The Queue: The search for Chaddius

It’s grand theft Chaddius over here, but Team Blizzard Watch is on the case. We’re going to rebrand the site into Chaddius Watch and post wall-to-wall coverage of this tragedy. We’re going to post missing persons fliers all over Bastion. We’re going to put Chaddius’ face on milk cartons. We’re going to make sad tribute videos that force the world to take notice. We aren’t going to stop until this Steward is safely brought back home.

RJAGODA ASKED:

Q4tQ: What are you wearing? My lock has been using the Mage Tower appearance since I got it, because A) I like it, B) I’m lazy, and C) I worked hard for it.

As you can see above, I am rocking a mellow-hued Venthyr transmog. (I believe this is a Korthia color variant.) Venthyr have an excellent sense of style and great taste in gloves. However, I’m starting to feel like this transmog does not properly express my Paladin-ness. The relatively muted color palette lacks the golden glow of the light. It lacks the appropriate level of sparkle. (Sure, the sunglasses sparkle, but they can’t carry the whole outfit.)

Also my guild’s Warrior tank is way outclassing me on shininess levels, and as the only Paladin I feel like I need to step up.

So I am debating my next outfit, but haven’t come to any conclusions.

KELDEREK ASKED:

Q4tQ: Is it just me or is Zereth Morthis pretty but boring? It’s like Korthia (but prettier for sure) — Do your weeklies. Do your dailies. Pick up a WQ or 2 if there are any up. And then… run around and try to find new treasures you haven’t already grabbed? Find out you’re 5 seconds too late to get to the rare that’s up? I’m finding myself spending not a lot of time in SL these days, and it’s because there doesn’t seem to be that much to do. What am I missing?

I think what you’re calling “nothing to do” is an intentional design choice in which Blizzard doesn’t want anyone to feel pressured to play twenty hours a week or fall behind. You can hop online to Zereth Mortis and do a weekly, a couple of dailies, a couple of World Quests, and maybe figure out a puzzle or hunt around for rares and chests. You can probably do the daily quests and World Quests in a half hour, the weekly you’ll finish in two or three days if you just log on to do a couple of quests a day, and once a week there’s a new story quest that might take an hour.

But it’s meant to be this way. It’s designed to be easily digestible, and paced in a way that prevents people from getting too far ahead (or too far behind). The experience is also a bit undirected, with things like Pocopoc, who you can customize and dress up but doesn’t offer any real progression. Instead you just do it for fun. And sometimes doing things for fun is, well, fun. But if it’s not your kind of fun it can feel bland, uninteresting.

Personally, I enjoy ZM’s chill vibe, and the fact that I’m not buried under 50 things to do. I have a few things to do every day, but not too many things. And in the background there’s the new raid as well as a new affix in Mythic+.

Maybe we could have more rares, more treasures, more quests, more things to do. But this is an attempt to give us a little more breathing room, for better or worse.

USAGISENNIN SAID:

I bet the ending cinematic of SotFO is Chaddius coming up behind Zovaal and knifing him. The Jailer falls over and Chaddius puts one foot on his corpse stoically looking at the raid with a face that says “come get your loot.”

Maybe Chaddius was the hero we needed all along. He’s small, cute, and wears silly sunglasses, so it’s easy to underestimate him. But he’s also a Kyrian, and must know his duty as well as anyone.

With everyone else being ineffective, perhaps Chaddius finally decided to take matters into his own hands and finish the Jailer once and for all.

I’m here for that story.

SPENCER MORGAN ASKED:

Q4tLiz: how do you tuck a dog in?

This is really up to the dog. My dachshund Dianne liked burrowing under the covers to the foot of the bed all on her own — she didn’t need help, she decided where she wanted to go and went there. My basset Isabel always liked to curl up right next to you, finding a nice cozy spot by your side. Abby has a spot at the foot of the bed she always sleeps at (the lower left corner), even though she was never made to only sleep at the foot of the bed. She also doesn’t like being tucked under blankets and only tolerates it if it’s very cold.

So, really, the right way to tuck a dog in is the same right way to tuck anybody in: just the way they like to be tucked in.

RJAGODA ASKED:

How long before Liz shows up to beg ask for questions?

Nope, today I decided that there were enough questions here already.

For varying definitions of enough, perhaps, considering I took this as a question.

And that’s all for now, my friends. I hope you all have the very best of weekends, filled with pleasant naps with your pets, because any day with a nap in it is a pretty good day.

Take care of yourselves, everybody.

P.s. apparently Chaddius is not actually missing, it just hasn’t been his day off for him to chill by the lake.
