We hope you got your fill of both the gameplay and the Player Housing rewards from Decor Duels, because they're going away in World of Warcraft patch 12.1. Well, you may be able to still get the decor, but not so much the transmog or mounts (at least according to the PTR). It was a fun little mode, but there was so much else going on we didn't get to play a ton, so we'll probably be investing some time in it before it goes away. And speaking of having no time and player housing, patch 12.1 brings us artisanal rooms, which are rooms that are essentially preset that you can just pop in to your player housing. Neat! This week's special guest Six helped us run down some stuff coming on the 12.1 PTR.
But it's not all WoW. There are some changes in Diablo 4 worth a chat, and some Fallout news in the works with Bethesda's presser last week. Now if you'll excuse me, I am now contractually obligated to listen to Big Maybelle sing Whole Lotta Shakin Goin On.

Hello everybody and welcome to the
0:11
Blizzard Watch podcast where we talk
0:13
about Blizzard Entertainment and its
0:15
many games and then sometimes other
0:16
games or you know other cool nerd things
0:19
that might show up but but we have a
0:21
focus and we stick to the focus first
0:23
and foremost. I'm Matt.
0:25
>> Yes, sometimes uh I'm Matt. Uh, I'm I'm
0:29
talking I'm the talky person. Uh, with
0:31
me this week are other talking people.
0:33
First up, our special guest. Um, do you
0:36
want to go by six? Like
0:38
>> six is good. 6K, you know, just keep
0:41
saying six and eventually I'll answer.
0:43
>> Yeah, he's kind of like the candyman of
0:45
the podcast today.
0:47
>> On the site you will on the site you'll
0:49
see him as Max.
0:51
>> Although I'm not nearly that pretty.
0:53
>> Well, you're pretty. I think you're very
0:55
pretty.
0:57
Well, I'm Max Powers.
0:58
>> Oh, okay.
0:59
>> You strap my writing to your eyes and
1:01
feel gez. [laughter]
1:03
>> Anyway, uh, now that that now that I'm
1:06
horrified at my core, um,
1:09
>> also with me are Liz Harper, the EIC of
1:13
the site, the editor-inchief, and Joe
1:14
Perez, who I've previously likened to
1:16
various Norse and Greek and Celtic gods
1:19
who made stuff, and now I'm just going
1:21
to say it's Joe who makes our our things
1:23
go womb. I also commit war crimes in
1:25
Magic the Gathering.
1:27
>> Yes. Well, well, who doesn't?
1:29
Um, but yeah, we we've got things to
1:31
talk about. Uh, I think the first thing
1:33
we'll talk about is the the decor duels
1:36
because they're going away. I guess we
1:38
think they're going away in 12.1.
1:40
>> They are definitely going away in 12.1,
1:42
which is interesting because when
1:43
Blizzard launched these
1:46
four or five months ago, they were
1:49
definitely not going to go away. They
1:50
didn't announce they were going to go
1:52
away, but this week they announced
1:54
actually, yes, they're going away in
1:55
patch uh patch 12.1, which is it's
1:58
coming up. And uh yeah, so it's this is
2:04
the end. If you were enjoying decor, I
2:07
don't know who was really committing
2:10
themselves to decor, but
2:14
>> it will be going away in the patch. That
2:16
was one of the few things I kind of
2:18
wanted to try in the content flood that
2:20
we got, but I just [laughter] have not
2:22
had the time.
2:23
>> We have indeed had a content flood. I
2:25
mean, the real problem is it's there are
2:26
cosmetics there and I want all the
2:29
cosmetics ever.
2:30
>> Right. And I am
2:32
>> players will still be able to purchase
2:34
decor items from the vendors in Silver
2:36
Moon City. Does that also include the
2:37
transmog stuff?
2:38
>> No.
2:39
>> Oh, that's not good. It looks at least
2:42
according to the PTR right now, it
2:44
appears to only be the decor items,
2:45
which that's great. Decor, we love it.
2:48
But it does not appear that the
2:50
transmogs are available starting uh when
2:54
the patch goes live when it's no longer
2:56
when the event isn't there. It doesn't
2:57
look like the transmogs are going to be
2:59
there. So, here we are.
3:03
>> Oh. Oh, man. I don't really have
3:05
anything else to say about that. Um no
3:06
but oh I do want to mention one thing
3:08
they have done now that we know this is
3:12
this is the end the end is coming um is
3:15
they have kind of buffed the event
3:18
so you get twice the number of rewards
3:20
and there are a few things that are
3:21
going to make it easier to participate
3:23
in. Uh, so like one of the things is if
3:26
you're hiding, you will no longer be re
3:29
uh are you're no longer going to have
3:31
like flies floating around you if you
3:33
stay still for too long, which you know,
3:37
sometimes I just found a really good
3:38
hiding place and I wanted to stay there,
3:41
which I couldn't do because they would
3:43
find you. Uh,
3:45
>> didn't they get rid of the automatic
3:46
reveal thing as well?
3:47
>> Uh, yes. So, there are some things going
3:50
on that are going to make it easier to
3:52
participate, easier to get rewards, and
3:54
uh so if you haven't if you haven't done
3:57
decor DS, you probably have about three
3:59
or four weeks to get in there and uh do
4:01
some decor DS and collect all of the
4:03
rewards.
4:04
>> Get in there and play hideand go seek in
4:06
a video game, guys.
4:07
>> Woohoo.
4:08
>> I find the timing of this very, very
4:10
curious. Um, and I'm wondering how many
4:13
people were playing decor jewels that
4:15
then drop decor jewels to go play Mecca
4:17
Chameleon, which if you're not familiar
4:20
with it, it's a weird art game of
4:22
hideand seek where you have a little
4:25
tiny white like blank canvas man figure
4:28
thing that you go and like hide in
4:31
places and paint yourself to blend into
4:33
the background. Uh, which is very much
4:35
like Decor DS or other hideand-seek
4:37
stuff.
4:38
>> Um, and D is real popular.
4:41
It's It's just a prop hunt mode. You
4:43
know, it's not something we haven't seen
4:45
before. But yeah, it did have rewards.
4:47
My feeling is like with all game modes
4:51
that
4:53
uh you know, it comes and people are
4:55
excited about it and then it after a
4:58
while people are less excited about it.
5:01
And uh
5:02
>> Pix had a good point about that when
5:03
when you said that it was something he
5:05
kept thinking he wanted to try, but
5:07
there was so much other stuff coming out
5:10
pretty constantly. Like there's been a
5:12
lot of content released during the
5:14
period of time that Dickor DS have been
5:16
there. I don't know anybody who like I
5:20
think one or two people who sounded
5:21
excited about it. I didn't know anybody
5:23
was like, "Yeah, I'm doing that first."
5:25
>> Yeah. I mean, it was just it was just an
5:27
interesting little event. It was never
5:28
top of anyone's list. I've run it a few
5:30
times and uh there you go.
5:35
>> But speaking of things that are
5:37
happening and that are this time they're
5:39
they're they're bad things. Um the
5:41
unholed unit frames add-on uh is no
5:45
more. And the reason it's no more is
5:48
because people went after the poor
5:50
single dev working on it for you know I
5:54
I don't know why. I I don't understand
5:56
why you do this. I they updated it. They
5:59
were going to add raid frames. Was kind
6:01
of a work in progress. It had party
6:03
frames and just your player unit frame,
6:06
but they were going to add uh raid
6:08
frames and do big improvements. And
6:10
there were some bugs. You know, they
6:11
updated it and there were some bugs on
6:14
roll out. And uh people were not cool
6:17
about that. Uh not super happy with this
6:21
project that one person was working on
6:23
and giving them for free was buggy. So,
6:26
and yeah, apparently it was just so bad
6:29
that the developers like, I'm I'm not
6:31
doing this anymore, which
6:35
>> honestly I can't blame I can't blame the
6:37
dev, right? Like, you're you're you're
6:39
doing this for free. You're not getting
6:41
paid to do it. You're the only one doing
6:43
it. You don't have an entire dev team
6:44
with you
6:45
>> and all you're doing is getting abuse
6:47
because it's not perfect. Like when did
6:51
I know the answer to this and I hate it,
6:54
but like it it really frustrates me that
6:57
that's what the WoW community like is
7:00
being known for lately is just and not
7:02
just like with this, but like with like
7:04
grouping in game and other stuff too.
7:06
Like it's like when did we become such a
7:09
and I'm not saying we as all of us. I'm
7:11
just saying like
7:12
>> when did this become so prevalent? And I
7:14
I hate it. like this is just
7:16
>> I can testify that back that my first
7:18
experience with noticing it outside of
7:20
playing the game was in 2007 when I
7:23
joined a site called well you know what
7:25
site
7:26
>> and immediately began noticing and
7:29
writing posts about how groups were just
7:32
crazy and they just have kept being
7:34
crazy forever. I know that they're a
7:36
vocal minority. I know they're not the
7:38
majority of people who are the fans of
7:40
anything, but
7:43
they are always that the fact that
7:45
people are willing to like just jump on
7:48
something. And even if like 1% of the
7:51
people who use this add-on are are, you
7:55
know, terrible human beings, that's a
7:57
lot of terrible human beings to have to
7:58
deal with every day while you're doing
8:00
something for free. Yeah. And Yeah.
8:02
It's, you know, it's buggy. I recommend
8:03
if it's crashing your game that you
8:05
don't use it while until I get a bug
8:07
patch fix pushed out. Thanks.
8:09
>> Yeah, just just be chill people. Just be
8:12
chill. And it's like I I was using
8:16
unhalted unit frames and now I need to
8:20
find something else cuz it's it's good.
8:23
The raid frames and party frames are
8:25
looking better than they had been. I
8:27
mean, they're totally functional. I need
8:29
to like I need to customize them since
8:32
the last update and it's like well it's
8:34
not even worth customizing them because
8:35
they could break in the next next patch
8:38
cycle because no one's updating it. So
8:40
yeah, now I need to redo my interface
8:43
again.
8:44
>> Yeah.
8:44
>> Or
8:46
go back to using base party frames.
8:49
>> It's the radical entitlement of the
8:50
internet. So
8:54
>> the face. Yeah, I I definitely feel like
8:56
it's it's also annoying for people who
8:58
are like, "Hey, I was using that." You
9:00
know, because it's like they it's like
9:02
they smashed a thing, you know, they
9:04
grabbed it and said, "This false idol
9:05
will be destroyed." Like, "Hey, wait a
9:06
minute. I got my clothes in there."
9:09
>> Okay. Yeah.
9:10
>> Absolutely. Yeah.
9:10
>> Yeah.
9:11
>> So, uh but uh we got to move on because
9:15
here's a slightly better thing to know.
9:17
Um turbulent time waves are now into
9:20
their third week
9:22
>> or fourth week.
9:23
>> Fourth So, this is the fourth week. Yes,
9:25
we have two more after. Yeah. So, if you
9:27
if you've not been doing them, you can't
9:29
get the mount, guys. There's a special
9:31
mount for doing four out of the six time
9:35
turbulent time walking weeks. You get a
9:37
buff and you can get this mount. If you
9:39
haven't been doing it, that's no longer
9:40
the case. However, time walking is still
9:43
a really great way to all to level also
9:44
so forth. Go ahead, Liz. Uh yeah, just
9:47
uh as you were saying, it's it's too
9:50
late to get them out if you haven't done
9:52
any time walking previously, but there
9:54
are a lot of rewards. Uh dragon uh so
9:57
it's classic time walking this week.
9:59
Next week will be burning crusade time
10:01
walking and the week after that we're
10:02
going to loop back around to dragon
10:04
flight time. And dragon flight in
10:06
particular has some very cool cosmetic
10:09
rewards which are new as of the last
10:11
patch. If you didn't pick them up
10:13
before, then you can pick them up in a
10:16
couple weeks. And every time you go in
10:18
and do just one time walking dungeon
10:21
throughout this event, you get 500 time
10:23
warped coins, which will help you buy
10:25
all of those cool rewards. So, I have
10:28
picked up a lot of great transmog while
10:30
while I've been doing this. Not
10:33
there's always more transmog. I could
10:35
still have more transmog, but it's this
10:38
has been a good good event for me. And
10:40
now I've leveled another character to 90
10:42
doing time walking dungeons.
10:45
>> And uh I will also point out that if
10:46
you've done the previous weeks all up to
10:48
this point if you haven't missed one,
10:51
you could theoretically stop after this
10:53
week. You will have gotten the four out
10:55
of six you need. You'll have gotten the
10:57
buff four times. You'll have maintained
10:59
it. You'll be good once this week.
11:02
>> So I mean that doesn't mean you have to
11:04
stop. A lot of people just like doing
11:06
time walking dungeons and there's
11:07
nothing wrong with that. Um, I as
11:10
somebody who tanks a lot, I I have a
11:12
strange relationship with time walking
11:14
dungeons where sometimes I love them and
11:16
sometimes I really don't. Uh, and I'll
11:18
also say they broke time walking for me
11:20
a little when they made it so that my
11:21
artifact weapons didn't scale.
11:24
>> Yeah, it's depressing.
11:25
>> I mean, I think I think a lot of people
11:27
fell out of time walking then. Now, it's
11:28
just a great way to level and it's not
11:31
so much a
11:33
like an interesting challenge and where
11:36
you can build these cool gear sets. And
11:38
>> I'm wearing Yeah, I'm wearing set pieces
11:40
from six expansions and I've got
11:42
Shadoworn in one hand and Sulphurus in
11:44
the other. Let's go.
11:45
>> Oh man, I was about to bring out how
11:47
Shadoworn used to just end things in
11:48
those dungeons.
11:49
>> So did Sul.
11:50
>> Yeah,
11:51
>> Sul would scale up. It was crazy.
11:55
Ah, but anyway, yes. So, that's still
11:57
there like at least two more weeks after
12:00
this week. Um, so you can go in and you
12:02
can get your mount unless you've done
12:04
everything already and then this week
12:06
you'll get it. I don't know if you
12:07
actually get it this week if you've done
12:09
that.
12:10
>> I think yeah, if you if you do yours
12:12
this week, it should you should get it.
12:14
>> I mean, I'll let you know in three
12:15
hours. So,
12:17
>> all right, cool. I won't be here, but
12:19
you know.
12:20
>> Yeah,
12:20
>> in the future it'll be three hours from
12:22
now. Um, well, it sounded weird. Anyway,
12:26
go ahead.
12:26
>> I'll say too really quickly, like this
12:28
is a great way to level. So, if if you
12:30
don't necessarily want to go through the
12:31
rig roll, you already sort of Yeah, if
12:33
you already run a couple of characters
12:34
through all the quests, you're kind of
12:35
bored about seeing
12:37
>> the the sad paladin uh dream boy
12:39
experience. Uh yeah, just go ahead and
12:41
jump into this with whatever character
12:43
you want to.
12:45
Yes, I uh I'm looking forward to jumping
12:48
in later on tonight and finishing my uh
12:51
my leveling of my my mage, my little my
12:54
little arcane mage. I like accidentally
12:56
pulling things with a giant uh orb of
12:58
doom. It it makes me feel fun and happy
13:00
inside.
13:03
Go little go tiny tiny little orb. Pull
13:06
everything in the dungeon. Make them mad
13:08
at me.
13:09
>> [laughter]
13:10
>> bring them to me that I might introduce
13:12
them to things. So many things. Um,
13:15
okay. Let's talk about this one, which
13:17
is mostly going to be me sitting back
13:18
and letting everybody else talk because
13:20
it seems like something that player
13:22
housing people will be happy about or
13:24
maybe not. Uh, so artisal rooms are
13:28
coming to player housing. Uh, 12 patch
13:30
12.1 apparently. I don't really know
13:33
what an artisal room is. Is it like
13:35
where they make aiago cheese infused
13:37
bread? Like what is it? I mean, you
13:38
could you could you could choose to do
13:40
that if you want.
13:42
No reason you can't. Uh, but basically,
13:46
it's just a fancy special different kind
13:48
of room. So, you know.
13:51
>> Yeah. They're themed rooms. So, you can
13:53
have one is kind of like night elf
13:55
themed with like a water pool in it. Not
13:59
>> probably not a moon well. It doesn't
14:00
quite look like it. Looks it's a little
14:02
pool. Uh there are some there's a big
14:06
sort of west fall style barn room which
14:10
>> you know I don't I don't know if I would
14:12
call this a barn. It has it's kind of
14:14
barn-shaped but it has like stained
14:16
glass windows.
14:18
>> This would be the fanciest barn ever.
14:22
>> Um
14:22
>> isn't this exactly the room that your
14:25
character jumps through in the cinematic
14:26
when you roll a Wargan and you first be
14:28
you go through the bathroom [laughter]
14:30
window. Like that's that's what that is.
14:32
That's what that glass window is.
14:34
>> I am so excited for Do you see the stage
14:37
rooms or the display rooms?
14:38
>> Yeah. Yeah. There's a big there's
14:40
theater room.
14:41
>> I can display my treasures.
14:44
>> There's a there's a big grand hall and
14:46
kind of a Stormwind style which reminds
14:48
me a lot of like kind of that big hall
14:50
in your garrison if you're a you had an
14:53
alliance garrison except it's cooler
14:56
than that with its kind of domed
14:57
ceiling. Uh, so they're these are just
15:01
special rooms essentially. They have
15:05
>> Sorry, let's go for one second.
15:07
>> I was going to say the the the big
15:09
advantage of these spaces is that now
15:11
you no longer is that they're all kind
15:13
of double height, which means that now
15:15
you don't have to keep converting
15:17
stairwells without your roofs. A lot of
15:20
them. A lot of them.
15:21
>> A lot of them are double height spaces.
15:23
They have the trusses in there. They
15:24
really like take place with the volume.
15:26
They don't have you going through some
15:27
strange magic and having to limit
15:29
yourself with like whatever the maximum
15:31
like largest stairway space you can make
15:32
for that thing. So, they're going to
15:34
like just
15:36
make the spaces so much easier to put
15:38
together rather than having to just like
15:39
hamfist in just like one or two
15:41
stairways on top of each other. I I I
15:44
one other thing that I hope is going to
15:46
come with this and I don't know if I I
15:48
missed this is with the advent of the or
15:50
the uh bringing in of these and
15:53
blueprints. Um I'm hoping that they also
15:57
add in the way to like swap rooms cuz
15:59
like I would love to just swap my entry
16:02
room with one of these almost
16:04
immediately. Um but I don't want to
16:06
reattach everything to that main room
16:08
again. [laughter]
16:10
Um, that's a lot of lot of work.
16:13
>> Um, but also like these just cost
16:15
community coupons.
16:17
>> Yes, they don't require you to level
16:18
your house, but they do cost community
16:20
coupons. So, that's the thing.
16:22
>> But that's really cool. Like the
16:25
community coupons like you can use it to
16:27
buy decor and stuff like that. Having it
16:30
be able to buy actual rooms to upgrade
16:33
your house with is really really cool.
16:36
Also, it gives you an incentive to maybe
16:39
more do content than like, "Oh, I got
16:42
enough coffee cups from the Grumbles. I
16:44
don't need to worry about this stuff
16:45
anymore." Um, spoilers, I don't have
16:47
enough coffee cups from the Grumbles.
16:49
>> Yeah, can you can you ever have enough
16:51
coffee cups?
16:52
>> But like, this is a really neat idea of
16:54
expanding it. And I will say that I'm
16:57
very happy to see this be something that
16:59
done with community coupons instead of
17:02
like, oh, hope you bought some Hearth
17:05
steel like
17:07
>> right like this is this is what I want.
17:10
This is this is player engagement in
17:12
like do the stuff in you want coupons,
17:15
go do stuff in the community, go do like
17:18
your your housing chores, your
17:20
neighborhood chores, or just participate
17:22
in stuff that's happening tied to the
17:24
neighborhood and your endeavors and then
17:27
go, you know, buy cool rooms and stuff.
17:30
That's really, really cool. Like, I
17:32
really like that.
17:35
Big thumbs up.
17:37
and and yeah, they're all cool rooms.
17:39
Um, so I think one thing to be aware of,
17:42
they aren't as customizable as standard
17:44
rooms. Like you I believe you won't be
17:46
able to change out the ceiling designs
17:49
or possibly also the floor designs cuz
17:51
these are all tightly themed rooms. Like
17:55
there are a couple of blood elf studies
17:57
with domed ceilings and they have a
17:59
really cool ceiling design. So it
18:00
wouldn't necessarily make sense to just
18:02
like slap a wooden Stormwind style
18:04
ceiling on there. Uh, and all of them
18:07
are deadend rooms, so they only have one
18:10
connection. So, you can't put one of
18:11
these like in the middle of your house,
18:13
which that would be cool to put one of
18:16
these like great rooms right in the
18:18
heart of your house and have hallways
18:19
going off on any side, but these are all
18:22
currently deadend rooms and they're just
18:24
sort of designed to be that way. Uh, but
18:26
yeah, they're really cool. They're going
18:27
to cost between 50 and 75 community
18:30
coupons each, I believe. And uh yeah,
18:33
coming in patch 12.1, which is probably
18:35
going to be mid August.
18:37
>> So at least that's a different way to
18:39
spend your the tokens from, right?
18:42
>> I'm going to have to I'm calling house.
18:43
So I'm going to have to redo everything
18:44
in my house.
18:46
>> Well, that's always going to be the
18:47
problem, right?
18:48
>> Joe is becoming the way my dog reacts
18:50
when I give her a treat, like a bone or
18:52
a biscuit or anything like that. She
18:54
runs around the house for like half an
18:56
hour just trying to figure out what to
18:57
do with it. That's Joe with this change.
18:59
He's like, I got to change everything
19:01
now. Like, no, I'm literally already
19:03
like doing the blueprint in my head of
19:05
what rooms are getting like rechanged
19:06
cuz like some of these are going to be
19:08
perfect for like I have a tavern in my
19:10
in my house. Um, there are some of these
19:13
that are better laid out for that than
19:14
what I can do with what's here and use
19:17
far less resources, which is really like
19:20
that's enticing to me as well. I have to
19:22
place less stuff to get the same effect.
19:24
Thank you. Um, not that I couldn't do
19:26
it, but like there's one room in my
19:28
house that I care about. one. Um, and
19:32
like it's the bedroom slash uh library.
19:36
Everything else I will gut. I will take
19:38
it to the studs and [laughter] I will
19:41
redo it with this stuff. I I need this
19:44
like I 12.1 can't come here fast enough.
19:49
And now instead of talking about that
19:51
because we we just did, um, classic and
19:53
Burning Crusade servers are going to get
19:55
modern UI updates, which means that
19:57
basically if you've been playing modern
19:59
World of Warcraft and you're like, "Hey,
20:01
I'd like to check out that classic
20:02
thing." And then when you did, you had
20:04
no idea what was going on because none
20:05
of the stuff that you were expecting to
20:07
work a certain way did. Uh, now it
20:10
might, but they
20:12
>> they kind of like Go ahead.
20:14
>> Go ahead, Liz. Uh these are going these
20:17
are already live in Burning Crusade and
20:19
Classic Classic. Uh they went live last
20:22
week in Burning Crusade and this week in
20:25
classic and
20:28
yeah, I don't know. Uh you've got kind
20:30
of your edit mode options and you've got
20:33
a lot of the modern options. So my my
20:36
question is I don't I don't play classic
20:38
a lot. So the question is
20:41
like I think these are super convenient.
20:44
And I think the modern interface is
20:46
better, more streamlined, you can move
20:49
more stuff around, but is this also just
20:51
it's kind of not the classic aesthetic.
20:53
So, where's the balance there? I don't
20:55
know. I feel like you kind of need a
20:58
like a checkbox to turn this off if
21:00
you're just not into it.
21:03
>> I mean, my problem is that I Oh, sorry.
21:05
Go ahead. Six. So, I jumped in there
21:07
this morning because I still play SOD
21:10
[clears throat] and was absolutely
21:11
flabbergasted at where everything had
21:12
gone because not only was the new UI
21:15
there and I completely wasn't expecting
21:17
it, but also all of the apps that we use
21:21
for it were just gone. Um, yeah, and
21:24
none of the UI apps that we had
21:27
previously are workable right now with
21:30
it. So, it was one of those weird things
21:31
where if you wanted to play classic,
21:33
like starting today, you actually had to
21:36
go into there and use their UI to set it
21:38
up and do everything else you had to.
21:39
Now, to Liz's point though, I think a
21:42
lot of people are like seriously still
21:43
playing classic really are not using the
21:45
classic UI. So, but at the same time
21:48
too, it it was shocking. It I'll say
21:51
that the UI was easy to use. It's
21:53
incredibly similar to the one in retail.
21:57
Um, there's some small diff It's a
21:59
little simpler because Classic's UI is
22:01
simpler. Um, and it fixes some things
22:03
that you did used to have to use a UI to
22:06
actually do like hide the uh the
22:08
griffins and stuff on the sides of the
22:09
bars and other things like that. So, it
22:11
actually kind of helps a bit in these
22:14
situations. Um, the issue was just it
22:17
was shocking and it's just 86 like every
22:20
other UI you have. So
22:26
>> yeah, I think for my own personal
22:27
reaction to this is because yeah, as a
22:30
Liz point said, I don't I don't play a
22:31
ton of classic just cuz I I don't have
22:34
the time. Um but also
22:37
I I I when I play classic, I mean, my
22:40
brain just kind of shuts off. It's it's
22:42
understanding that time has passed. Like
22:45
I remember when I the last time I logged
22:47
in and I played for like a day and a
22:48
half because my brain was like, "Oh, we
22:51
remember this. We just sit here in this
22:53
chair for an hour and a half until we
22:54
feel like our entire inards screaming to
22:57
release chemicals. Then we go do that
22:59
and we come right back." Um, so yeah, I
23:02
I think I'm the wrong person to ask
23:05
because I would never have noticed this.
23:07
Well, no, I would have noticed this. I
23:08
just hadn't noticed it not being there
23:10
up to this point. I I don't know how
23:13
people who play classic are going to
23:14
feel about it. Um, honestly, I I feel
23:16
like they're probably
23:18
>> going to be really divided.
23:20
>> Yeah. Yeah, you're probably right.
23:22
There's Do you have more to say than
23:23
please do?
23:24
>> Well, no. I mean, like it's it's pretty
23:26
there's two very distinct camps of
23:30
people
23:32
uh that play classic. There are the
23:34
people that play it because they want
23:36
all of the old features. They want to
23:38
experience the old game. And then
23:41
there's people that want to experience
23:43
the alternate path that the game is
23:45
taking that isn't retail but isn't quite
23:48
classic. And every time they do
23:50
something like this, there's a very
23:52
distinct
23:54
I don't want to say division cuz it's
23:56
not really like a civil war or anything
23:58
like that. Um, but there are very two
24:02
usual vocal groups about it. So, I think
24:04
this is another one where some people
24:06
are going to feel very strongly for it.
24:08
Some people are going to feel very
24:09
strongly against it. So, it'll be very
24:12
polarizing in terms of uh of the player
24:15
base, at least in my opinion.
24:21
Oh, 100%. And I mean they some people
24:24
take well a lot of people do in
24:26
different degrees but I know that a lot
24:27
of people just tie their personality to
24:30
WoW sometimes and wind up sort of taking
24:32
this stuff incredibly
24:34
>> oh yeah
24:34
>> like yeah oh yeah like like if the
24:36
unhalted uniframes person thought they
24:38
were getting a lot of hate way
24:40
[laughter and gasps]
24:41
to go to the forums and see some of the
24:42
reactions to what happened with UI. But
24:44
also the thing too is like you also
24:46
don't have to change it. You can kind of
24:48
just leave it as it was. And this really
24:50
affects the people who were changing it.
24:52
This affects the people who had like
24:54
invited in the dragonfly UI add-on or
24:56
some weak ors or something else like
24:58
that. Um I mean classic setup is still
25:01
there if you want it.
25:06
>> Yeah, fair enough. That that is a that
25:08
is a fair point.
25:10
>> Sorry, I saw a thing that you put in
25:12
word chat and I was like tank. So yeah,
25:15
[laughter] um
25:18
>> I'll explain
25:19
>> I'll explain in the post show.
25:21
[laughter] Yeah, but let's going to move
25:23
on here because we're going to talk a
25:24
little bit about Diablo because Liz and
25:28
I, mostly Liz and I talked last week
25:31
about how the season 14 had some patch
25:33
notes and they were good in theory, but
25:37
it was more like, you know, okay, these
25:39
are nice steps, but uh this week, Liz,
25:41
you pointed out that they've put some
25:43
other stuff in as a hot fix and didn't
25:45
even tell anybody that much and didn't
25:48
really tell them exactly what they'
25:49
done. So, do you want to talk about that
25:50
for a sec so we can get this covered?
25:54
I don't know if you're here.
25:56
>> Uh, yeah. So, they did a hot vi a patch,
26:00
I should say patch last week that kind
26:03
of aimed to fix some things and make the
26:07
whole
26:09
uh mythic situation less
26:14
bad
26:16
because mythics have been really hard to
26:18
get. Mythics have been uh hard to
26:22
upgrade. There's a lot of randomness to
26:24
getting them. uh their their affixes
26:28
don't always fit what they do and it's
26:31
just uh there are words I want to use
26:35
here that I I'm not going to use on the
26:37
show, but it has not been a great
26:38
experience. It's randomness on top of
26:40
randomness with a slow grindy process to
26:43
get what you want. and they did uh a
26:47
patch last week that had some tiny and
26:51
inadequate improvements.
26:53
But after complaints about that patch,
26:56
they rolled out a hot fix that changed a
26:58
couple things, big big things, which the
27:02
first one is that your crafted uniques,
27:04
you used to only be able to use one
27:06
crafted mythic unique. Now, you can use
27:09
as many crafted mythic uniques as you
27:11
want, which is going to take a lot of
27:13
the uh burden off of, oh, I need to find
27:16
the perfect mythic unique out there. I
27:19
need to grind forever to find the
27:20
perfect one to drop. Now, you can craft
27:23
them if you want to. It is not a quick
27:26
or easy process to craft them, even
27:28
though last week they did make it a
27:30
little easier by cutting the amount of
27:32
currency you needed to craft them. But
27:34
now you can if you can't find it out in
27:36
the world, if you don't get a lucky
27:37
drop, you can make your own and equip as
27:40
many of them as you want. So that is
27:42
great.
27:43
>> There is however weird a weird side
27:45
effect of this cuz I've experienced it.
27:48
>> I went in with only one. I had a a
27:52
unique, just a straight up uh 850 unique
27:55
that I wanted to make a a mythic using
27:58
the uh canise cube. I had the the the
28:00
currency available, so I did.
28:03
>> It didn't make the same unique.
28:08
>> Yeah. Yeah, that's one of the things.
28:09
You still got a ton.
28:12
>> It is indeed a random roll to uh when
28:14
you were upgrading uniques using the
28:16
Harajger cube.
28:18
>> You still make weapons of the similar
28:20
type. Like in this case, I I made an axe
28:22
into a mace.
28:23
>> Yeah, it's the same item class, but it's
28:25
not necessarily the same item. So I
28:27
there are definitely still some big
28:29
frustrations here. It is everything is
28:32
so random and getting what you want is
28:35
really difficult. But um
28:39
>> this does make it
28:40
>> Yeah, at least now you know if you've
28:42
got an 850 unique that is not really
28:44
doing anything for you. Uh you can make
28:46
it into a mythic. Even if it won't be
28:48
the mythic of the unique you currently
28:49
have, it'll be a mythic unique and you
28:51
can wear as many of them as you want.
28:53
So, if you get a bunch of good ones
28:54
through the RNG, you don't have to just
28:56
look at them and go, "Okay, guess not."
28:59
You can just put them on. Uh, which is a
29:02
nice change. Uh, I do think that the
29:04
randomness factor is really still pretty
29:06
awkward, but you know, there's not much
29:08
you can do about it. So,
29:10
>> I mean,
29:12
you could make upgrading a unique to a
29:15
mythic unique
29:16
>> Well, they could do that. That would be
29:17
great. Yeah. and make it upgrade to the
29:20
same unique instead of completely
29:22
re-rolling the unique to
29:24
whatever.
29:26
>> Well, the funny part was I had just made
29:28
I had just gotten and made a an
29:32
ancestral
29:33
unique of hell, which is a big
29:36
two-handed hammer that that you know, I
29:38
was like, "Okay, cool. And now I've got
29:40
this axe, and I could make it uh I could
29:43
make this a mythic unique, and then I'll
29:45
have the axe I want." Uh, and instead of
29:48
becoming that axe, it turned into the
29:50
hell hammer.
29:51
>> I was kind of going, "Okay, it's it's
29:53
slightly better than the hell hammer I
29:55
just got, so I guess I'm good." But
29:57
thanks, I guess. So, yeah, thanks for
30:00
burning up my currency, guys. Appreciate
30:03
that.
30:04
>> They're They're trying. They're trying.
30:05
And they also increased the mythic drop
30:08
rate on the seasonal boss, the corrupted
30:11
reaper, which
30:13
there hasn't been a really compelling
30:15
reason to do the corrupted reaper
30:17
because
30:19
>> the loot
30:19
>> drops they stuck her in a in the special
30:22
new dungeon that requires the balile
30:24
level raid key. Isn't that the case? Or
30:26
was it
30:27
>> I do I do think she requires the highest
30:29
level raid key. So yeah,
30:31
>> I mean, and it's it's hard to say, okay,
30:33
I'm going to do the seasonal boss
30:34
instead of doing Bile or doing one of
30:36
the other kind of top tier bosses. Uh,
30:39
so this season has been a little a
30:42
little frustrating just because of all
30:44
the random loot drops and how difficult
30:46
it is to get upgrades. As when I play a
30:49
Diablo season, I play for as long as
30:51
it's fun. And this one, it seems like it
30:54
gets really grindy pretty soon after you
30:56
hit max level cuz you just can't get
30:58
it's so hard to get the gear you want.
31:00
>> Yeah. For the past week, they've had the
31:02
B gifts to the tree thing going on.
31:05
>> That's gone. That's already over.
31:06
>> Yeah, that's over as of today, I think.
31:08
Um
31:09
>> Yeah. Yeah, it's gone. The reason that I
31:11
I was I got back into playing war
31:13
because for that week, I mean, you know,
31:16
not only can the gift of the tree be
31:18
spawned when you when you open a whisper
31:19
cache, the gift of the tree can open can
31:21
be in your bag. When you use it, it can
31:24
put another one in there. It's got a
31:26
chance to do that. I've had like a I've
31:28
had these things chain off each other
31:30
until I've like opened five of them. So,
31:33
I was having a lot of fun during that.
31:36
I'm like, "Yeah." And now it's gone. And
31:38
I was like, "Yeah, no. I just just one
31:41
case and that's it."
31:43
>> Yeah. Yeah. Well,
31:45
>> this is why they they need to put
31:46
goblins more goblins in every season.
31:49
Just have goblins randomly appear more
31:50
>> or they need to have or they need to
31:52
have more of these like little shorttime
31:54
events cuz they do have a lot of short
31:56
time events, but they are short.
31:59
>> They are tiny little events and they
32:01
could do a lot more of that and they
32:03
just haven't. Uh, and also this season
32:07
is just kind of,
32:09
okay, we've got a new looting system and
32:12
it's terrible.
32:14
Have fun with that, guys. Have fun.
32:16
>> The fact that they put in so much to the
32:18
new loot system and then it it hasn't
32:20
been like really that much fun. Like it
32:23
has it's not better than they had.
32:26
>> Uh, it's a little problems, but you
32:27
know, I'm still enjoying the game. So,
32:29
but to move on because we've got other
32:31
things to talk about. Well, we got one
32:33
more thing to talk about for at least. I
32:34
think we may even I may even get some
32:35
emails this week. Um, we're going to
32:38
talk a little bit about Bethesda because
32:39
whilst Bethesda is not Blizzard, they
32:41
are all under the giant and I'm sure
32:44
completely benevolent uh eegis of
32:46
Microsoft and you know as long as you
32:48
don't benevolent red eye as it shoots
32:52
lasers on its own people.
32:54
>> But Bethesda's basically felt the need
32:57
to do an announcement saying no we still
32:59
exist and we're still gonna make Fallout
33:00
games. Hi guys, don't don't don't assume
33:04
we're not here because then you'll give
33:06
them ideas and the big red eye switches
33:08
over and is like should we destroy them?
33:10
No, not yet. You know, so keep that in
33:13
mind. Bethesda's really concerned with
33:15
you knowing that yes, they are still
33:17
making games. Go ahead, Liz. One one of
33:19
the big things here was that uh the week
33:23
before
33:24
uh Obsidian also had uh some cuts with
33:28
the Microsoft layouts and uh some
33:31
upcoming projects have been slashed
33:33
there, but they did say they were
33:35
working on a Fallout game. So, the rumor
33:37
mill took the lack of any news to mean
33:40
that Bethesda wouldn't be making Fallout
33:42
games because Obsidian [clears throat]
33:43
is making Fallout games. And uh
33:48
yeah, I don't I don't see how you
33:50
necessarily jump right from one of those
33:52
things to the other thing. Uh but yeah,
33:54
I think this was really designed to
33:56
combat that rumor that the franchise has
33:59
basically been taken away from Bethesda.
34:01
And so now they've confirmed a lot of
34:03
Fallout projects
34:05
and just games that I don't know if I
34:09
will see in my lifetime considering the
34:12
development schedule we have seen from
34:14
Bethesda. I just don't know.
34:16
>> I mean, you're probably going to get to
34:17
see the Annie Starfield followup.
34:21
>> I'm smiling so wide and you can't see
34:23
me, so it doesn't help. [laughter]
34:24
>> Um, The Elder Scrolls 6. I I honestly I
34:28
straight up I do not believe The Elder
34:29
Scrolls 6 exists and I will not believe
34:32
it until I see some sort of gameplay
34:34
trailer.
34:35
>> Oh, I'll believe it. I'm just worried
34:37
about the mess that it's going to be
34:38
when it releases.
34:40
>> I mean, the thing is they released an
34:42
Elder Scrolls 6 trailer, a teaser
34:44
trailer
34:46
eight years ago, and that's it. That's
34:49
it. Uh, eight years with the teaser
34:52
trailer. Uh, one thing in this Bethesda
34:55
announcement, they're definitely still
34:57
working on The Elder Scrolls 6. They
34:58
really are, guys. They're definitely
35:00
working on
35:01
>> Come back.
35:03
>> I don't know what to do about that.
35:05
>> Okay, now we can hear you. We move
35:06
forward. That's what we do about it.
35:08
>> Okay, I uh changed absolutely nothing.
35:13
>> And you shouldn't. You're perfect.
35:15
>> Thank you. I appreciate that. Um, I have
35:18
no idea when you stopped being able to
35:20
hear me, but uh, yes, Bethesda says
35:22
they're definitely working on The Elder
35:23
Scrolls 6. It is in production. It is
35:26
super great. Awesome. They have an
35:28
internal build that's really fun and
35:30
definitely playable, and it's been in
35:33
development for over eight years.
35:36
So,
35:38
>> I just I just don't see any reason to
35:40
worry myself about it. like especially
35:42
since
35:43
>> I once they did the rem the remix and
35:46
the the update to um Oblivion, I started
35:50
getting this terrible cold feeling in
35:52
the back of my neck that they want to do
35:53
this to Skyrim. They're going to do it
35:55
to Skyrim. If they did to Morowind, I'd
35:58
be okay because at least Morwind, if you
36:00
play Morowind now, it needs an update.
36:03
It's very hard to play. It's just it's
36:06
the we're not used to things looking
36:08
that janky anymore. Was it wasn't Skyrim
36:11
also saved by the community with the
36:12
updates they put out?
36:13
>> Yes.
36:14
>> I'm sure they liked it. Yeah.
36:15
>> No, 100%. That was part of the reason
36:17
that the
36:18
>> the HD like stuff and and remaster was
36:22
originally put out was because the
36:24
community was already doing that work
36:26
through Nexus Mods and everything else.
36:28
>> Yeah.
36:28
>> Um
36:29
>> Yeah. But they when they did it with
36:31
with Fallout 4, they ruined Fallout 4.
36:33
So that hard relaunch. My concern is,
36:38
and again, while I say that, Microsoft
36:40
earlier we talked about it with the AI
36:41
bubble stuff, moving away from
36:44
hardlining it into Windows and down our
36:46
throats as much as they were doing. Not
36:49
saying it's gone. Um, my concern is with
36:52
all the layoffs that Microsoft just did
36:54
in the Xbox division, which includes
36:56
Bethesda, that they're going to, you
37:00
know, shoehorn that in as a stop gap.
37:03
and you know, oh, we don't need
37:05
developers, we can claude it or
37:07
something. I'm not saying they will, and
37:09
I'm not saying that's what's going to
37:10
happen, but that's my fear. My fear is
37:12
that we're going to start seeing a lot
37:13
of these games that we've been waiting
37:14
for that have already been being worked
37:16
on for a long time, like, you know, uh,
37:21
the the, you know, Elder Scrolls, um,
37:24
like potentially more Fallout game that
37:27
we're going to see a steep dive in
37:30
quality, um, as a result of all
37:33
Right. We won't know until we see it,
37:35
but that's my feel.
37:36
>> Yeah. I mean, one thing Microsoft has
37:39
really been specific about is they're
37:41
refocusing on core franchises. They're
37:43
refocusing on their big successes. So,
37:45
you see things that were maybe not big
37:48
successes, things that maybe could have
37:49
been big successes if you gave them some
37:51
breathing room and kept working on them
37:53
aren't happening. There's not going to
37:55
be a sequel to The Outer Worlds. There's
37:57
not going to be a sequel to Avoued. And
38:00
uh Bethesda seems to be really focusing
38:03
on Fallout and Elder Scrolls. And while
38:07
this announcement did say we're
38:09
definitely working on future updates for
38:11
Starfield, this is definitely a thing
38:13
we're doing. That was
38:15
very vague and lightweight and leaned
38:18
heavily on talking about how big of a
38:21
percentage of the community used mods
38:23
from the creation club and just really
38:27
leaned into look at all this cool
38:29
community content we have and made no
38:31
specific promises on what Bethesda
38:33
itself was doing for Starfield. Um, but
38:36
it did promise Elder Scrolls 6, no time
38:39
frame. It also promised three Fallout
38:42
games. Fallout 5 currently in
38:44
pre-production. Fallout 3 remastered,
38:47
which sounds like it may be coming out
38:49
next year. They didn't say that, but
38:53
kind of the tone of things and the
38:54
announcements coming sounded like that.
38:57
And a Fallout New Vegas remastered.
38:59
They're working Bethesda specifically is
39:01
working on all three of those. There's
39:03
also going to be a big Fallout event
39:06
next year which that's going to be held
39:09
in Washington DC that kind of sounds
39:12
like that's a good time to release a
39:14
Fallout 3 remaster. Um, and they're also
39:18
there's a big new update coming to
39:20
Fallout 76 next year. And so yeah, they
39:24
promised they're working on a lot of
39:25
Fallout projects. And the Fallout
39:28
project Obsidian is working on is
39:29
something totally different. We don't
39:31
know what it is, but it's not Fallout 3.
39:33
It's not Fallout New Vegas. It's not
39:35
Fallout 5. So, I mean, the future looks
39:37
really interesting for Fallout because
39:40
the older Fallout games are still super
39:42
fun. They're I think they're all
39:45
>> great games, but they feel their age.
39:47
>> Well, and also the fact is they have one
39:50
of the better
39:51
>> video game TV show adaptations.
39:53
>> Oh, yeah.
39:54
>> Season 3 and rolling and season 3.
39:56
Season 3. The fact that they don't
39:57
already have a Fallout New Vegas
39:59
remaster to put up this season was a
40:03
mistake. I I don't know how. I mean,
40:05
maybe they just couldn't get it done,
40:06
but
40:07
>> it has felt really crazy to me that they
40:10
they've got this TV show in development,
40:12
and it has been so good. The TV show has
40:14
captured the silly, crazy feeling of
40:18
playing a Fallout game perfectly. The
40:21
tone is perfect. It's so good. It makes
40:23
you want to go play a Fallout game. I
40:25
just also say this. If you told me that
40:27
my favorite acting in a TV show this
40:31
year was going to be McCauley Kulkin as
40:33
a member of Casa's Legion, I would not
40:36
have believed you. Um,
40:38
>> yeah, that sounds like a fever dream.
40:40
And yet,
40:41
>> and he was and and he's amazing. He's
40:44
terrifying in this [laughter] and
40:47
terrifying in that that same kind of
40:50
like smarmy
40:52
almost completely way that I mean season
40:55
one had like two or three characters who
40:58
did this but nobody has beating like
41:00
like Mac on this just amazingly and and
41:04
so just kind of quiet about it but
41:06
there's like you know every every actor
41:08
in the show is at least very good at the
41:10
least. Uh um Walter Gogggins is just
41:13
astonishing as the ghoul.
41:14
>> Oh yeah.
41:15
>> Um and and I
41:16
>> off the charts.
41:18
>> Ella's just, you know, the voice of Jinx
41:20
from Arcane is now also plays gosh darn
41:24
it. You know, you know what's wrong with
41:27
me? I'm on drugs. Oh, that doesn't sound
41:29
right. Like, you know, just just wow.
41:32
So, yeah, the fact that this show is as
41:34
good as it is means that they're
41:35
absolutely feels like they should have
41:37
this is a move they should have made a
41:38
while ago. Yeah, exactly. If it just
41:41
feels it feels just so nuts that they
41:44
didn't come out of this having some kind
41:46
of Fallout game tie-in planned. I mean,
41:48
they did release the Fallout 4 the kind
41:50
of big remaster patch around the same
41:52
time.
41:53
>> Unfortunately, they crashed a lot of
41:54
things and broke a lot of things and
41:56
people
41:56
>> I I don't think it was a bad update, but
42:00
yeah, if you were using a lot of mods,
42:01
then it's just like a Warcraft patch. a
42:04
lot of the old mods stopped working and
42:06
so that's yeah not I mean when you do
42:10
any kind of big update that's how it's
42:12
going to be
42:12
>> yeah but my case for example the reason
42:14
I can talk one of the things I know
42:15
people complain about because I was
42:16
complaining about it was it broke my
42:18
creation club mods I paid them for those
42:22
>> you paid a third party developer for
42:23
those selling them through the creation
42:25
club probably
42:27
>> no they they take a cut there is no way
42:29
that
42:30
>> they take a cut but they aren't the
42:31
developer
42:32
>> I
42:33
Yes, it's I mean that's that's the
42:35
thing. It's it's a third party add-on. I
42:39
think the Creation Club stuff is all of
42:40
it or most of it.
42:42
>> But yeah, it's a paid it's a paid add-on
42:44
market.
42:45
>> But uh
42:46
>> the Creation Club is not actually
42:48
considered a third party though. That's
42:51
the problem is that even if it's made by
42:53
another developer, once it's in the
42:54
Creation Club, it's considered official
42:56
content. This is according to their own
42:58
ULA. Um, and with the the developers, I
43:01
have friends that have made stuff for
43:02
the creation club. So, to Matt's point,
43:06
uh, if they release something that
43:08
breaks a paid stuff through the creation
43:10
club, um, which is, you know, that's a
43:15
problem. That that's that's an
43:17
oversight. Um, so like it's Yeah. Um
43:22
because these are all I think if I
43:26
remember correctly and I'd have to look
43:27
it up, everything despite whether it's
43:30
made from a verified creator or not
43:31
through the Creation Club is owned by as
43:35
intellectual property uh from of
43:38
Bethesda. Well, I can tell you that it's
43:40
either Bethesda or Microsoft because uh
43:43
they actually had a Creation Club person
43:45
who did a Doom armor for for the
43:48
anniversary when when Doom Dark Ages
43:50
came out
43:51
>> and it was specifically Bethesda and ID
43:54
are mentioned as owning the intellectual
43:56
property. Now, Bethesda owned ID and
43:59
Bethesda itself owned by Microsoft. It's
44:01
it's you know, it's nesting dolls, but
44:03
you know, there are Creation Club stuff
44:05
is it straddles the line. Uh there are
44:07
places where it's just straight up this
44:09
is armor from a previous Fallout game
44:11
that we just made available to you. This
44:13
is paint.
44:14
>> Uh the paint is definitely not a third.
44:17
But all of this is just to say it is
44:20
weird that Bethesda hasn't already had
44:23
stuff to go
44:25
>> whilst they had this show funneling
44:27
people to.
44:27
>> And if Fallout 5 is currently in
44:29
pre-production, it's not going to be
44:32
released anytime soon. We're talking if
44:34
it's in pre-production right now, I
44:35
think we're talking a minimum of five
44:36
years on the low end.
44:38
>> Yeah,
44:38
>> I know. I know the bet we should make.
44:41
Fallout five or Star Citizen? Which
44:43
comes out first? [laughter]
44:44
>> I'm not taking that bet.
44:45
>> I'm not.
44:46
>> Yeah. No,
44:48
no, no, no, no, no. Who hurt you? I
44:51
guess Star Citizen might have hurt you.
44:53
No,
44:54
>> alphabetically. Now that [laughter] all
44:56
right that said I will say that uh going
44:58
back to one of the other things just as
45:00
aside before we move on to site news and
45:02
stuff um I will say and I know Matt we
45:05
had talked about this briefly um the the
45:09
the Star Starfield while it wasn't a
45:13
game that I was like particularly into
45:15
as like by itself I I really got to
45:18
shout out that there's a really like
45:20
full overhaul of the game mod that you
45:22
can get that turns it into a Star Wars
45:25
game and my god that's beautiful. Like
45:29
>> it it is actually one of those things
45:30
where I have a separate Starfield so I
45:33
don't have it on my main because it
45:36
completely it makes it a Star Wars game.
45:39
It isn't Starfield any um and that's
45:42
probably if you like Star Wars it's
45:43
probably one of the best Star Wars games
45:45
you're going to get. [laughter] It is
45:47
crazy how honestly, you know, how
45:50
Fallout, both Fallout 4 and even like
45:53
Skyrim had like mod communities that
45:56
almost like took over the game and kept
45:57
it going for decades.
45:59
>> Like in the case especially in the case
46:00
of Fallout 4,
46:02
>> uh Starfield has almost as many
46:04
developers and they're crazy. And I mean
46:07
this in the best possible way. the some
46:10
of the mods that come out. The mod that
46:11
I remember like playing the most and
46:13
liking the most, uh, someone made a
46:16
complete naval ship overhaul, like big
46:20
space battles mod where you could lead
46:22
fleets into battle against fleets. And
46:25
it's just, it's wild how big this thing
46:27
was. And they were just selling it on
46:29
Creation Club. Like, you should have
46:31
done this as an actual expansion to this
46:33
game. you should have hired these people
46:35
and put this out as an expansion because
46:38
it it's like just so much so much better
46:42
than the regular space flight in the
46:43
game, which is fine, but it's very much
46:45
just you fly around space and I hope you
46:47
find something and oh, look, you found a
46:49
planet with an empty mine on it.
46:51
Luckily, there's lots of bugs to shoot.
46:53
Um, that was never really my favorite
46:55
part of the game. and the fact that they
46:57
they did do an expansion Terran Empire
47:00
that sort of beefed it up a bit, but
47:03
nothing compared to the the one I was
47:04
just talking about. So, they've done
47:06
some crazy stuff with them. Uh, but
47:07
yeah, we should at this point um once
47:10
again we turn to Liz and say, um, can
47:12
you please do the same?
47:14
>> Uh, yes. I want to say thank you to
47:16
everyone for tuning in and listening to
47:18
us every week. Thank you for your
47:21
support. But I do want to give an extra
47:23
special shout out to our Patreon

financially every month to make sure
47:29
that this site and community can

50:01
much. You keep us going. You really do.
50:04
>> Yes, you do. And thank you also to Liz
50:05
who keeps us going by doing that every
50:07
week so nobody else has to. Quite
50:09
frankly, that is a lot of texts to say
50:11
at once. So, thank you a lot, Liz.
50:13
Seriously. And get some water.
50:17
Uh we're going to move on and do some
50:18
questions. Uh hopefully Liz will be
50:21
done. Actually, I think we got something
50:22
else planned which I think uh before
50:25
while I would love to get to questions,
50:26
there's some other stuff that we might
50:28
as well utilize 6K while he's here. Six.
50:31
Uh would you like to do a little bit of
50:33
the WOW 12.1 news updates on the PTR?
50:36
Seems you're a lot more wellversed in
50:37
that than we are.
50:39
>> Certainly.
50:39
>> You didn't put it in the document. Why
50:42
didn't you put it in the document? I
50:43
would have read it. [laughter]
50:46
>> It was in the uh the chat, I believe,
50:47
but it was just a one-off.
50:50
Uh yeah. So uh as of you know an hour
50:53
and a half ago and uh people are already
50:56
making videos of it on YouTube. I don't
50:57
know how you do this stratos but you do
50:59
this. Uh you know we got a new round of
51:01
uh changes coming from the PTR. Um I
51:04
mean the changes all in all have been
51:06
wacky. The sets have been wacky. There's
51:08
a lot of things that are interesting
51:10
halfbaked.
51:12
>> Some of them very curious, some of them
51:13
big fixes. Uh, I know shadow priests are
51:16
eating very well right now in terms of
51:17
what their set is going to be and what
51:20
they're getting from everything else.
51:21
Um, let me see. I have it open right
51:24
now, but for the most part, I was
51:24
reading over it a little bit. The
51:26
changes that came out today, uh, they
51:28
are all bonuses with like minor
51:30
exceptions. Some of them are kind of
51:32
moving the deck chairs as you say, like
51:34
lowering one thing but raising another
51:36
to sort of keeping it like in the
51:38
conversation. So, not really a nerf, but
51:40
like everybody just about everybody
51:42
mentioned in here today got a bonus to a
51:45
point. Um, it's it's far easier for me
51:48
to talk about the um the the biggest
51:51
nerf that I can see in this thing. And
51:52
don't get me wrong, I haven't read it
51:54
through and through, but the biggest
51:56
nerf is that hunters, who initially had
52:00
uh a a bizarro change of getting being
52:03
able to place hunter mark on five
52:05
different uh mobs at once. uh had that
52:09
taken away and probably for good reason
52:11
because uh Hunter's Mark in their last
52:13
iteration of it where they actually made
52:15
it a damage bonus became one of the best
52:17
bonuses you could possibly have uh a a
52:19
needed bonus for like both situations of
52:22
raids and also for mythics. And then
52:24
they gave us the crazy advantage coming
52:26
up in 12.1 of making so that you could
52:29
actually put it on five people. Uh they
52:31
took that away. So that's gone now. It's
52:33
been reverted to one. They're saying
52:34
that they're going to make some further
52:35
changes to it. They're still playing
52:37
around with it. We'll see what that
52:38
means or if anything actually comes from
52:39
that. But yeah, so as opposed to say
52:42
good old Ado having to throw down five
52:45
hunters marks on five mobs like during
52:47
our raid or anything else to that
52:48
degree. Uh his he he can rest a little
52:52
bit now. Uh additionally like everybody
52:56
got bonuses. Marksman's got a bunch of
52:58
big bonuses. Survival, they're working
53:00
on a new kind of grenade build for it.
53:02
They took away flaming pitch which, you
53:04
know, they never really developed. And
53:06
survival is always been a big fan of
53:09
undeveloped uh tools that the Blizzard
53:11
keeps giving them, but they took that
53:13
away. Made survival kind of big big
53:15
grenaders again. Uh Arcane saw prismatic
53:19
bald have a slight uh reduction to it
53:22
because it was just eating everybody's
53:23
lunch on the PTR. Uh but they also made
53:26
a bonus for Arcane to get people to play
53:28
Sunfury again. We'll see if that sticks,
53:30
but that seems a little small at the
53:32
moment. I mean, prot has also been one
53:35
of the standouts on the PTR so far as
53:37
well. Pro Paladins, I should say. Uh,
53:40
they made a bunch of changes there, just
53:43
sort of limit the use, but didn't really
53:44
give them nerfs, per se. Um, frick got a
53:48
bonus. All the rogue classes got
53:50
bonuses, although subtlety is a weird
53:52
one. Um, Resto had some big changes
53:55
coming to it. Uh, namely, and Joe, have
53:58
you read any of the Resto changes yet?
54:01
Not yet because uh I've been a little
54:03
busy.
54:03
>> You got a whole new talent called
54:05
swelling tides.
54:07
>> Healing stream. [laughter]
54:10
>> Uh but how do you really feel? Yeah.
54:12
Healing stream totem and storm stream
54:15
totem extend the duration of your active
54:16
riptides by 3 seconds when cast. So
54:20
>> I mean that's great, but also
54:23
>> yeah I mean they also updated your uh
54:26
midnight season 2 set bonus. So now you
54:28
unleash life direct healing is increased
54:29
by 50%. Actually that's a nerf. It was
54:32
100%.
54:32
>> Yep. No, that's a that's that's a nerf.
54:35
That's a nerf.
54:35
>> Yeah. Yeah. But looks like a bunch of
54:38
other stuff. Yeah. Came about pretty
54:40
well. Um Affliction got some changes. Uh
54:44
a lot of changes to talents and stuff
54:45
like that. Demonology actually saw a
54:48
bunch of nerfs. Uh well, Diablos, I
54:50
should say, saw a bunch of nerfs, but
54:51
that's okay. It was overperforming from
54:53
my understanding. Uh, warriors
54:56
got somehow they are still increasing
54:58
arms and right now arms is doing far too
55:01
well in the PTR and mythics. Um, it is
55:04
literally the standout um melee class at
55:07
the moment. We'll see how long this
55:09
stays, but for some reason they thought
55:10
it needed to stand out even more. So,
55:11
give them a few more bonuses. Uh, Fury,
55:14
>> they're right. What are you talking
55:15
about? Why [laughter] are you saying
55:16
wrong?
55:17
>> I am so sorry. I'm the one wrong here.
55:20
Uh, but yes, Layer got bonuses. Fury
55:22
directly got bonuses. Mounted thing got
55:24
bonuses under Fury. Um, let's see.
55:27
Protection warriors got bonuses.
55:30
Everybody got a bonus. You get a bonus.
55:31
And you get a bonus. I I can't stress
55:33
that enough about how there are so many
55:35
bonuses in this round. Like if if you
55:37
got mentioned, you got a bonus. Blood
55:39
Death Knights got big uh DPS bonuses.
55:42
Yeah. So, today's a happy day for the
55:44
most part for nearly everybody. But um I
55:47
recommend everybody check it out. It
55:49
kind of seemed like they r um it kind of
55:52
seemed like they were sort of scaling
55:54
back their changes today. It's kind of
55:57
wild in how many changes they actually
55:58
put in. But like I said, it was all just
56:01
for the most part big bonuses all around
56:03
to classes they felt that weren't up to
56:05
enough for whatever the reason might
56:06
have been. We'll see if any of that
56:08
changes. I'm I mean, the stuff has three
56:11
more weeks of testing. They should
56:13
really be kind of, you know, circling
56:15
the drain and getting ready to release
56:16
this pretty soon.
56:17
>> [gasps]
56:18
>> Um, but we will see. So, that's that's
56:22
my quick rundown.
56:23
>> Okay. And we are now over time. I'm
56:26
sorry I teased you, email people. Uh, I
56:28
have failed you and I will be punished.
56:31
[laughter]
56:32
I mostly just because I will feel guilty
56:34
about it. Um, but this is the end of the
56:37
podcast. Uh, thank you especially to Six
56:41
for showing up and being our third our
56:43
rotating fourth chair as it were. Um,
56:46
thank you to Joe and Liz for just doing
56:48
everything they do every week to make
56:49
sure the show keeps going. And thank you
56:51
to the audience for being the audience
56:53
because otherwise this is just us
56:55
complaining on, you know, modern team
56:58
speak or as I like to call it. So, uh,
57:01
this has been the Blizzard podcast.
57:03
Thank you guys so much and we'll be back
57:04
next week.
