The Queue: Snow!

We finally got our first big snowfall in Edmonton. I’m honestly surprised that we didn’t have any up until now. Over the weekend we got somewhere around 20-40cm in one nice big storm, roughly 8-16 inches for those of you not using the Metric system. Time to break out the snowshoes and get supplies I guess.

While I put on 5 more layers, it’s time for — the Queue.

RUN AND TELL ALL THE SIBYLLES

Question: What model, or graphic, needs to be updated most in your opinion (we’re talking WoW here)?

I’m torn between wolf/worg models and the general fact that characters sit wrong on mounts, as in, they sit too far back. Riding a horse or saber or whatever, one would sit right behind the beast’s shoulders, not halfway down their spine.

Well, the original Rock Elementals could use a pass. Let’s get some more varieties other than black for coal and shades of brown. Actually just all of the original model elementals. I know that we see new varieties all the time, but I wanna see higher poly counts on the O.G. ones!

But your comment about riding also makes me want upgraded riding animations. No more of this ramrod straight posture, let my character move a little bit with the mount! I know that’s a huge undertaking for the Blizzard animation team, but we spend so much time on our mounts that it would be nice if they fit our characters a bit better.

STRANGE THOMAS COULD TAKE ALL NIGHT

Desert Island WoW: You can choose one character, one zone, and one NPC.

Character can be any race and class, and is not tied to faction (dwarves in Mulgore, blood elves on Bloodmyst Isle, etc.). Let’s say the zone is evergreen, the quests never end and they continue the story of the zone or create new stories, forever. The NPC is your friend and accompanies you, and they can be anybody. What would you choose?

My Tauren Enhancement Shaman would go questing forever in Deepholm. Which is probably the best of the elemental planes that we’ve spent any time in. Think of always being damp in the Abyssal Maw, or hot in Firelands, or just the constant wind sound in Skywall — no thank you! There’s so much that can be done in Deepholm too! Deathwing lore, Stone Drakes, Stone Elementals, Old Gods, and their cultists which could all fuel lots of storylines. I definitely want to be doing all of that while hanging out with Gazlowe. I know that a Shaman and a Goblin master-builder don’t seem like the most obvious pairing, I think that we could get up to some fun shenanigans while we establish a new Horde outpost in Deepholm.

For my Zandalari Druid, it’s the Western Plaguelands. I want to lead the Druids and the Paladins in to clean up the joint. Why did I say Paladins too? Lady Liadrin. The two of us could get up to so many shenanigans with rebuilding the towns in the region and setting up a new academy at Scholomance. Plus there’s always the Eastern Plaguelands right next door, and they still have Plaguelands in the name, maybe we take a day trip over to help with cleansing the Blight.

THINK I NEED NULGAR TO HELP GET THINGS RIGHT

My apologies to Edgar Wright, I first (after seeing trailer scenes) dismissed Baby Driver as just some story about a young genius getaway driver who falls in love with a beautiful young woman yadda yadda bland stuff, but it’s so much more.

Today, I finally hit the Play button (luckily it’s on Prime in my region) and, this doesn’t happen that often again, I barely looked away from the monitor it was running on, I didn’t play a game (usually WoW) alongside it (or rather, the other way around)

Q4tQ: What is your favorite Edgar Wright movie?

Baby Driver is excellent! Jon Hamm should be in more things, he’s a super fun actor.

I think my favorite Edgar Wright movie is The World’s End. I saw it three or four times in theaters and I don’t remember the last time I went back to the same movie that many times. It’s my favorite of the Cornetto trilogy, but just by a hair. Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead are both such smart satires of their genre’s, while still being worthy examples of their genres!

Edgar Wrights’s whole filmography is just top-notch. I’m still sad that we never got to see what he could do with Ant-Man.

I’M LOOKING TO JONATHAN GANTZ TO SAVE ME

Got any warcraft quotes that live rent free in your head? For me the “You Are Weak” from the yulon priestess in jade serpent shrine comes out with little provocation. Tracer tries to 1v1 me and i accidentally head shot her:”You Are Weak”

“Good news everyone, I’ve fixed the poison slime pipes!” Actually, just the whole Plague Wing from Icecrown Citadel. I loved all of the different interactions that Professor Putricide had with his “sons.”

The other biggest one is “You face Jarraxus, Eredar Lord of the Burning Legion!” But that one had the song to help it lodge forever in my brain.

LOOKING FOR A SIGN OF ZUEL

Q for the Q: While I’m realising I’ve apparently stockpiled a few of them – what’s happening with Polished Pet Charms in the expac? Should I be trading them all in for level/rarity boosts instead? Or do we get to keep them for now?

Good news (I’ve fixed the poison slime pipes)! The plan seems to be that we’ll still be using the Polished Pet Charms that are available now from the mission table and pet battle daily quests. So feel free to stockpile away! The previous Shiny Pet Charms were used in Warlords of Draenor and Legion, so maybe they’ve decided that two expansions per pet charm flavor is the right amount of time. I bet for the average player that means they’ll come into Shadowlands with a nice little pile for buying a few of the special pets, or maybe one of the pet-related toys — without having enough to completely be done with the content at the jump.

RED CAN WAIT ONE NIGHT

How many Tools of the Trade did you acquire?

Two! I got the Leatherworking hammer that is a free Bloodlust and the Tailoring time-travel thread. I’m actually a little surprised that I managed to get a second one, I barely touch professions on my alts. My 2nd place character is my Demon Hunter and she’s just a gatherer so there’s nothing much to do there but collect flowers and pick up rocks. But it felt wrong to have a Mage who wasn’t a Tailor, so I stopped selling my cloth and got to work.

I liked the little quest chains for each of them. Not enough to go out and level more professions, but what I got was fun. I hope that we keep seeing interesting things like that come out of the system.

Here’s the poll that Red made if you haven’t answered yet.

MIKE BOGLE WOULD GIVE IT ALL AWAY

QftQ: What elements of Shadowlands are you most excited about? I desperately want to hear, because this is the first expansion ever that I have not been the slightest bit interested in. I plan on playing, of course, but the typical “OMG the expac is nearly here!” feeling is nowhere to be seen. I don’t like being deeply meh about it and am trying to find the spark

So much! There’s all the stuff with the Revendreth, I want to be the best Vampire Druid that I can be! I’m going to throw the most badass parties. There’s also getting my Legion Artifact power back with the Druid Legendary. I’ve missed Rage of the Sleeper very much. It’s like being Bear+ — you’re a bear, but somehow bearier.

Torghast is a big draw too, I just know that I’m going to spend too much time running around in those corridors.
