How to get and level the Cloak of Infinite Potential with thread in WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria

WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria has a different gear model to any World of Warcraft game we have seen to date, one of the core mechanics being the Cloak of Infinite Potential, which acts as an upgradeable item which you will use for the entire ReMists gaming experience. It behaves like a heirloom item in that its item level scales with you, but the stats you get from the cloak are determined by the thread count of the cloak. As you adventure you will receive threads, which you use to upgrade the cloak.

The first several quests you are given when you create a Timerunning character revolve around creating your cloak. You need to gather the components and then ask Momentus to craft the cloak for you.

There are a series of achievements linked to the number of threads you can collect, and the milestones required indicate that these threads will be plentiful.

  • Infinite Power – Equip your Cloak of Infinite Power
  • Infinite Power I – Gather and use 40 Threads, new Timerunning characters will start with threads collected.
  • Infinite Power II – Gather and use 100 Threads, new Timerunning characters will start with more threads collected.
  • Infinite Power III – Gather and use 150 Threads, new Timerunning characters will start with more threads collected.
  • Infinite Power IV – Gather and use 200 Threads, new Timerunning characters will start with more threads collected.
  • Infinite Power V – Gather and use 250 Threads, new Timerunning characters will start with more threads collected.
  • Infinite Power VI – Gather and use 300 Threads, new Timerunning characters will start with more threads collected.
  • Infinite Power VII – Gather and use 400 Threads, new Timerunning characters will start with more threads collected.
  • Infinite Power VIII – Gather and use 500 Threads, new Timerunning characters will start with more threads collected.
  • Infinite Power IX – Gather and use 600 Threads, new Timerunning characters will start with more threads collected.
  • Infinite Power X – Gather and use 700 Threads, new Timerunning characters will start with more threads collected.
  • Infinite Power XI – Gather and use 2200 Threads, new Timerunning characters will start with more threads collected.
  • Infinite Power XII – Gather and use 4200 Threads, new Timerunning characters will start with more threads collected. Rewards the toy August Celestial Wings.

The August Celestial Wings toy mimics the cosmetic effect of the role-based Legendary Cloaks from Mists of Pandaria.

For those players who remember playing through Mists of Pandaria the first time through, you will remember that to access the area where the world boss Ordos is located on the Timeless Isle, you needed one of the legendary cloaks from that expansion or you would be ported out of the area, even if summoned in. A blue post on the Blizzard forums has indicated that you will need to unlock the Legendary cloak appearances in order to gain the effect of the Legendary cloaks to access Ordos.

How to power up your Cloak of Infinite Potential

As you adventure you will receive threads from several different sources, which you use to upgrade the cloak. Threads are consumed automatically when looted and are random as to which ones you will get. Creating additional Timerunning characters will benefit from the threads you have already collected and have a boosted cloak, making it easier to level Timerunning alts.

Threads are classed as potions as a consumable type and trigger a cooldown. When you use them they permanently alter the Cloak of Infinite Potential. The effect of your cloak is reflected in the buff Timerunner’s Advantage.

The common threads are a drop from mobs or contained within the Cache of Infinite Treasure quest rewards.

Common Threads

These threads can drop for characters of level 10 to 29 and grant a 1 point increase.

Uncommon Threads

These threads can drop for characters of level 30 to 49 and grant a 3 point increase.

Rare Threads

These threads can drop for characters of level 50 to 64 and grant a 7 point increase.

Epic Threads

These threads can drop for characters of level 65 to 70 and grant a 12 point increase.
