The Queue: Always wanting more Bloodborne

Today’s title is inspired both by our first question and the recent (and incredibly annoying) “Bloodborne Remastered” tweet that took off like fire, despite being completely fake. I generally hate those sorts of “jokes” — in which the end result is purely that a bunch of people will be disappointed after having been completely excited — but I digress. We’re here to Queue.

So let’s Queue.

ENO LEADS US INTO TODAY’S BIG TOPIC:

How should Bandai Namco follow up on Elden Ring? No story spoilers necessary, just wondering if we should get a sequel in a similar vein, or just another action Dark Souls game?

When in doubt, assume I want the next FromSoft game to be a Bloodborne sequel. I mean, I’ll happily play a remaster obsessively — but I want an actual sequel. The mechanics and world of that game were 100% me, and it’s not often you discover a new Favorite Game of All Time like I did with Bloodborne.

That said — and I’ve definitely thought about this — I don’t want it to be “Elden Ring but Bloodborne.” Elden Ring actually took Bloodborne’s Chalice Dungeon system (effectively, a randomized dungeon you could re-run given enough materials) and used similar for the dungeons throughout Elden Ring. But the effect, to me, was that the deluge of bosses in the game made some fights feel less special than others (or just plain tuned oddly).

Effectively, Elden Ring’s open-world approach diluted some of the impact seeing a boss room typically elicits in FromSoft games. I don’t want an open-world Bloodborne with dozens of bosses I can stomp in 30 seconds. I want an open-ish world with meaningful bosses. Save the smallfry  or repeat bosses for Chalice Dungeons.

ARTHONOS TAKES US IN A NEW DIRECTION… TWICE!

Where do you stand on the Lechonk vs Smoliv debate?

Any big summer games you excited to pick up, or nothing much until Splatoon 3?

They’re both amazing, but you can’t beat something literally named le chonk. It’s just too good.

I haven’t actually looked too closely at what’s coming out in summer, but you’re pretty accurate in assuming Splatoon 3 (Spla3n) is the big one on my list. Until then, I’ll probably still be catching up on the games I’m playing now lol.

LUOTIANX DIDN’T HAVE A QUESTION, BUT…

My poor BFF. She’s had the roughest life of anyone I know through no fault of her own, and she just recently found out her husband has MS. I’m so sad for her, and want to help but we live far apart now and I don’t know what I could do anyway.

I’m incredibly sorry to hear about this, and I know how rough it can be feeling helpless and miles away — but never underestimate the power of a video call or virtual game night. Sometimes — in fact, a lot of the time — “help” doesn’t have to be directly addressing a problem, especially ones that don’t have easy answers. Help can be talking, listening, reminiscing, gaming, etc. In other words, distractions and company can do wonders.

Of course, you know your friend best. Maybe they prefer to be alone in cases like this! But I hate to see you feeling helpless, especially because I’m sure you’re not giving yourself enough credit here <3

MYTHRIAK, THE NEW WHAT NOW?

Good morning! What about those new cinematics, eh? Is it still spoiler material?

I haven’t seen nor read up on them, and I’m doing my best to stay spoiler free until I experience it myself. That said, this is a Blizzard fan site. It’s fair game to talk Blizzard things in the comments, but (as always) be respectful and spoiler tag things (my go-to for the site is at least 1 week of tagging after something’s been discovered).

SJHAWK, I’M SORRY I CAN’T HELP MORE:

Sell Patch 9.2.5 to me (i haven’t logged in since the 9.2 arc finished)

I’ve barely played since 9.1 — sorry, everyone who keeps asking me WoW questions — but I imagine the best reason to come back to the patch would be to see some of the new, hidden story beats before they’re spoiled for you. It’s also a matter of what else you have to do and how burned out you’re feeling on the game.

Just because you log into 9.2.5 doesn’t mean you have to play for all of 9.2.5 (the same is true of any patch). If you’re not completely burned out on the game, play 9.2.5 because it’s new content and because new content is fun! And when the content stops being new, stop playing it. I know that’s a bit obvious of an answer, but hey, don’t overthink it. Play video games to have fun and don’t play them if you stop having fun.

GLOWING METEOR CARROT WANTS TO FORM A COALITION OF IMMORTALS:

Will there be a Queue Diablo guild?

I have no clue, but now’s your chance to make one! You only play Immortal with folks on your same server, though, so be sure to coordinate that in advance.

MUSEDMOOSE KEEPS US ON THE SUBJECT OF DI-ING:

Will you be playing Diablo Immortal starting today? If so, what class?

I’d actually intended to test it out a bit yesterday, but I didn’t realize 1) the game was so huge and 2) it would take days to back up my phone’s picture to the cloud. So right now, 19,000 images or videos are being uploaded to the cloud in order to free up 172GB of space on my phone. Apple finally won, and it was because of Blizzard.

GLOWING METEOR CARROT IS BACK WITH ANOTHER HARD-HITTING QUEUESTION:

Mareep or Wooloo?

After discovering Wooloo’s secret, I’ve never not loved Wooloo.

(Spoiler alert, but that video’s a bit spoopy. It’s very perfectly Mitch, however.)

That’s our Queue for today! Please leave lots of questions for tomorrow’s writer, and remember that even adorable sheep Pokémon hide dark secrets.
