Midsummer Fire Festival loot to increase to ilvl 670 in patch 6.2

In a new tweet this afternoon from the @WarcraftDevs account, the World of Warcraft team announced that starting with the launch of patch 6.2, loot from the Midsummer Fire Festival would increase from its current 635 to 670 item level.

This will boost these elusive Midsummer Fire Festival items from the bare minimum required for Blackrock Foundry Raid Finder to the item level rewarded from the Blackrock Foundry normal raid difficulty. This is also five item levels lower than the gear rewarded from Hellfire Citadel LFR, which is coming in patch 6.2 as well and requires 650 item level to queue. With the staggered release of LFR, this a good way for your neglected alts to get up to snuff in the meantime.

Note that all items already in player possession, even from the holiday going on now, will not be reverted to the higher new item level when the patch arrives. If you need a 670 cloak, you’ll want to wait until tomorrow to start farming it. You might want to queue up once today for your Satchel of Chilled Goods, which still has a chance to reward the Frigid Frostling pet and a handful of the Burning Blossom holiday currency, which you can use to buy even more fabulous battle pets. Other than that you may want to wait until the servers come up after the patch on Tuesday. However, if you get lucky with a Frostscythe of Lord Ahune in the meantime, at least it’s still good for transmog.
