The Queue: The day is here, the circle is complete…

Happy Halloween, everyone! I love this holiday — it is, for me, what Christmas is to many. I can’t quite explain it… it’s definitely at least partially because I was raised in a family that loves Halloween, but it’s also just something that I’m sure I’d have been drawn to anyhow. It’s not always the idealized version we get in movies and TV, but it’s still special.

I don’t know if y’all are familiar with the Department 56 stuff, but it’s somewhat of a tradition that we get my mom a new piece or two for her birthday every year (since it’s close to Halloween). If I could, I’d love to live in a place that was like the Halloween village all year round.

In any case, Happy Halloween, everyone! I’m please to be your spooOooOOOo00oky host today! Oh, and about that title

LOTHARFOX GETS US STARTED ON A FITTING NOTE:

QfortheQuevians: What are you dressing up as for Halloween?

I’ll be dressing up as Arrow, circa Season 5 of the current TV show. I haven’t really done anything crazy costume-wise in the past few years, so I’m making this year count. Depending on how I feel about them, I may post a few pics of the getup on Twitter — and if I don’t, just use your PG-13 PG imagination.

JULIAN RAYNE WANTS TO KNOW IF THINGS WILL BE ALL WHACKED UP THIS WEEK:

Will the LoreWatch and BlizzardWatch podcast schedules be interrupted for BlizzCon? Will you be doing special podcasts or something?

Last I checked, I think Anne was planning on releasing the latest Lore Watch a bit early because having it after BlizzCon didn’t make much sense. I don’t think recording for that one will change at all. As for the Blizzard Watch podcast, it’s still going to be at its usual time, although I am going to be out both today (because Halloween) and next week (because airplanes).

SAIK IS HOPING WE DON’T GET ANOTHER CONTENT DROUGHT:

Q4TQ: Providing we get the 8.0 expansion reveal at Blizzcon (which is likely), where do you think that’ll put us in terms of release date? I’m thinking next September unless they are extremely far along, or changing the longstanding expansion model.

I believe it’s on record that Antorus is the last raid of Legion. We’ve been here before, but I can’t imagine going roughly a year with Antorus.

Honestly, even if we’re at the usual “two year expansion cycle,” that puts us before September at the latest. Given the crazy consistent release schedule we’ve had, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised to see the expansion out before the end of July — though I’ve been overly optimistic in the past, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

MOVEWOW NEEDS IMMERSION. IMMMEEEERRRRRRSSSSIIIIIOOOOOOONNNN….

Q4TQ: When you’re playing WoW are there any small things that just pulls you out of the game? For me it’s when I can’t sit in an in-game chair. Oh, look a chair, oh wait I can’t sit in it, but over in the other building I could! Grrr!

Also, when I try to drop stuff from my bags that I can’t vendor, I get something like, “Do you want to destroy this item?” No I want to throw it on the ground! :D

{PB}With any sort of media, sounds can pull me out more than anything else. I absolutely hate the Wilhelm scream — it was used in at least one of the StarCraft 2 cinematics, and the second I heard it, I was taken out. I seriously can’t stand that stupid stock sound. On a not-quite-as-distracting level, hearing stock cat meows, door-opening creaking noises, or baby cries in TV and movies also annoys me.

So when it comes to WoW, if there’s an NPC that just gets done with some specific dialog for a quest that sounds super cool and suddenly says, very casually, “For the Alliance” when I click on them… yeah, that reminds me I’m in a game. It’s also why I am adamantly against having the original voice lines for Velen when you click on him. Not only are the words irrelevant, the voice actor is clearly different. ARGHHHH(us).

MALKIL, THE DARK FIRE PROVIDES ME WITH A PERFECT OPPORTUNITY FOR SOME DARK HUMOR (BUT DO I TAKE IT?):

Very important Q4tQ: Do all Worgen go to heaven?

As a matter of fact

No.

HUSSKIES CALLS ME A HALF-GOD AND I LIKE THAT, SO I’M ANSWERING HIS QUESTION (YES, THAT’S ALL IT TAKES):

Q4TQ Half-god Mitch edition: You being both a fan of the forsaken/Sylvanas and the void, how do you think Sylvanas and Alleria will get along? The Alleria we knew would have hated everything that Sylvanas now stands for but do you think her embracing the void can somehow make her understand her sister’s motivations a bit better?

With a caveat in place, I think that it will make Alleria much more sympathetic to Sylvanas’ condition, and it will make Sylvanas feel as though she can get away with converting Alleria (in some fashion or another) in a way that she couldn’t with Vereesa. I don’t think it’s going to change Sylvanas’ determination to bring her family together in undeath, but I do think it will make Alleria potentially argue on behalf of Sylvanas is she needs.

The caveat, however, is that if Sylvanas decides to use her position as Warchief to put the Horde on the offensive — struggling with being forced to live a life after death is one thing, but engaging in war against Alleria’s allies is another.

WHA-WHA-WHA-WHA-WHAAAAAAT?!

2BE: Malfurion vs illidan (via Mistah Jay)

another 2BE: Hakkar vs Hakkar (also via Mistah Jay)

2BE: Titan Keepers (and their minions) vs Bolvar Lich King (and his scourge) (via…Kelcheus?!)

  1. Screw Malfurion.
  2. Hakkar would best Hakkar time and time again. Really, it’s no contest here — unless Hakkar becomes a hacker — a hacker Hakkar, if you will — then Hakkar stands no chance against Hakkar.
    1. Also, Hakkar the Soulflayer is a deity. Even without fighting somewhere that Hakkar the Houndmaster can be killed permanently, Hakkar is the clear winner.
  3. The Titans may be old af, but they’re also a bit… unchanging. They follow protocols and have also been shown to be corruptible. I think Bolichvarking has both the forces and the cunning to beat the Titan Keepers and any minions they bring along with them.

ENO… :)

Hi, Mitch!

*Logs out*

Ohai! ^_^

MUSEDMOOSE SETS ME UP FOR A RANT, BUT I’MA KEEP IT SHORT AND SWEET:

Q4tQ: is there an item you wish you could transmog your artifact to, but can’t?

For me, it’s the Runestaff of Nordrassil: http://www.wowhead.com/item… I never could transmog it, because I got the legendary that it leads up to, which meant never having the staff itself available for transmog. >_< But fire is the only mage spec I’m good enough at to main, so I can’t use it. As much as I like the artifact weapons, I’m looking forward to whatever comes next, so I can wield a staff again and finally use that beautiful model.

I’ve gone on at length about this in the past, but yes… I would love to actually be able to transmog Knaifu into a staff. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Knaifu, but staves are just cooler (and more visible) overall. Outside of Anathema, I’m actually a big fan of some of the Holy Priest staff variants — there are one or two Void-themed ones that just… ugh, they’d look so good on a Shadow Priest.

ARCHMAGE RC ALSO HATH SPOKEN MY NAME:

Q4tQ since it appears Mitch has awoken and is poking around for questions :)
It seems that there’s almost always an Argussian Reach or Army of the Light emissary up in any set of three, so I have a Qfer two for: A) How likely is it that Blizzard planned this to try and keep people from wanting to come back to Argus? B) Do you think they’ll eventually adjust the “spawn” rates so it’s more truly random?

The thing about RNG is that it’s random (that’s what the R is for!), so it’s hard to say for certain… though I do suspect there’s something going on behind the scenes to keep one of those two up more often than not. It’s kind of like those Tuesdays you log in and a ton of people “randomly” get legendaries — sure, it could be everyone’s lucky day… but it could also be some number tweaking that Blizzard didn’t decide to make public. As for the “two” of your fer, I do think they’ll drop the rates down eventually, but when that will actually happen is hard to say.

That’s all for today’s Queue! This time tomorrow, I will be on a plane heading to BlizzCon — I hope to see plenty of you there, and I also hope you have a safe and fun Halloween no matter what your plans for the evening are! Be sure to leave something or other for Liz (who, apparently, may be firing me very soon).
