The Queue: The lovable quip-meister

Hello, everyone! Just your friendly neighborhood Mitch dropping by to say the Tuesday Queue belongs to me now! Mwahahahaha!

…Okay, but really, it’s pretty dang cool to have my own Queue day. It’s something I’ve daydreamed about for a long time, and it’s an honor to be able to say that daydream is now a reality. Better yet, I’ll be on the podcast regularly starting today (Note: It’s now an hour earlier), which makes Tuesdays All-You-Can-Mitch Day. Or something. I don’t know, I’m tired.

Anyhow, follow your dreams, kids! Unless you only have bad dreams or you dream about being financially irresponsible. Then don’t. And with that all said, let’s do some Qing and Aing.

GALDWYNN IS IN A GLASS CASE OF EMOTION:

Q4tQ: Do you ever play a certain character based on your mood? Like, I’m feeling misunderstood, so I’m going to play my Death Knight. Or I’m in a great mood, so maybe I’ll do some WQs with Addie on my Gnome Hunter today. Or I’m feeling really dark, so it’s time for my Undead Warlock Alchemist.

I can’t really say I switch characters based on mood — largely because I only have a couple of alts anyways — but I do sometimes tailor what game or how I’m playing to match my mood.

For instance, there was a very long while where Left4Dead 2 was my go-to game when I was pissed off and needed to let off a little steam. I can’t say I get mad all that often, but FPS games that have easy-to-kill enemies are great for when I do (hello, DOOM).  Seriously, it’s hard to beat tearing through zombies/aliens and shooting them to bits when you need to channel your anger somewhere.

If I’m sad, I usually shift to something that can keep my brain busy without necessarily making me think too hard. Beginner AI stomps in Heroes, mount farming old content in WoW, and so on.

ARCHMAGE RC JUST HAD TO ASK:

Q4tMitchQueue: Are you jumping straight into WoW to get the dorky priest owl?

I actually answered this in today’s Breakfast Topic, buuuuut… No. I’m behind on that quest chain by several weeks (still farming the Sentinax) and it’s not really something I prioritize right now. {PB}

I don’t like the mount as a Shadow Priest mount, quite frankly. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a very nice model and seeing it in action made me even more impressed with it, but I still don’t think it fits the “Shadow” aesthetic enough. I would have rather we turn into a literal shadow figure (think Reaper) and float around than get something that seems like a purple version of a mount that fits Priests’ other specs.

That or a tentacle mount. Who wouldn’t love going for a ride on an Old God tentacle?!

KALCHEUS IS FEELING OPTIMISTIC (BUT DOES THAT CHANGE WHAT TOON HE’S PLAYING?):

Q4TQ: As we near 7.2.5 and the opening of the Tomb of Sargeras, how do you feel about your alts? Frankly I’m feeling more optimistic now with the immediate AK40 catchup and the fact that I don’t feel compelled to raid Tomb so I’ll have plenty of time for them.

I only have two alts, and both of them have been keeping up on their research right alongside my Priest, which means I’ll be hitting AK40 on all three within a day or so of each other. I will say, it’s nice to be done. Missing out on the percentage boost 50 ranks would have supplied is a bit of a downer, but the relief from knowing I don’t have to keep up on research outweighs that for me. So I guess in terms of Artifact Knowledge, I’m grateful that whichever toon hits 110 next will be able to immediately hop into content. Really, the same goes for gearing.

So yeah, even as someone who isn’t an alt person, it’s nice to know that whenever I do get bored enough to level again, I’ll be able to jump into current content a hell of a lot quicker.

SPACEBARD HOPEFULLY STARTS A MILLION TANGENTS IN THE COMMENTS:

If you could only have 1 food for the rest of your life, but endless supplies of it? What would it be?

Uhh… let’s go with potatoes, because they can be made into so many things. Potato pancakes, french fries, a cake, potato chips, baked potatoes — there’s just a whole lot of variety to be had with potatoes. Although I’m pretty sure eating the same food every day for the rest of your life would be horrible no matter what food you pick.

Unless you have a pretty low life expectancy, that is. But that’d be sad.

THE HONEYMOON IS OVER FOR MOVEWOW:

Q4tQ: I’m still enjoying Legion, sure there’s always room for improvements, but the one year honeymoon period seems to be over for a lot of players. Are you still enjoying Legion or do you wish it would be over so we can move on to the next expansion?

I’m not necessarily ready to move on to the next expansion, but I am ready to have more story and new scenery to digest. I’m really hoping Argus is another Suramar and not another Broken Shore. That said, I’m almost always looking forward to whatever expansion is next, mostly because it’s really fun to discover a new zone for the first time.

It’s like staying in the same home for a while. You can probably find ways to make home life interesting even if you’ve gotten accustomed to a routine that’s starting to grow old, but that doesn’t mean you wouldn’t be excited to go on a vacation.

A COUPLE OF YOU MENTIONED WEEKEND QUEUES…

I’m not Adam, who probably can answer this much better — and I hate to sound like a broken record — but weekend Queues got nixed because very few people read them, let alone anything on the site at all. Those of you saying you only came to the site on weekends because of The Queue aren’t wrong — but you’re pretty much the only ones who did. People are still hanging out in Friday Queues on the weekend, though, and to supplant weekend Queues, you do have Mitch Queues.

Plus, it helps keep the writers sane knowing they can have the weekends not worrying about work. Trust me, some of the decisions made with “2.0” were tough, but we made them for the good of the site overall. Big picture and all that.

RESPECTIVELY, ENO AND ARCHMAGE RC ASK BASICALLY THE SAME QUESTION:
  1. QftMitch: Do we have a chance against Malthael?
  2. What are your current thoughts on the new Hero Malthael? Is this the dark god your shadow priest serves now, or are you just kind meh on him?

I’m going to try to write something more in-depth up at some point (like when the PTR Quick Match estimate isn’t almost 20 minutes), but I really like him. His kit and playstyle fit him quite well, and he does feel like a slow-but-sure reaper coming to kill you. He’s a lot squishier than I expected, and you really need to micromanage your trait in order to survive. His DOTs make him feel a little bit like Lunara, but he’s a much slower attacker with a lot of self-sustain potential.

He’s not about to gank anyone from the bushes and 100-0 them, but I can still see him being the kind of Assassin that turns the tide in a team fight thanks to his plethora of percentage-based attacks. Even more so if he has a healer sustaining him beyond his self-healing abilities.

ENO GETS TWO IN A ROW:

I just read Rossi’s article on Natalie Seline. Should we expect more from Natalie Seline if we get an expansion centered on the Void since she’s had so much experience with Xal’atath? Would/should she become the leader of the shadow priests?

Here’s the thing about Blizzard: They really don’t seem to bring many characters from one expansion to the next. So really, I don’t expect to see Natalie much after this expansion… maybe a bit here or there, but nothing major.

Do I want to see more of her if we get a Void-centric expansion? Heck yeah. But I’m not sure she’d want to lead the Priests given how her last time leading a group of Priests went. I’d rather Shadow Priests just sort of stick to their own business and all collectively worship the Void rather than have a leader that could risk becoming too obsessed with the position and/or succumbing to the Void (which would not only feel too familiar for a Warcraft baddie, but also be far less than Natalie deserves).

MISTAH JAY AND LOTHARFOX ALSO HAVE RESPECTIVE, SIMILAR QUESTIONS:
  1. To whoever’s doing 2 Bosses Enter, now that Li’tch Queues don’t seem to be a thing (correct me if i’m wrong on this). 2 Bosses Enter: Angel/Aspect of Death Malthael vs Primal Evil Diablo
  2. Two Bosses Enter: Li’itch Thursday Queues vs. Mitchwatch Tuesday Queues?

TBE 1: Malthael, hands down.

TBE 2: They’re both great in their own ways. I like having my own personal day for Queues, but I’m going to miss Li’itch Queues. They were a lot of fun (and um.. a lot less work). Truth be told, I may try to sneak my way into Liz’s Queues every now and then because I have a lot of fun with those. I’m sure she wouldn’t set me on fire or anything if I asked.

Okay, that’s it for today’s Queue. Make sure you talk about all sorts of nonsense and make it super difficult ask lots of questions for Liz tomorrow!
