The Queue: There came a time…

There came a time when the Old Gods died!

Man, all these years later and I still love Jack Kirby. Guy was a genius.

DRAKKENFYRE

I get up this morning and both cats are super-affectionate. I look at their food bowl, and it’s empty. Ah.

They’re affectionate anyway but when they’re REALLY affectionate, it’s because their bowl is empty.

I call this the Puck Effect. Both of the cats do it, of course, but Puck goes full on WHY HAVE YOU NEVER FED ME I STARVE I WILL DIE WHERE IS THE FOOD purr purr purr lick beard rub face on face THERE I HAVE PAID YOU A TOLL OF LOVE NOW FEED ME and I hate to admit it but it works on me every time.

MUSEDMOOSE

Q4tQ: is there a non-confrontational way to let people in dungeon runs know that the way they play is causing problems? Asking because the tank I had to deal with today kept saying “I’m gonna pull big” and ran through half a dozen groups of mobs, failing to realize that they weren’t actually holding aggro on them, which led to everyone else in the group getting killed at least twice.

I pointed this out and they didn’t say a thing, so I didn’t bring it up again because I didn’t want to start a fight. But when someone is doing their job wrong to the point that it’s making things go bad for everyone else, I feel like it’s important to speak up.

I mean, what you said shouldn’t be considered confrontational unless you were aggressive or vulgar about it. Saying “Hey, if you’re going to pull everything, make sure to get aggro on it because the healer is getting their face chewed off’ isn’t, or at least shouldn’t be, confrontational.

But I learned how to tank back in 2004/2005, when AoE threat generation was barely even a think and trash pulls often required a group to go back around a corner — look up ‘corner pulls’ if you’ve never heard of this — while I literally shot the mobs with an arrow and ran out of line of sight to get them to come to us. CC would be done as they came our way, and then we’d focus down one mob at a time.

I’m completely serious, btw.

One of the reasons I don’t really tank much now, besides the whole ‘going blind’ thing, is that I simply loathe the ‘go-g0-go’ style of tanking that’s evolved over the years. I like being careful and methodical as I tank, pulling exactly what I want to and making sure the healer and even the DPS have mana or other resources. It makes dungeons take longer, absolutely it does. But it avoids wipes, and a run with 0 wipes that is say five minutes longer than a run with six wipes? That’s a much better experience to me.

I get that I’m in the minority on this one, though, so it’s just easier for my blood pressure if I avoid tanking for anyone I don’t know.

So yeah. I think you handled it well, and that it shouldn’t be considered you being confrontational when you’re forced to ask the tank to actually do their job.

VALENCEMAGI

The two no-noses are Ultron.
There.
Now you can’t unsee it, either.

I didn’t realize that Nobundo has been planning to make an Adamantium body for himself this whole time. In the comics it’s not Vibranium, his creator even kills him once by hitting him with Antarctic Vibranium. Unlike Wakandan Vibranium, Antarctic Vibranium doesn’t absorb kinetic energy, it radiates it in the form of destructive vibrations that dissolve all metal around it.

Anyway, my point is, we’ve had dudes without noses in WoW for years now.

RED

I unironically hope that the fifth Old God is underneath the Darkmoon Faire

Y’all should be more worried about the coming of the New Gods.

Basically, the Titan Forged and the Old Gods are gonna kill each other and blow up Azeroth and the New Gods shall be born on the two new worlds created by said explosion. So get ready for that one.

Okay, that’s the Queue for today. Let’s go, patch 10.0.7 can’t get here fast enough.
