The Queue: Not feelin’ it

Here’s an intro.

ARCHMAGE RC HAS AN INTERESTING ASK:

Q4tQ: If WoW races existed in our world, what races do you think would be the most prevalent in your city/county/state/provenance/fiefdom/whatever? I think Texas would be a tauren-state and not just cause of the steer. We also have naturally large-ass mounts (trucks) here.

Are we limiting ourselves to playable races here? If so, I think Michigan probably fits Worgen the best. While we do have industrial-type areas that might fit Goblins, the state overall is very forested. There’s a solid amount of precipitation here, plus we’re surrounded by water.

Reverse ask: What parts of the United States (or world) would the other races live? Debate amongst yourselves!

MOVEWOW, I’M A FAN OF TRANSMOG, BUT…

Question for Everyone: Would you like to be able to morph your facial likeness onto your WoW characters in the game? It would be the ultimate Transmog!

I think that would be a bit too freaky for me. Even in games where I can make a character look like me, I usually go for something way “out there” that resembles me in almost no way. It’s just my particular preference for video games — I can see facial morph being interesting for some.

HI, TIM:

This has probably been asked a dozen times, but should every race get a Heritage Armour set (with exceptions for playing as a Hero class to prevent an unfair advantage)?

I think a Heritage Armor set for all the game’s races would be wonderful, and I’m excited to think of what Blizzard could come up with. That said, I don’t want the armor to be unlocked by leveling. Good Yogg, please, anything but more leveling. I’ve had my Forsaken Priest for ~13 years — if I had to level a new Forsaken from 1 to max just for the armor, I’d probably literally flip a table.

In general, I think Heritage Armor sets need to start diverging from the “level to max” approach. That’s a real easy way to cause burnout when there are plenty of other approaches to be taken.

KALE CHEESES, SORRY ABOUT THAT TIME I CALLED YOU KYLE:

Fan Fic prompt: Ysera avoids the corrupted Tear of Elune, and it hits ? instead

Q4TQ: Do you want Shadow Priests to go back to staffs in BFA, or are you too in love with Knaifu to ever go back?

  1. If it hits Malfurion, can we kill him permanently? If so, I want it to hit him. Several times. If not Malfurion, there would be some pretty interesting possibilities if it hit another dragon like, say… Chromie.
  2. More than going back to any particular weapon type, I’d just like to be able to transmog to a staff. I get there are technical limitations but ugh. I just prefer a staff. Knaifu is a companion, not a weapon. I prefer my weapons to be staves.

SPENCER MORGAN, SUP?

Q4tMitch: why can’t Spriests self Rez as a void child (see also: tentacular abomination)?

BonusQ: what does it mean to ‘woomy’?

BECAUSE BLIZZARD HATES FUN, THAT’S WHY!

Ahem. Probably because it would be a bit too strong or steal from some other class’s fantasy or whatever. Who knows. In a world where balance weren’t an issue, Shadow Priests would be the best at literally everything because Praise Yogg.

To “woomy” is to make a noise akin to a squid. Or a kid. Or a squid. Or a kid.

TKC HAS A PROBLEM INVOLVING NUMBERS OR MATH OR SOMETHING:

Q4tQ: You are driving down a one-way road and pass a strip of a large number, N, of hotels. These all have different rates, arranged randomly. You want to maximize your chance of choosing the cheapest hotel, but you can’t return to one you’ve passed up. Assume that your only goal is to obtain the cheapest one (the second cheapest is of no more value to you than the most expensive). If your strategy is to proceed past a certain fraction, x, of them and then pick the next one that is cheaper than all the ones you’ve seen so far, what should x be? What, then, is the probability of success? Assume that N is very large, and ignore terms in your answer that are of subleading order in N.

I should’ve read this before including it, because I have no freaking clue as to the “correct” answer. (Though I am interested to see it worked out.)

In the meantime, if N is indeed very large, then it makes sense that passing a large amount of hotels (x) would result in the “next one cheaper than all the others” being closest to the cheapest hotel. So, passing 100 hotels makes my next “cheapest” hotel more likely to be the true cheapest than if I only passed 10 hotels.

Ergo, I drive until I’ve passed an amount of hotels that leaves my gas tank 10% full. MATH!

MO D MAHONEY‏ (@DAVIDMOMAHONEY) HAS BEEN PAYING ATTENTION TO MY MARVEL TWEETS:

How are you enjoying the MCU [Marvel Cinematic Universe]?

Quite a bit, actually! The ones that I expected to be good — Winter Soldier, Civil War, Black Panther, — were really good, and the ones I had heard were only okay weren’t nearly as bad as I expected. None have been outright “bad” movies, and I’ve watched nearly all of them for free.

So yeah, I’m happy to be (almost) caught up on everything, and I appreciate good cinema regardless. They’ve all been solid films, imo.

MISTAH JAY REMINDS ME OF ANOTHER CHARACTER I HATE:

2BE: The Deathlord’s 4 Horsemen vs Odyn’s standards of being worthy

It is impossible to ever truly be worthy in Odyn’s eye. He’s a trashlord and only loves himself. Sorry, Four Horsemen. It’s a losing fight this time.

Here’s an outro.
