The Queue: Was there really ever any question here?

Once again, it’s time for a Splatfest Queue — this month pit Love against Money (because Valentine’s Day I guess). Obviously, I went with Money because LOVE IS A LIE AND WE ALL DIE ALONE!!!

Ahem.

Perhaps the better way to phrase that was to ~quote my brother: “Love can’t buy me food.” Can you really argue with him? Let’s Queue.

ZEL GIVES ME A TOUGHIE THAT I CAN’T QUITE TOP:

Q4tQ: How great was Ulduar as a raid? Has Blizzard ever done anything as fantastic (or nearly) as “The Descent into Madness” hallway?

There is absolutely nostalgia behind my answer here, but Ulduar was so freaking good as a raid on, like… every single level. The size represented the Titanic nature of the place, (almost all) the fights had Hard Modes that were unique to toggle and especially challenging, and, as you mentioned, the Descent to Madness was the perfect visual representation of the actual shift from Titan to Old God.

Has Blizzard managed to rival that hallway in other areas? In terms of visually impressive raids, Star Augur in Nighthold definitely blew my mind the first couple times I saw his encounter. Ditto of Elegon’s room. I think the only thing that really comes close in a visual and metaphorical level might be the new Karazhan. Everything from the Curator onward has something awesome (especially the descent after Shade of Medivh).

Oh, by the way, Yogg’s opening speech? Perfect in every way. I still get chills.

“I am the lucid dream…”

ALEX ZIEBART IS GRUMPY ABOUT SOMETHING:

Why won’t Blizzard let my Void Elf have a rose in her hair!?

Okay, I guess your grumpiness is validated here. I don’t really get the point of restricting holiday transmog to the holidays themselves if you have to work your butt off to get the transmog in the first place. Cheapo cosmetic items that the vendor will sell you for a couple copper on Day 1 of the event? Sure, whatever.

Blizzard’s transmog rules are pretty odd (still), and I’m waiting for them to embrace the system for what it is: a fun way to look how you want with the gear you’ve earned.

DOMEHAMMER GIVES ME A QUESTION I HAVEN’T THOUGHT ABOUT BEFORE:

What critter makes the best old god minion. Squirrel, Rabbit, Mouse, or Chickens?

If those are the only choices? Squirrels. You don’t mess with squirrels (NSFW-ish language).

KATONA-FILA EMESE ASKS ABOUT HONOR:

Have Blizzard said anything about how Prestige will work going forward?
Will they just keep addig ranks or everyone will get reset next expansion?
What do you think?

To my knowledge, no, they have not. The only real clue we have to go off of is the fact that they’ve never excluded PVP Artifact appearances from the list of appearances that’ll be unattainable come Battle. Personally, I hope they reduce the honor required to earn Prestige ranks for those that were available in Legion, but continue adding more. This way, we get a soft reset without locking us out of the Legion PVP rewards, and folks who’ve spent this expansion grinding will be able to hop right into the new expansion’s rewards.

But, again, we don’t really know :(

UPDATE: HEY IGNORE WHAT DUMBO ABOVE SAID. Sally Bowls pointed out the following from a January 30 interview: “Prestige System – we’re not going to keep adding dozens of new tiers and rewards. It doesn’t make sense. But we don’t want to undermine the time people have put in during Legion. We will keep Legion Prestige Ranks, though in BfA, we may go with loot boxes given for benchmarks or similar. This is early in iteration and may change over time. Our thought: It depends on what’s in it similar to what’s already in WoW, it’s useless.”

Boooooooo! (It won 68% to 32% in popularity, which is a pretty big margin for these things.)

ATANAE, WHY DO YOU MAKE ME CHOOSE BETWEEN THESE THINGS?

Who would win in a pun-off: Mitch or Khadgar?

Completely 100% objectively with no bias at all, I think I would win. But I’d concede to Dadghar out of respect before we could actually have the pun-off. Dude’s too cool to beat.

SERENAIS HAS ANOTHER MITCH-BASED QUESTION:

What is the most Mitch thing still missing from BfA?

An NPC in my honor. Or an item. Really, anything in-game that ties back to me. Chop chop, Blizz!

(I’m not actually so full of myself that I expect anything, but hot damn would I still love to.)

KALONTAS HAS BEEN IN A COMA FOR SEVERAL YEARS. JUST ACT COOL AND DON’T SAY A THING:

Q4tQ: My mage just went from Outland straight to Pandaria and it feels so weird. Like a couple of years were missing from her life. Anyone else feel that way?

Man, you chose Outland over Northrend? I mean, I love Hellfire — don’t @ me — but I don’t know if I’d spend the entirety of 60-80 there!

To answer your question: I don’t, actually. I think I’ve leveled so many times and seen the content so much — not to mention, skipped a ton of it because of how fast leveling used to be — that I mentally tune out those “years” in my alts’ lives. They’re leveling in the now and how they get there is a blur.

NULGAR HAS A QUESTION THAT ONLY PHILOSOPHERS CAN ANSWER. I AM A PHILOSOPHER NOW:

How do you pronounce “Queuestions”?

Queue + st͡ʃən.

(It’s just Queue with the final syllable of “question” attached to it.)

MISTAH JAY HAS AN EXPLOSIVE QUESTION:

Did the Silverbrook Worgen in Grizzly Hills get changed in Cata when player Worgen became a thing, or was it a recent thing?
Also, 2BE: McGoyver vs Makael Bay

I don’t know when they changed, but other commenters seem to think it wasn’t immediately with Cataclysm. That sounds right to me, but it’s been a looooong time since I paid any real attention. As for when they did change… no clue. There’s a video posted during Warlords where they have the old models, though, so it looks like it’s within the last ~2 years.

McGoyver wins, because we have a cat named MacGyver.

That’s all for today. Remember, folks, love doesn’t always win. It just happened to this time.
