. [laughter]
16:36
Uh uh yeah, it it was it was rough, but
16:39
people you get random groups and you
16:40
know with two people it's a lot more
16:42
manageable. But another mechanically
16:45
something that's done in game is that
16:47
spawns are radically sped up. Now, it
16:50
was Burning Crusade when Blizzard first
16:53
added technology that made mobs spawn
16:57
faster when more people were in the
16:59
zone, which meant you had more
17:01
opportunity to get those mobs and you
17:03
weren't waiting forever on respawns.
17:05
Now, that has been a double-edged sword
17:08
in the beta because the beta has been
17:09
tremendously popular. Um,
17:12
>> oh, yeah, let's talk about that. Let's
17:13
talk about that.
17:14
>> Things things spawn like crazy because
17:16
there are so many players. I don't know.
17:19
I don't know. There are so many players
17:21
that I can't tell you if the base spawn
17:22
rate has increased or if it's just kind
17:25
of in a hyper spawn situation because
17:28
there are so many players. But if I mean
17:31
this is one thing that could be really
17:32
miserable in vanilla and Blizzard looked
17:34
and said, "Okay, we want to keep the
17:36
community feeling where you're
17:37
encouraged to group up and make friends,
17:39
which is a big part of what you what
17:42
Classic was about, but we don't want to
17:44
make it miserable. So, we're going to
17:46
make sure there are enough spawns that
17:47
everyone can get in and finish their
17:48
quest or whatever they're doing when
17:50
there are a lot of people here. But,
17:51
you're still really encouraged to group
17:54
up and play with friends or to make new
17:56
friends.
17:57
>> Yeah, I I I want I want you guys to
18:00
talk, but like I've really I've I have
18:01
people in beta that like I group with
18:03
regularly now. Like, this is this is a
18:05
thing. But go ahead, Corey, Liz, Mitch.
18:08
>> I was just going to say making friends
18:09
is scary. I'm actually one of the I'm
18:12
one of the few that's that's saving
18:14
myself for launch because I know if I
18:16
overdo it during beta, I will lose
18:19
interest.
18:19
>> I know. I know.
18:20
>> You sense you're going to have to go
18:21
back to like level one again anyway
18:23
because you're not going to get
18:25
>> Exactly. Exactly.
18:26
>> So, actually I I was going to ask like I
18:29
know Blizzard has never really carried
18:31
stuff over, but do you think there's a
18:33
chance that uh forever is a sign that
18:35
Blizzard would eventually like carry
18:38
character progress? like maybe not what
18:39
you're the character you're starting
18:40
now, but do you think there will be a
18:42
point during beta before launch where
18:43
they're like, "Hey, characters will
18:44
progress or do you think they'll just
18:46
fully reset?"
18:47
>> Uh
18:47
>> I I think it's full reset.
18:49
>> Yeah, I think it's going to be full
18:50
reset for the the whole thing about cuz
18:52
like I I think the Go ahead, Liz.
18:55
>> If it wasn't a full reset, they would
18:56
advertise it as early as getting early
18:58
access.
18:59
>> I would agree.
19:00
>> And and they
19:02
>> there's early access to reserve names,
19:04
but there's not early access for
19:06
gameplay. It's just I it's just the
19:07
beta. So, I don't think any of this is
19:09
going to carry over. And I do kind of
19:11
wish that I was not playing the beta
19:15
because not playing the beta, you get
19:18
you get that initial experience. But I'm
19:20
here. I'm seeing what it's like. I've
19:22
got some post that I need to write. Uh
19:25
see,
19:25
>> um I I definitely understand that and I
19:28
definitely agree with that. But like for
19:30
me, from my perspective, and I get I get
19:32
where you guys are coming from. Uh it
19:34
for I never feel ruined by betas. I
19:37
don't think is really the best way to
19:38
put it. I am I am a weird like
19:41
hyperfocused dude when it comes to like
19:42
this type of stuff. When I'm in, I in
19:46
>> Yeah, I don't feel ruined. It's just I
19:49
don't like repetitive content. So, if
19:51
I've done it once, I I don't feel like I
19:55
don't feel a big need to go back. See,
19:57
but I think that's what
19:58
>> for me what I'll do a lot of times is uh
20:01
like I'll I'll play the beta kind of
20:04
early at the start so like I know I get
20:06
a feel for it. I get an idea of what the
20:08
zones and stuff look like. I might not
20:09
necessarily level, but I will, you know,
20:11
run around and see places just cuz it is
20:13
fun to explore. But like I try to give
20:15
myself enough space between beta play
20:17
and like the actual like live gameplay
20:20
that it still feels fresh. But there are
20:22
definitely times where like you can
20:23
overdo it in the beta and it's like eh I
20:25
don't need to do it right at launch.
20:27
>> See, here's my here's my beta story. The
20:30
thing that has shaped my view of betas
20:32
ever since I will never get over
20:35
wandering around Hellfire and hearing
20:37
this noise, this loud, boring noise,
20:41
very similar to like if you know I was
20:43
suddenly in Yeah. Yeah. a Mass Effect
20:46
Reaper [laughter] or something. I look
20:47
around and there's a small white box
20:50
over like, you know, not super close to
20:52
me. And I'm thinking, it's a white box.
20:55
And then I see that the white box has a
20:57
bear under it. And I'm confused. I'm
20:59
like, why is this bear wearing a box?
21:01
Whatever. I walk over to I'll take a
21:04
shot at the bear. Why not? [laughter] I
21:06
I didn't actually get kicked across the
21:09
map, but it felt like I did. It felt
21:12
like I got kicked at like a football
21:14
through the dark portal back to Azeroth
21:17
to regret my life decision. I've never
21:20
had
21:20
>> That's actually how Forever came about.
21:22
They kicked someone through the dark
21:23
portal back through their life.
21:25
[laughter]
21:26
>> And ever since then, every beta has had
21:29
some weirdness to it that I've enjoyed
21:32
that I've been in. I haven't been in all
21:33
of them because sometimes I just don't
21:34
care. Uh, but I I I remember to this day
21:38
when I went to the uh the um
21:42
beta and they completely redid the zone
21:45
while I was halfway through the
21:47
questing.
21:48
>> Yeah.
21:48
>> They just were like none of this works.
21:51
And I I I understand and I even to a
21:55
certain degree share the I don't want to
21:57
do this again aspect of it. That's one
21:59
of the reasons I didn't play classic
22:01
very much. But for betas, it doesn't
22:03
bother me as much. And here's my secret.
22:05
I don't play warriors on beta.
22:07
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. [clears throat]
22:09
>> I play I play classes that I don't
22:10
normally play in a beta.
22:12
>> I play paladins um or hunters. Uh and I
22:16
did have a shadow priest, but he just
22:18
kept dying horribly, so I stopped.
22:22
>> I I've honestly I believe that
22:24
>> I've got a tank paladin and a discipline
22:26
priest. So like, you know,
22:28
>> I I
22:29
>> two tanks. I don't [laughter] I don't
22:32
know what I'm going to play when uh when
22:34
this goes live because I thought I
22:36
thought we were going to be playing I
22:38
thought my kind of guild group was going
22:39
to be playing horde and I was like I'll
22:41
do an undead paladin then except
22:44
>> now we're doing alliance and I'm like
22:46
what am I even going to play?
22:48
>> We're going to have
22:50
elf paladin.
22:50
>> We're going to be pretty evenly split.
22:52
There's going to be people playing in
22:53
both. We're going to have a guild on
22:54
both sides. It's going to be fine. Like
22:56
I'm I'm playing horde. I know I'm
22:57
playing horde because I'm playing shaman
22:59
and I'm as much as I want to play a
23:00
dwarf shaman, I'm playing shaman. I'm
23:02
playing a sky shaman. Like I'm just
23:04
that's just going to be what happens.
23:05
[laughter]
23:07
It's like if you want to play an undead
23:09
paladin or forsaken paladin, Liz, come
23:11
along for the ride. We'll group
23:12
together. See, [laughter] I that I'm
23:14
also torn between like I love playing
23:16
Shadow Priest and I'm excited to see how
23:18
they change, but also like they're
23:20
changing a lot of classes and even
23:22
though I'm normally, you know, a one
23:24
character player, I kind of want to see
23:26
some of the like, you know, new pallet
23:28
stuff, especially Forsaken Paladin.
23:29
>> Oh, dude, the Paladin stuff is really
23:31
cool. Especially the Forsaken Paladin
23:32
stuff. Like, I'm not going to ruin
23:33
anything for you, but it's been very
23:35
enjoyable.
23:36
>> Yeah. And that's where I'm like, dang,
23:38
this game, there's a lot of small stuff
23:40
across classes that like, you know,
23:41
don't always interest me in detail that
23:43
I'm like, oh, this might be might be
23:44
fun. [clears throat]
23:45
>> One one thing that's interesting in here
23:48
is if you open the talent pane in
23:50
Forever, there's another tab that says
23:52
there's your there's primary talents,
23:54
which looks like what you would expect a
23:56
talent pane to look like from vanilla,
23:58
and then there's a tab for secondary. I
24:01
don't know what's supposed to be there
24:02
because it's locked and I can't click on
24:04
it. Oh, this is
24:06
>> and we al uh yes. So, and we also know
24:09
that there are legacy abilities which
24:12
are kind of those aren't going to be cl
24:14
like a big class impact but more it's
24:17
sort of an achievement but you'll do
24:20
you'll have accomplishments in the game
24:22
and they'll unlock different abilities
24:24
like maybe you get faster flight paths
24:27
or maybe you get you know just little
24:29
conveniences
24:31
uh and and you pick what you want. So,
24:34
it's sort of a talent system, but it's
24:37
it's not like gameplay impactful kind of
24:40
talents.
24:41
>> Interesting.
24:42
>> Uh, but yeah, what I don't know is what
24:45
is this secondary tab in the talent
24:48
tree? It's a mystery. I'm going to have
24:51
to keep leveling to figure this stuff
24:53
out. And that's another thing that's fun
24:55
is there's this is still a world of
24:57
mystery. You know, they are restricting
25:00
data mining to an extent. Yes. So,
25:03
there's a lot of that feeling of you're
25:05
going to figure this out when you figure
25:07
it out. And that's that's pretty cool.
25:10
That's pretty cool. And of course, there
25:12
are updated models. There's updated
25:15
lighting, which is really beautiful.
25:17
There is Transmog. Great. I don't know
25:20
where Transmog is, which
25:22
>> you cut out.
25:22
>> Wait a minute. You don't know where
25:24
Transmog is?
25:25
>> I don't I don't know where it is. I
25:27
don't know where it is.
25:28
>> I don't think they've turned it on.
25:29
>> They may not have added it yet. Yeah,
25:30
they may not. I don't know. I don't know
25:32
where it is. And uh also I'm completely
25:35
broke because I'm buying my class skills
25:37
like a lunatic.
25:38
>> Yeah. So like Oh god.
25:39
>> And and not only that, but like and I I
25:41
Okay, so my beta story at least from the
25:45
experience. It has been a bomb for my
25:48
old soul. Like all these people who and
25:51
I'm not saying that I'm getting like
25:52
happiness from their misery, but maybe a
25:54
little bit. Um like
25:56
>> and fruit shot and fruit and fruit. the
25:58
like the realization that they have to
26:00
buy ammo or like you know you can't just
26:03
pull eight things and AoE it down like
26:06
you can in retail. Uh you have to take
26:08
things slowly. Tanks learning how we had
26:11
to do things back in the day when they
26:13
didn't have immediate threat because you
26:15
don't have snap threat on things. Like
26:17
it's I I really enjoy that because not
26:20
because they're suffering but because
26:22
they're learning like we did. I still
26:25
I'm to this day never gotten over that I
26:27
had I got a pole arm and I had to go to
26:30
Darnasses to train pole arms. Yep.
26:33
>> Yeah. You know, I'm I'm If I want to
26:36
train If I want to learn how to use a
26:39
staff, I've got to go to Stormwind,
26:41
which isn't, you know, I'm a gnome, so
26:43
going to Stormwind isn't that bad, but I
26:45
can't even learn that in Iron Forge.
26:47
>> Yeah. You You'd think somebody else
26:49
would know how to hit people with a
26:50
stick. Nope.
26:51
>> Nope. [laughter]
26:52
>> We've completely forgotten. Just the one
26:54
guy.
26:55
>> Yeah, pretty much.
26:56
>> That's the magic of Forever.
26:58
>> Yeah.
26:59
>> One guy who can hit people with sticks
27:00
and he trains everybody.
27:01
>> There's There's a lot of magic in
27:03
Forever, I think. Like I've I've been
27:05
really enamored with it since it
27:07
released and I'm a person who was a
27:09
staunch classic hater. Like I I was
27:12
firmly in that camp. And like this is
27:14
just ticking all of my boxes for like
27:17
what it should be. And I I said this
27:19
before and and I will stand by this.
27:22
This is basically WoW 2.0, right? And
27:25
like we talked about this last week.
27:27
This is what I wanted them to do years
27:29
ago was not necessarily universal reset,
27:32
but there was just so much of the game
27:34
undone and like or or good ideas or
27:38
interesting ideas that were just left
27:39
unfinished and like WoW Forever is sort
27:43
of doing those things like I don't know.
27:47
It's been very exciting for me and like
27:48
I know some people have been complaining
27:50
like I've been watching the forums and
27:52
uh Reddit and a bunch of other social
27:54
places where people have been
27:55
complaining about WoW Forever not being
27:57
vanilla but that's kind of the point is
27:59
it's not supposed to be vanilla. Vanilla
28:01
>> that is literally the point.
28:03
>> Yeah.
28:03
>> And vanilla if you want to play vanilla
28:05
vanilla is still here. Yeah. You
28:07
>> you can get play one of the original WoW
28:09
classic servers that don't allow there's
28:11
the ones that are just classic you know
28:13
classic. There's there's classic era
28:16
which is original classic. There is
28:20
Burning Crusade, the anniversary films
28:21
for running Burning Crusade. And there's
28:23
Miss Pandaria Classic.
28:24
>> And and I think that's the point, right?
28:26
Like there's something for everybody.
28:27
You have retail with all the nicities
28:29
and everything, the modernization that
28:31
we really that we we've come to expect
28:32
at this point, which is a much faster
28:35
paced game. You have classic which is un
28:38
you have the ability to go back to
28:40
classic unchanged vanilla woow if you
28:42
really want to or you have and Matt said
28:45
this and I think this is the like one of
28:47
the best descriptions that anybody who's
28:50
made of this game is we look back on
28:54
vanilla WoW with a certain lens of our
28:57
memory right and it's that nostalgia but
29:01
it's the the way we remember the game
29:03
and you go back and you play an
29:05
unchanged classic and it doesn't match
29:06
your memory most of the time. There are
29:08
things that are wildly more complicated
29:10
or difficult or sometimes less difficult
29:12
than you anticipated. WoW Forever is
29:14
basically WoW 2.0, but like if you went
29:17
back to the beginning and then took our
29:20
like memory of what vanilla WoW was and
29:23
made it into a game. So, they have three
29:26
very distinct offerings which is really
29:28
really neat. Right. Sorry. Go ahead.
29:30
>> The the whole memory of it. Yeah. That's
29:32
really the big selling point in cuz
29:33
Yeah. I I remember original WoW. I
29:35
remember playing it and being super
29:37
cool, but this is the uh this is just it
29:40
it nailed it. I I see all the people
29:42
playing. I see everything there. I'm
29:44
like, this this feels like what it was
29:46
20 years ago when it first came out.
29:49
>> I I was one of those people in uh like
29:52
vanilla WoW who would go into Hyjol even
29:55
though it was an empty zone.
29:57
>> Oh, We are kindred spirits. We
29:59
are kindred spirits. I spent so much of
30:02
my time in vanilla wall walking that
30:04
when I saw that they're like, "Hey, this
30:06
this zone in between Unoro and you know,
30:08
whatever. What's there? Something's
30:10
there now." I was like, "Oh my gosh,
30:13
it's not just flat." I I spun up I spun
30:17
up I spun up my old hard drive to look
30:19
at the screenshots that I was able to
30:20
take from back then before I got put
30:22
into GM baby jail. And
30:24
>> did you keep getting stuck at that that
30:26
like like um street, you know, don't go
30:29
beyond this marker.
30:30
>> Oh, yeah.
30:31
>> Thing they had. My my wife told like our
30:34
entire guild she took them all walking.
30:36
There were like 40 people. She got them
30:38
all into Hyel.
30:40
>> Yeah.
30:40
>> Like by like literally wall.
30:42
>> I love it.
30:43
>> And then of course there are 40 people
30:45
there. So we ride down to the big head
30:47
that's coming out of the ground. The big
30:49
skull cave that was supposed to be
30:51
something Deathwingish. And we all just
30:53
>> Oh, yeah. It had Deathwind's Cave. Y
30:55
>> Yeah. And then we just appeared uh on GM
30:58
Island and we're told, you know, you
30:59
have a timeout.
31:00
>> Yeah.
31:01
>> Uh I never got put on GM island, but
31:03
yeah, I never play 39 other people.
31:05
>> I did. That's how I got That's how I got
31:07
to make friends with a bunch of GMs
31:08
because I literally spent a whole lot of
31:10
time talking with them because they were
31:11
keeping me on my island. Like,
31:13
>> man, I'm a little disappointed no GM
31:15
ever was like, "Hey, Mitch, what are you
31:17
doing here?" You know, just be me.
31:19
>> [laughter]
31:19
>> Well, it also didn't help that some of
31:20
those GMs were also formerly of City of
31:23
Heroes and uh may or may not have
31:25
remembered me for when I caused problems
31:27
there, too. Uh so, you know, a thing.
31:30
But,
31:31
>> but yes, I'm I'm so excited for that is
31:33
one of many reasons I'm excited is
31:35
because it's actually filling out the
31:36
zones that I spent so much time while
31:39
walking and trying to explore. And and I
31:41
like the idea of visiting these places
31:43
that we knew were talked about or like
31:47
mentioned in quests. Like Arcatraz is
31:49
the one that I'm going to bring up the
31:51
most probably for this is like the
31:52
poster child for it. We literally had
31:54
quests that send us to the island to go
31:57
and investigate, you know, a missing
31:59
dignitary depending on what side of
32:01
faction you're in. And then the quest
32:03
sends you right back and you're done.
32:05
And there's a whole island with a bunch
32:06
of elites that you cannot kill. and you
32:08
got try to go anywhere on that island,
32:10
you are just toast, buddy. Um, but now
32:13
it's literally an instance. It is the
32:15
thing that it was supposed to be
32:16
originally.
32:17
>> Oh. Oh, that's awesome. I didn't know
32:19
that.
32:19
>> Right. So, but they're doing stuff like
32:21
that or like and I brought this up and
32:22
and and since Mitch and and Cory and Liz
32:24
are here, I brought this up last time
32:26
where like if you go back to your uh
32:30
your vanilla WoW collector's edition art
32:33
book, like literally thumb through it,
32:35
like just take a look through and look
32:37
at all the stuff that never got put into
32:39
the game or stuff that got like taken
32:41
out last minute or would just never made
32:42
it off the page as a concept. And Wild
32:44
Forever is basically just doing that.
32:46
They're saying, "These were really cool
32:48
ideas that never got to be explored.
32:49
Let's do it. Oh, this quest line ended
32:51
too early. Let's just go do it. Uh, sky
32:53
elves have been a concept that have been
32:55
around since as an offshoot of high
32:57
elves since before WoW ever existed,
33:00
right? Like, and people are like, "Oh,
33:02
these are brand new." And it's like,
33:03
they are, but it started from a seed of
33:05
an idea from like Warcraft 2 era. Like,
33:08
>> so I I'm kind of curious how you feel
33:10
then. Do you think uh we'll get a
33:12
version of Emerald Dream in Forever
33:15
since that was like there was almost a
33:17
whole zone in those in the original
33:19
files or it already?
33:21
>> Yeah, I
33:22
>> Yeah, but we've gotten that already in
33:24
live. So, is that something?
33:25
>> But we didn't. That's the thing. In
33:26
live, we got the Emerald Nightmare and a
33:29
portion of the Emerald Dream. We never
33:31
got the original concept of the Emerald
33:32
Dream, which was supposed to be an
33:34
entire sprawling zone complete with a
33:36
raid and dungeon. So, like it's what we
33:39
got in in live was an homage to it. I
33:44
I would be very excited. I'm not going
33:46
to say that I think it's likely, but I
33:48
would be very excited if they would
33:49
announce that as a future content update
33:51
where it's like, oh, by the way, uh you
33:55
know, oh, you're doing the quest line
33:56
where Fandrol is discovered is keeping
33:58
the all the druids asleep with the the
34:01
moral grain. Uh enjoy. Sorry if I'm
34:03
spoiling a 20 plus year uh plot
34:06
[laughter] point for you guys. Um but
34:08
like
34:08
>> what?
34:09
>> By the way, you need to go into the
34:10
Emerald Dream and and try to smack them
34:12
awake or you know break them out of that
34:14
if you can. And like you are the
34:16
adventuring party, the the mer band of
34:19
mercenaries that goes in there before
34:21
the saviors of Azeroth do it. Like
34:23
that's the other thing too and I will
34:25
and this is another thing that I will
34:26
probably never shut up about with WoW
34:28
forever is early days of WoW and and
34:31
Matt I and and Eric talked about this on
34:33
lore watch. You were not a worldsaving
34:36
hero. You were an adventurer from your
34:39
home city or town and at most you were a
34:42
mercenary and you joined with a band of
34:45
mercenaries to go and accomplish certain
34:48
tasks. Raids were smaller. They were not
34:50
40man endeavors. not until we got to
34:52
Molten Core. Um, before that they were
34:54
10 and 15 man. 15 man being like the top
34:57
end and borderline unmanageable and
35:00
>> and if you had a say up for Black Rock
35:02
Spire, suddenly everybody liked you.
35:04
>> Yeah, but I mean but it was it was
35:06
smaller stories collectively. Even the
35:09
like big name bosses, even when we got
35:12
to like Ragnaros and Keelazot, they
35:15
weren't worldending threats. They were
35:17
zoneending threats. And though there's a
35:21
wildly different pace to that and
35:23
positioning for it. So this is a much
35:25
smaller game with much and and I'm not
35:28
saying like it's size-wise smaller. It's
35:30
a much more focused game and less about
35:33
you know you're just a cog in the story
35:35
of Azeroth. This is your story as you
35:38
explore Azeroth and that makes it feel
35:40
special at least to me.
35:42
>> Well said.
35:43
>> Um I'm going to say at this point uh we
35:45
have been going on about this for like
35:47
>> forever. LET'S DO IT. LET'S DO IT.
35:50
NO, I AM GOING TO SAY I WANT to talk
35:53
about Diablo because we have Liz P and
35:55
myself and we like Diablo. So, we're
35:58
gonna get to talk for a few minutes and
35:59
then we if you guys want to talk more
36:00
about Wow Forever, you can come back in.
36:02
Liz, I hear you. Other Liz.
36:04
>> I I would really like to talk a little
36:06
about professions because I think that's
36:08
one of the
36:09
>> Yeah. Before we move on, we need to
36:10
Yeah.
36:11
>> Yeah. All right. Um,
36:12
>> go ahead, Liz.
36:13
>> Professions. Professions and forever.
36:16
You'll see some of the familiar vanilla
36:18
recipes, but there are also some new
36:20
recipes. You'll see kind of a mix mash.
36:23
Uh, a lot of g a lot of the power level
36:27
feels like it's shifted into gear. So,
36:30
you'll see that tailor even at low level
36:33
are making things with like spell power
36:35
or the equivalent of spell power. Um,
36:39
you know, I'm I'm level 10 and I made
36:41
myself things that are increases damage
36:44
and healing done by magical spells by up
36:46
to one, which is not much, but you know,
36:48
when you're level 10, that's pretty big.
36:51
>> When your stats are 10, 12, and 13,
36:54
that's a lot.
36:55
>> Yeah, that's a ton. So, it feels like
36:58
some of the And it feels like that also
37:00
makes profession gear more powerful in
37:04
kind of this setting. So, some of your
37:06
power feels like it's shifted into gear.
37:08
And your gearing is maybe as important
37:12
or maybe more important than your level,
37:15
which is a different kind of philosophy
37:16
they're using in Forever where
37:18
ostensibly you're going to get to level
37:20
60 and you're not going to progress in
37:22
level anymore, but there will still be
37:25
some kind of progression system you'll
37:27
be working on. Another big difference is
37:30
that uh making healing potions is part
37:32
of first aid. It's not an alchemy. It's
37:35
in first aid
37:36
>> accessible to everyone because you need
37:38
them.
37:38
>> Yes. So So yes, healing potions are much
37:42
better than bandages. I mean, bandages
37:44
are great for between combat, but when
37:46
you're in combat, getting a healing
37:48
potion to give you that extra boost is
37:51
really powerful. And now anyone can make
37:53
them. you do still need herbs to make
37:55
them. So, it kind of has a synergy with
37:57
herbalism, but um and then the other
38:01
thing is that every profession has
38:03
something for campfires. Campfires is a
38:06
completely new mechanic to WoW Forever
38:08
that you can be out in the world and you
38:11
make your campfire. That's your basic
38:13
campfire. Your basic campfire is more
38:15
powerful than it ever has been before in
38:18
that you make a basic campfire and now
38:20
you set up a camp. your camp you can set
38:24
up different things at your camp that uh
38:27
and different people can go in and set
38:29
set up different things in your camp and
38:31
that provides you different kinds of
38:33
buffs. So you're going to make make your
38:36
campfire set up different items in your
38:39
camp. You rest at your camp. you sit
38:42
around the campfire and then you have
38:44
all of these buffs and you can go out in
38:46
the world and I don't know en enjoy your
38:50
buffs because everyone loves buffs. So
38:53
here is the list I have compiled and I
38:55
think at higher levels you're going to
38:57
get better versions of these things and
38:59
better versions of the campfire which
39:01
will let you put more things in your
39:03
camp at once. So skinning you make a
39:07
camp chair which gives you plus two crit
39:09
chance. leather working. You get a camp
39:12
tent which increases rested XP to 5% of
39:16
a level. I don't entirely understand
39:18
what that's going to do, but it's there.
39:20
Uh, mining, you get a load stone, which
39:22
gives plus 12 melee attack power.
39:25
Blacksmithing, you get a sharpening
39:27
wheel that gives you plus six strength.
39:29
Tailoring, you get a faction banner that
39:31
gives you plus 14 spirit. Everyone loves
39:34
spirit. That's the best stat in the
39:35
game. Secretly the best stat in the
39:37
game. Uh, enchanting. You get an
39:40
enchanted loot that gives you plus 28
39:42
armor. Herbalism, you get an incense
39:45
candle, plus two intellect alchemy. You
39:47
get a mana well that gives you plus 10
39:50
mana per 5 seconds. Engineering, you get
39:53
a reagent bot from which you can
39:55
purchase reagents. Very important back
39:58
in the day. Fishing, you can make a
40:00
fishbowl that gives you plus 8% to all
40:04
stats. first aid. You get a first aid a
40:07
first aid kit which gives you plus three
40:08
stamina. Now, these are all available in
40:12
all professions at skill level 20. So,
40:14
it's not it's not this is not a high-end
40:17
thing. And while I have not discovered
40:19
all of the recipes for everything, I do
40:21
assume you're going to get better
40:22
versions of these as you level up. Now,
40:26
all of these, if these overlap with
40:29
another buff, they're exclusive. So like
40:31
the first aid kit which gives you plus
40:33
stamina, you can't stack that with power
40:35
word for
40:36
>> vanilla rules apply.
40:38
>> Yeah. So they're all like that. But you
40:41
know, even if you don't have a priest in
40:42
your group, fire up a campfire, put out
40:44
a first aid kit, and you can still get
40:47
that stamina buff. So I think this is a
40:50
really cool way to use professions,
40:52
encourage profession use, and also kind
40:55
of have this social element when you're
40:56
going, "Okay, we're going into a
40:58
dungeon. We're going to set up a
41:00
campfire. Who who has blacksmithing?
41:03
>> Even even beyond that,
41:04
>> you know,
41:05
>> even even beyond that, even beyond
41:06
dungeons, like it's just in the world.
41:08
You find a quiet place where mobs
41:10
necessarily aren't spawning very much or
41:12
at all. You throw down a campfire
41:14
outside of a major city or, you know, in
41:17
between two points where people would
41:19
normally retreat to sell their stuff or
41:20
like recuperate. And now you have the
41:23
like I said this last week and I'll
41:25
probably say it 8,000 more times. It's
41:27
the best thing WoW has ever stolen from
41:29
EverQuest. Like it is it's this idea
41:32
that you can just be a stopping point
41:34
for people. And it's another way to make
41:37
friends in a game that is dangerous and
41:40
rewards you for having friends to go do
41:42
stuff with. LIKE IT'S GREAT. IT'S
41:44
FANTASTIC.
41:45
>> SOME of us introverts.
41:46
>> Yeah. And you can also just set up a
41:48
camp and just sit there. Just sit there
41:50
and chill out by yourself if that's what
41:52
you want to do.
41:52
>> Sit there and look intimidating so no
41:54
one sits down at your camp.
41:56
>> No, no normal necromancers in this game,
41:58
buddy.
41:59
>> I don't know why I've tried really hard
42:00
to be unpleasant and yet every time
42:02
people are like, "Oh, it was so good to
42:03
see you." I'm like, "Why? What did I
42:05
do?"
42:05
>> It's like It's like cats because you're
42:06
not maintaining eye contact.
42:08
>> Yeah. [laughter]
42:09
Anyway, I am going to force this train
42:11
over to Diablo because I think Liz and I
42:13
have similar feelings about Diablo 5
42:16
announcement. And I'm going to start
42:17
with you, Liz. What? What are those
42:19
feelings?
42:20
>> Oh,
42:22
>> I don't know how how how I I am on the
42:26
fence. On the one hand, we just came off
42:29
of the best high of a of an expansion.
42:33
And I really thought that meant, you
42:36
know,
42:37
[laughter] and I was on Loader's couch,
42:40
Joe's couch for for the uh the
42:44
announcement, and I I I barely held in
42:47
my shriek of what?
42:50
>> So, I learned that there are other Liz
42:52
noises that exist from other Lizes at
42:54
that moment. [laughter]
42:56
>> There were there were there were many
42:58
noises. Um, [laughter]
43:00
I'm not going to say the things that I
43:02
said because I don't want to get yelled
43:03
at. Um, I I'm on the one hand
43:08
disappointed and on the other hand,
43:11
could this mean that we're going to get
43:13
a game again that I don't have to see
43:17
all in Sundry in the open world because
43:20
I'll be in a procedurally generated
43:22
world again with my own little caravan
43:25
and my own little treasure goblin buddy
43:28
and my own little angelic buddy and
43:30
because that's the kind of Diablo that I
43:33
I started loving. thing, you know,
43:35
>> I mean, I feel like the thing I've
43:37
wanted most back from Diablo II more
43:39
than anything else is the ability to
43:40
just log on and, you know, invite like
43:43
one person to play with me if they want
43:45
to and that's it. Um, the the the
43:49
persistent openw world thing that they
43:51
were doing. [clears throat] I mean, I I
43:54
I just I wasn't looking to play an MMO
43:57
when I booted this.
43:58
>> So, yeah, I I hear you on that. But on
44:01
the flip side, the the I'll call it a
44:04
pseudoarmmo because they have maintained
44:07
that Diablo I isn't an MMO. Um it's an
44:11
MMO.
44:12
>> Whatever they say, it's an MMO.
44:14
>> It's an MMO. But the MMO that we have,
44:17
it's given us some really good nostalgia
44:19
this season.
44:20
>> Oh, it's so good.
44:22
>> It's so good. I know Corey's played
44:24
because we've talked about it. Matt,
44:26
have you been playing since last
44:28
Tuesday? I have not. Uh, but I was going
44:31
to today and then things got ahead of
44:33
me. I've I've just got it patched.
44:36
>> It's all good. Get in there. Get
44:38
playing. You're going Oh, I can't wait
44:41
for you to see the see the requery
44:45
cosmetic if you like those. Um, because
44:49
you're going to have such a nostalgia
44:52
bomb hit you. Um, and is it is a week
44:56
and a half a week when we're recording a
44:59
week and a half when we release. Is that
45:02
two is that not long enough for
45:04
spoilers?
45:05
>> There's no It's Diablo. You're going to
45:06
play through the story in a second.
45:08
You're not even going to spoil the best
45:09
part, which is of who returns right
45:11
away. And that his name is Decard Kane.
45:13
>> I already spoiled that in the post.
45:15
[laughter]
45:15
>> I mean, they spoiled it with their ad. I
45:17
mean, they should have
45:18
>> Blizzard announced it.
45:19
>> Blizzard probably announced it. That's
45:21
>> Here's the worst part of that. Uh they
45:24
they copied the worst line from a
45:25
blockbuster movie in history in the in
45:28
the somehow I returned. Oh, I don't know
45:30
how it happened.
45:32
>> It it was it some of his lines are a
45:34
little weird. It's still Deckard Kane,
45:36
so I still had feelings. But um the
45:40
various iterations of the prime evils
45:44
that you There's Let's see if I can do
45:47
this right without blowing out my mic.
45:49
There's B. There's mufisto and there's
45:55
misto.
45:56
>> Let's go.
45:57
>> Also, how he says different things that
45:59
you fight.
46:01
>> No. No. The worst thing he says though
46:03
is hearing Decker Kane say Diablo.
46:05
>> Diablo.
46:06
>> Diablo. Well, he
46:08
>> Diablo has returned.
46:10
>> He says Aiden because you're following
46:13
the wanderers, not not necessarily just
46:17
the echoes of the primevalss. So he says
46:20
Aiden. He says Tal Talasha. He says the
46:24
name that I'm not going to say from
46:26
Diablo I because I never mastered that
46:29
one that Meisto takes over. Sankashar.
46:34
I Golly I'm bad at it.
46:36
>> Yeah. No, I I can see it in my head, but
46:38
I've never
46:39
>> I thought it I thought it was Sanker. I
46:41
thought it
46:42
>> might be Sakurer.
46:43
>> It might be. Yeah. [laughter]
46:46
>> We're professionals here, guys.
46:48
>> We're professionals. Um Oh my god. It's
46:51
it's a nostalgia bomb. It's it's brought
46:53
me so much joy so far. I'm gonna be
46:56
writing about that. Uh so that Liz
46:59
doesn't hunt me down because she knows
47:00
where I live. Um cuz it's just it's just
47:03
been it's been such a And the
47:06
frustrating part is if we could do this
47:09
then then why for not more exp.
47:13
>> Yeah, I know. That's the thing. It's
47:14
like I don't want to sound ungrateful,
47:16
but [laughter] knowing that this game is
47:18
just basically going to be seasonal
47:19
content for 2 years uh doesn't fill me
47:23
with joy.
47:24
>> If it's seasonal content like this,
47:26
>> great.
47:27
>> This is good seasonal content, but come
47:28
on. Like
47:29
>> we haven't had many of these.
47:31
>> Look how good the best season they've
47:33
done.
47:34
>> Yeah, I would I would argue that as
47:36
well, Corey. Um I think Corey and I both
47:38
have level 70s now.
47:40
>> Yep.
47:41
>> And I I have I have two now, actually. I
47:44
leveled up a spirit born over the
47:46
weekend. Uh leveling leveling is
47:50
it it's cake. It's cake. Let's And and
47:53
the cake is real. It's not a lie.
47:55
>> Oh, leveling.
47:56
>> That's what Cory's been doing instead of
47:57
playing Heroes of the Storm, though. Is
47:59
that
47:59
>> Yeah, he's been playing Diablo. I
48:04
>> I've played I played a bunch on the on
48:05
the PTR because I had to try out my girl
48:08
Zealot and uh but then Diablo was there
48:11
too and I can play that on my coat. that
48:13
part.
48:13
>> Yeah, there is that the console ability
48:16
and the fact that Diablo 4 is made for
48:18
consoles so that you don't feel like,
48:19
oh, the the UI is so confusing and
48:22
different. It's exactly the same. So, I
48:24
can hop from my computer to
48:26
>> Yeah.
48:26
>> playing on a console and
48:28
>> and now that it's on um Switch 2 and the
48:31
port to Switch 2 is apparently
48:32
performing really well. Um people have
48:36
been delighted with that, too.
48:39
>> Yeah, I would love I would love to be
48:40
able to play it with my wife. So, the
48:42
fact that it's she plays primarily on
48:44
the Switch now, so that would be a cool
48:46
thing. Just have to get her Switch, too.
48:48
Um, but I I will say this though, as
48:50
good as the season might be, cuz I
48:52
haven't seen it yet, but I take your
48:53
word for it. Um, I still feel like
48:56
seasonal development for Diablo I has
48:59
always been hit or miss
49:01
>> with a lot more misses than hits. Um,
49:04
and even then you would what what Corey
49:06
said about the story for this season
49:08
would just he just set out nothing, you
49:11
know, there's nothing here is going to
49:12
shock anybody. That's my problem with it
49:14
cuz I just got through an expansion
49:16
which had all sorts of cool story stuff
49:18
in it and not even just the main quest
49:20
of it, just all sorts of weird stuff
49:22
around Sco that you could find and it
49:25
just it's like hinting at the future.
49:26
And now we're getting they announced
49:30
>> the future is here and everyone's dead.
49:32
Yeah, I I am hoping that when we
49:35
actually see Sanctuary in Diablo 5 that
49:39
it's going to be West March and the
49:41
areas around it, like say
49:43
>> it is. It is.
49:44
>> Well, no. I'm hoping they're the dead
49:46
part and that the rest of the world
49:48
still exists in some fashion. I don't
49:50
want to play in a game where everything
49:52
is already destroyed and Diablo rules
49:54
everything. For one thing, how did he
49:56
pull it off this time? We've been
49:57
slapping him around for five games.
49:59
You're telling me he this time? The
50:01
other thing is
50:02
>> he showed up when we weren't there.
50:04
That's all he had to do is just show up
50:05
when we weren't there. Duh.
50:06
>> Yeah. He had to get there.
50:07
>> The other thing is this is a hundred
50:09
years in the future. So this is this is
50:12
pretty far out and stuff has happened
50:14
and we haven't been there.
50:15
>> And somehow Decker Kane is still
50:16
intermediary time.
50:18
[laughter]
50:19
>> He keeps returning. We we try to stop
50:21
him but he just keeps coming back.
50:22
>> But it turns out I'm Diablo. [laughter]
50:26
>> Oh no. [gasps] Um, you [clears throat]
50:28
actually you actually made a good point
50:30
because about seasons being hit or miss
50:32
and not really being much to them
50:34
because we are seeing something for the
50:36
first time in this season and that's the
50:40
story continuing from the previous
50:42
season.
50:43
>> Yeah, the Reaper deal. And that is the
50:45
>> Reaper deal. Forward.
50:47
>> I'm like that they're carrying it
50:48
forward. I like that they're making it
50:50
have consequence that the these weird
50:52
angels that worship death appeared. I'm
50:55
actually finding myself wondering if in
50:56
the next season after we're going to
50:58
finally really get Mouthy up.
50:59
>> We might. We absolutely might.
51:02
>> Maybe that's what kicks off, you know,
51:03
Sanctuary gets so messed up that Diablo
51:05
can take over within the next hundred
51:07
years.
51:08
>> Yeah.
51:08
>> Uh I don't know. But I am still I'm
51:11
still on the fence about a few things
51:13
like the fact that we're we're getting a
51:15
a we went we we kind of already had the
51:17
post-apocalyptic Diablo with Diablo I
51:21
cuz you know nine ten of humanity got
51:23
wiped out and everybody's you know it's
51:25
everything is [laughter] marble
51:26
everywhere and now we're going to just
51:27
straight up the primevals have won and I
51:30
don't know I don't know I don't know why
51:32
I'm not enthusiastic about it but I'm
51:35
not I'm willing to be convinced but I I
51:37
need to see
51:38
I think it's a really interesting idea.
51:40
>> Yeah, Liz.
51:41
>> Sorry, Liz.
51:42
>> You're not enthusiastic about it because
51:44
it's hard to be enthusiastic about, hey,
51:46
we've been defending the world of
51:47
Sanctuary for 30 years of our real
51:49
lives. Of our real lives. 30 years. And
51:54
now, no matter what you have done in the
51:55
past, it's all gone. That just
51:58
>> Did you like that sense of victory?
51:59
Well, it Happy birthday to the ground
52:01
for it.
52:02
>> Too bad. [laughter]
52:03
Um, I Okay, I've I've warmed to the idea
52:07
of Diablo 5 since it was announced. I
52:10
was also very disappointed to hear about
52:14
Diablo 5 and the fact that they're
52:17
destroying the world. Neither of those
52:19
really did it for me. I have warmed a
52:22
little bit since then because I can see
52:25
the interesting story possibilities in
52:28
really flipping things upside down, you
52:31
know, not just making another Diablo
52:33
game where okay, here's your Tristram,
52:35
here's your here's your next city and
52:38
your next city and your fourax or
52:39
whatever and just really saying, okay,
52:42
this is a different kind of game. This
52:44
is a different kind of world.
52:46
>> I can see
52:48
>> I can see interesting narrative
52:49
possibilities there. and we'll see how
52:51
it goes.
52:52
>> Yeah. My my only two concerns,
52:54
and I understand what you're saying
52:56
there, is like what makes it not a demon
53:01
Fallout game at that point, right? Cuz
53:03
like
53:03
>> it I feel like this last one is already
53:05
a demon Fallout game.
53:07
>> This one is actually like if they made a
53:09
Fallout game like the day after the
53:12
bombs dropped.
53:13
>> Yeah.
53:13
>> That would be, you know, a hundred
53:14
years, you know. I don't know. And and
53:16
the and the other thing, sorry, the
53:18
other thing too is like we've always
53:19
spent every game we've played in Diablo
53:22
on the back foot. Every story is the
53:25
player character on the back foot
53:26
chasing after the primes, but you're
53:28
still like they're one up on you all the
53:31
way to the end.
53:32
>> And like you're just starting from a
53:34
like a with a larger mountain in front
53:36
of you and it's like it's not different
53:39
enough for me yet. I'm willing to to see
53:41
what happens, but like it's again like
53:44
it's it's just it's oh this thing that
53:47
we've been doing, we're just gonna crank
53:49
it to 11 doesn't always work for me.
53:51
>> You know what it you know what you just
53:53
reminded me of that makes me think of
53:55
this announcement though is the there's
53:58
a line in the movie The Incredibles
54:01
where the bad guy is saying it's bigger,
54:03
it's better. And that's what I feel
54:07
like. Like they went, we have to make it
54:10
too much for the player base.
54:12
>> Yeah. I don't need I don't need Kaiju
54:14
Diablo. [laughter] That's the other
54:16
thing. I just I literally just thought
54:17
of this as Liz and then other Liz and
54:20
then Joe and then the Liz again. Uh as
54:22
you guys were all talking, I keep coming
54:24
up to the idea of like what does a world
54:26
with hundred years of Diablo being in
54:28
charge look like?
54:30
>> Well, he's not in charge for 100 years.
54:31
Okay.
54:32
>> Yeah. But you know what I'm saying. What
54:34
does that world look like? Do you go to
54:36
like Tristram and instead of it being
54:38
Tristram, it's like this big memorial to
54:41
this is where Diablo finally came
54:43
through back from the soul stone. Like
54:45
what do they do with the world? Are
54:47
there enough? Are there like any humans
54:50
left? Are there a lot of humans?
54:51
>> There barely. There are barely any
54:53
humans left.
54:54
>> There are no cities.
54:56
>> There are no cities left.
54:57
>> But there's demons. What are the demons
54:59
doing? I I I find it fascinating to
55:01
think about what we're gonna be getting.
55:04
Um, in a weird sort of way, I'm hoping
55:06
it'll be more like the dark sun of the
55:09
Diablo franchise than the fallout of the
55:12
Diablo franchise.
55:13
>> I don't know. I just because I want I
55:16
want there to be a chance like you said
55:18
before, what if we're not on the back
55:21
foot this time because the back footing
55:23
has already gone as back as that foot's
55:25
going to go and now we're going to bring
55:27
forward and it'll be an active we're
55:30
going to be the monsters here compared,
55:32
you know, to as far as the demons are
55:34
concerned, we're the nightmares. We're,
55:36
you know, the the doom. We don't have to
55:38
have the doom.
55:38
>> We're Fred Savage in the monster town
55:40
that's under the bed. I get I I get what
55:41
you're saying. [laughter]
55:43
I I'm just interested in seeing
55:44
something that allows me to feel like
55:46
I've accomplished something
55:48
>> at the end of it because right now I'm
55:51
not getting that sense. And so I'm
55:53
hoping the play experience can get that.
55:56
>> So one thing we know, the one thing we
55:58
do absolutely know about the timeline is
56:00
that so it's set 100 years years in the
56:03
future and Diablo has been in charge for
56:05
seven years. We know there are no cities
56:07
that most of humanity has been wiped out
56:10
and you'll be traveling in a caravan.
56:13
So, and that's and you're always
56:15
traveling because there's nowhere to
56:16
there's
56:17
>> there's no nice places.
56:19
>> Calling it now. The story hook is that
56:21
we caused this imbalance because we
56:23
shunted Mefisto.
56:25
>> I I think that's already been said
56:26
somewhere.
56:28
>> Has it?
56:29
>> I don't think I don't think it's
56:30
>> Maybe I'm thinking of you saying it.
56:32
>> It [laughter]
56:32
be speculation, but yeah. So we there no
56:36
no cities, no settlements. You're
56:38
traveling around in a caravan and as you
56:39
travel you're building your caravan and
56:42
you're adding people to your caravan.
56:44
You're adding so you're adding vendors,
56:47
you're adding characters, you're adding
56:48
people who might give you side quest.
56:50
>> Covetous Shen isn't there. I'm going to
56:52
be so mad.
56:55
>> Treasure goblin. Yes, there isn't a
56:58
there is a treasure goblin who's trying
57:00
to figure out what he's here for in a
57:02
world that's kind of host treasure
57:04
goblin. It's like where you don't just
57:07
where's the treasure to collect? What's
57:09
the reason to collect it? So, I think
57:12
the idea of a Diablo that has personal
57:15
stories, I think that could be really
57:17
interesting because there was in the
57:20
little they told us about Diablo, there
57:21
was a definite focus on the caravan and
57:24
on building the caravan and on
57:25
collecting characters, which I think
57:29
that could be really good storytelling
57:31
spec particularly because Blizzard's
57:34
best storytelling is very frequently in
57:37
smaller scale stories and not in big
57:40
world world overarching events and
57:44
Diablo for the last expansion was
57:48
amazing. That was great story. But I
57:50
think a lot of Blizzard stories that are
57:52
the best are the small scale stories and
57:54
this caravan format could present some
57:57
of those
57:58
>> with caravan with caravan leader
58:00
>> caravan leader Greston Parvey.
58:02
[laughter]
58:03
What I'm wondering is if I'm going to
58:04
get to see like extremely old and grumpy
58:06
Tyel.
58:08
>> Like I mean I kind of want to
58:11
>> I mean if he's alive by then, right?
58:13
Like cuz like this is 100 years.
58:15
>> Just because he's mortal doesn't mean he
58:17
has to die when we die.
58:19
>> Yeah. We don't know.
58:20
>> True. But he's looking pretty haggarded
58:21
when we see him in four.
58:23
>> Yeah. He's looking haggarded, but he
58:24
hasn't like he's still able to do stuff.
58:27
>> I mean, he's not necessarily a silver
58:28
fox. He's more like a silver donkey at
58:29
that point. Just [laughter]
58:32
>> Oh my gosh.
58:34
>> Wow.
58:35
>> That was mean.
58:38
>> You were mean to Tyel. Anyway,
58:40
>> Laur was a silver possum
58:43
possome. [laughter]
58:44
>> Do not do not be mean to my boy Tyel.
58:47
I'm just saying.
58:48
>> Also, Lorath Lorath could come back now
58:51
cuz we know in Diablo I there's like a a
58:53
revolving door of the dead showing up.
58:56
Maybe Lorath shows up. He's like, "No,
58:58
yeah, I'm dead, but you know, I'm not
58:59
going to stop fighting." But, you know,
59:01
I I I'm hopeful for it. I just feel a
59:04
little I'm waiting to see if they if
59:06
they bring up anything else that gives
59:08
me an idea of what my characters are
59:10
doing besides riding around in a caravan
59:12
and picking up characters
59:14
>> survival.
59:15
>> Yeah. I It's kind of like when Metal
59:17
Gear Survive came out and I I didn't
59:19
know what that game was going to be and
59:20
I thought it was going to be a Metal
59:21
Gear game.
59:22
>> Well, I mean, spoilers, they didn't know
59:23
either when they put the game out. They
59:25
had no idea what they were putting out.
59:27
I know. But anyway, yeah, I I I I do
59:30
like Diablo enough, Diablo 4 enough that
59:32
I am kind of I'm more surprised than
59:35
upset. I'm just like, you're letting it
59:36
go already.
59:37
>> Yeah. Really?
59:38
>> Yeah. You just you just got the game to
59:40
a great place and you're you're just
59:43
dropping it.
59:44
>> We just got here and we're already
59:45
getting back on the road.
59:47
>> At least we're getting the end.
59:48
>> I for one saw this coming.
59:51
>> To be fair to be fair, Mitch Mitch did
59:53
call this. Yeah.
59:54
>> Yeah. Crazy.
59:57
>> But um I guess at this point, is there
59:59
anything else anybody wants to talk
1:00:01
about before we move on? Because it's
1:00:02
almost time to get Liz Harbor to tell
1:00:05
everyone about us.
1:00:06
>> Uh just that the Diablo II is the the
1:00:09
little Diablo engine that could because
1:00:11
season 40 is uh starting in a week and a
1:00:17
half.
1:00:18
>> Yeah, it's Yeah, I think
1:00:19
>> or two weeks.
1:00:20
>> I think definitely a week and a half.
1:00:23
I'm actually looking forward to season
1:00:24
40 because it's it's one of the
1:00:26
>> starting starting on October 2nd to
1:00:29
bring a little specificity here.
1:00:31
>> Yeah, Lights Calling is good. So, I'm
1:00:32
I'm excited for that. I I don't know how
1:00:35
I'm going to have time to play two
1:00:38
Diablo when I'm already tied up in one
1:00:40
Diablo.
1:00:41
>> Yeah, it's not easy. It is.
1:00:43
>> Yeah. How am I supposed to be playing
1:00:44
two Warcrafts over here? But but yet
1:00:47
>> those numbers need to go up. There's at
1:00:48
least three Warcrafts you could be
1:00:50
playing. At least three Diablos you
1:00:51
could be playing. I mean,
1:00:54
>> characters in Heroes of the Storm. Just
1:00:56
come on. Rookie numbers there.
1:00:57
>> At some point, we're [laughter] going to
1:00:58
be in a place where people are going to
1:00:59
be saying, "Well, I I'm really big on
1:01:01
Diablo I Resurrected, but I'm also I've
1:01:04
been playing Diablo II because it's the
1:01:06
it's the season 62, right? And of
1:01:08
course, I'm Diablo 4. I've been I've
1:01:10
been keeping up on that because I paid
1:01:12
for all those cosmetics. I don't want to
1:01:13
let him go." And yet, of course, I'm
1:01:15
going to make Diablo 5 character. It's
1:01:16
like, seriously, then then Diablo
1:01:18
Immortal. Are you playing Diablo
1:01:19
Immortal? No, I'm not. I can't. It's not
1:01:22
humanly possible.
1:01:23
>> I don't have a phone anymore. I just
1:01:25
have a chip in my head.
1:01:27
>> Yeah.
1:01:27
>> So, you're always playing Diablo
1:01:28
Immortal then. You're just constantly
1:01:30
rolling it like a subway service that
1:01:33
reality. You're just wandering around in
1:01:36
and inside Sanctuary at the same time,
1:01:38
which not a great move.
1:01:40
>> There's worse places you could wind up,
1:01:41
but not many.
1:01:44
[laughter]
1:01:46
>> You could end up anything in Warhammer.
1:01:48
>> Oh, yeah. Warhammer 40k. Oh god. Yeah, I
1:01:51
guess you could be one of those Marines
1:01:52
in the new Starcraft in four years.
1:01:55
[laughter]
1:01:56
>> That's I They shouldn't have dropped
1:01:57
their barracks so close to the the Zerg
1:01:59
base.
1:02:00
>> Yeah, that's true.
1:02:01
>> At some point, they're just going to do
1:02:02
that. They're going to do another
1:02:03
Blizzard game that's just every every
1:02:05
game milange thing. And you're going to
1:02:08
hear stuff like, "Oh, I dropped it. I
1:02:09
dropped it way too close to the uh
1:02:12
Forsaken camp and and they had to use my
1:02:14
nuke to get away."
1:02:16
>> [laughter]
1:02:16
>> Did you know that in that trailer, if
1:02:18
you play with the um the video settings
1:02:20
on it, you can see a ruined Protos Nexus
1:02:23
in the background when there the gates
1:02:24
open on that barracks?
1:02:25
>> That's cool.
1:02:26
>> It is cool. Um Liz P, I'm going to ask
1:02:30
not you not to do it because it's Liz
1:02:31
H's job and I don't [clears throat] know
1:02:33
why I said Liz P because I knew I met
1:02:34
Liz H. But anyway,
1:02:35
>> could do it.
1:02:37
>> No, [laughter]
1:02:37
>> I am a Liz and thus qualified. But
1:02:39
>> yes, you do. You could possibly channel
1:02:42
the power but it might destroy you.
1:02:43
whereas Liz H is [laughter] more
1:02:45
experienced. So Liz, if you don't mind,
1:02:48
channel forth the power of the site
1:02:50
news.
1:02:51
>> So I want to thank say thank you to

1:06:02
you for your support.
1:06:03
>> And thank you for making this 600th
1:06:05
episode of Blizzard Watch possible.
1:06:08
>> Yeah. Wow.
1:06:09
>> 600.
1:06:10
>> Woohoo.
1:06:11
>> Yes. Now next one will be 601 which is
1:06:13
not a cool number at all
1:06:15
>> but that's it's still this is so many
1:06:17
numbers.
1:06:19
>> How did we get to this number? I don't
1:06:20
know.
1:06:21
>> With 601 you can start saying we have
1:06:23
over 600 podcast episodes.
1:06:25
>> Mhm.
1:06:26
>> Well yes that is true. Just like when we
1:06:28
hit 501 and I started saying oh god I'm
1:06:30
so old.
1:06:32
>> But also we've only got 65 episodes to
1:06:35
go after next week to 666. [laughter]
1:06:39
>> The old Diablo episode. Yes, the all
1:06:41
Diablo episode. Um, and we can basically
1:06:44
hopefully uh that's like what we do one.
1:06:47
No, that's less than that's like a
1:06:49
little bit more than a year away. We
1:06:50
won't even be halfway to
1:06:51
>> We'll get there. We'll get there. We'll
1:06:53
get there.
1:06:53
>> It's so close to Halloween. It's almost
1:06:56
like it was fake.
1:06:56
>> Good point.
1:06:57
>> Yeah, that's that's um But, you know, I
1:07:00
want to thank uh Liz P and Mitch and
1:07:03
Corey for all showing up and helping us
1:07:05
celebrate the 600 episodes of this this
1:07:08
shindig. Thanks to you all.
1:07:10
>> You're welcome.
1:07:11
>> Thanks for having us on here.
1:07:12
>> Thank you.
1:07:13
>> And thank you to Liz and Joe for
1:07:15
basically making this podcast even
1:07:17
possible and happening. And thanks to
1:07:19
all of you out there listening who give
1:07:21
us a reason to do a podcast because
1:07:24
otherwise it's it would just be us
1:07:26
talking about clocks, which I mean I
1:07:28
think we could do one interesting clock
1:07:29
episode, but I don't think we could do
1:07:31
like 600 of them. Come on. That's a lot
1:07:33
of clock episodes.
1:07:34
>> I could probably do three or four weeks
1:07:36
about watchmaking.
1:07:37
>> Yeah. about watch making but all right
1:07:39
yeah I'll give it to you
1:07:41
>> yeah there are mini clocks you know
1:07:43
although now I'm like thinking like mini
1:07:44
bagels I don't know why but I hear mini
1:07:47
and immediately I think bagels I'm
1:07:49
hungry is what I'm trying to say uh
1:07:51
thank you guys for being here this has
1:07:53
been the Blizzard watch podcast thank
1:07:54
you for these 600 episodes and thank you
1:07:56
for as many more as we managed to get to
1:07:58
I'm pulling for 1,200
1:08:00
>> let's go
1:08:01
>> I want to survive that one just another
1:08:03
10 years or so easy
1:08:04
>> yeah I'm hoping we'll all be alive uh
1:08:06
maybe we'll in a caravan. I don't know.
1:08:09
>> It's possible.
1:08:10
>> Bye everybody.
1:08:11
>> Bye.
1:08:11
>> Bye.
1:08:12
>> Bye.
1:08:13
>> Bye.
