5 great decks to use for Marvel SNAP’s new Featured Location, Aunt May’s

Marvel SNAP rolled out the first Featured Location of its new Spider-Versus season, Aunt May’s, and we’ve made a tangled web of some awesome decks for you to try out there. Featured Locations, for those unaware, typically change over on Tuesdays and make a specific Location more likely to appear. They are usually worth some deck adjustments if you’re looking to win some matches.

Let’s take a look at some great deck lists to help you thwip to victory while Aunt May’s is the Featured Location, though all of these decks will work to your benefit whenever you encounter the Aunt May’s Location in the future.

What is the significance of Aunt May’s in Marvel lore?

Aunt May’s the home of Aunt May, the guardian of Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man. She is a constant in most versions of the Spider-Man story, and raises Peter after the tragic death of his Uncle Ben. She is a beloved supporting character whether in the movies or in the comics. But even fans of Spider-Man who have only seen the movies will know her, though the role seems to be cast to younger actress with each iteration of those story.

One of my favorite appearances of Aunt May’s came in the Ultimate Spider-Man TV series. During the episode “House Arrest”, a faulty S.H.I.E.L.D security systems (somehow installed without May knowing) attacks Spider-Man and his team. Their battle destroys the house. S.H.I.E.L.D quickly flies in and fabricates a brand new house just in time for May to return home.

Most will probably remember Aunt May’s from the critical role the house played during 2018’s Into the Spider-Verse movie. At a pivotal moment, the Spider-Men take refuge in the house. It turns out May is “something of a scientist” herself in this reality. After chiding Peter B for letting himself go, she even makes a costume for Miles Morales.

What’s the key to winning when Aunt May’s is up?

Aunt May’s Location acts as another activator for your movement based cards. Not only do you get the important move action, but Aunt May’s also buffs the card. Marvel SNAP has been trying to prop up the move archetype this season. Many of the cards and Locations serve that purpose. Whether it can make move a successful deck in the meta, especially as Lockdown seems to be growing in popularity, remains to be seen.

Aunt May’s will only buff and move the very first card you play there. Once you’ve played a card there, the effect won’t fire again. This limits the impact it can have on the game. You also can’t control which Locations Aunt May’s will move the card to. If you’re playing a move deck, that might not be a big problem as you’ve probably got other move cards, but if you’re not, it could put the card somewhere you really don’t want it.

Great decks to use on Aunt May’s

Standard move

This is your standard movement based deck. Vulture, Multiple Man, and Human Torch are the main cards you are looking to grow to competitive power.

Standard move with Ghost Spider

Deck code:

eyJOYW1lIjoiQm9vc3RlZCBNb3ZlIiwiQ2FyZHMiOlt7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6Ikh1bWFuVG9yY2gifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6Iklyb25GaXN0In0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJEYWdnZXIifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6Ikdob3N0U3BpZGVyIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJNdWx0aXBsZU1hbiJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiQ2xvYWsifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IkRvY3RvclN0cmFuZ2UifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IlZ1bHR1cmUifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IldhdmUifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6Ikh1bGtidXN0ZXIifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IkFlcm8ifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IkhlaW1kYWxsIn1dfQ==

Ghost Spider is the card you get if you purchase the season pass. This deck is very similar to the standard move deck but you get to use Ghost Spider as another activator.

Kingpin

Deck code:

eyJOYW1lIjoiQW50aS1NZXRhIEtpbmdwaW4gQ29udHJvbCAoR3VpZGUgaW4gRGVzY3JpcHRpb24pIiwiQ2FyZHMiOlt7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6Ikh1bWFuVG9yY2gifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IktyYXZlbiJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiR2hvc3RTcGlkZXIifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IkNsb2FrIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJKdWdnZXJuYXV0In0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJWdWx0dXJlIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJLaW5ncGluIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJQb2xhcmlzIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJNaWxlc01vcmFsZXMifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IlNwaWRlck1hbiJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiQWVybyJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiTWFnbmV0byJ9XX0=

This deck tries to setup a combo where you can activate Kingpin on turn six. Normally, once Kingpin hits the board, your opponent will try to fill the lane opposite to him to keep his effect from being used on turn six. But you have Cloak to move your Kingpin around as well as Juggernaut to deny the opponent the lane opposite Wilson Fisk.

High Evolution Move

Deck code:

eyJOYW1lIjoiSGlkZSBFVk9MVVRJT04iLCJDYXJkcyI6W3siQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiV2FzcCJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiSHVtYW5Ub3JjaCJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiSXJvbkZpc3QifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IkRhZ2dlciJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiR2hvc3RTcGlkZXIifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IkNsb2FrIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJEb2N0b3JTdHJhbmdlIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJKdWdnZXJuYXV0In0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJWdWx0dXJlIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJIaWdoRXZvbHV0aW9uYXJ5In0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJNaWxlc01vcmFsZXMifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6Ikh1bGsifV19

This deck has a move shell, but plays High Evolutionary for only one card: Evolved Hulk. Evolved Hulk is that powerful and can easily win a lane all by himself. Since this looks like a movement deck, playing Evolved Hulk on turn six will surprise your opponent, a key factor in winning those sweet four and eight cube games.

Surfer Move

Deck code:

eyJOYW1lIjoiU2lsdmVyTW92ZSIsIkNhcmRzIjpbeyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJJcm9uRmlzdCJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiS3JhdmVuIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJHaG9zdFNwaWRlciJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiQ2xvYWsifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IkJyb29kIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJTaWx2ZXJTdXJmZXIifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IkRvY3RvclN0cmFuZ2UifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6Ikp1Z2dlcm5hdXQifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IlZ1bHR1cmUifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IktpbmdwaW4ifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IlBvbGFyaXMifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6Ik1pbGVzTW9yYWxlcyJ9XX0=

Many of the best cards in the movement shell cost 3 Energy. Doctor Strange, Vulture, Polaris, Kingpin, and Juggernaut all fit. With all those move cards, Miles Morales is sure to activate and only cost one Energy. Move often needs a little point boost and Silver Surfer can do the job. The deck also runs one additional Surfer cards in Brood.

What are your ideas?

I’d love nothing more than to see move belong a viable archetype, but I’m not sure if Aunt May’s is going to be the thing that puts it over the top. Keep in mind that even as the Featured Location, there will still be matches that you don’t see Aunt May’s. This will make Peter sad, but you still have to make sure your deck is flexible enough that you don’t have to retreat if you don’t get Aunt May’s in your Location pool.

Whether Aunt May’s  is in your Location pool due to the event, one of the randomly chosen ones after the event, hopefully these decks and tips help you win!
