The Queue: No stopping Shiver

That’s right, #TeamVanilla won this past weekend’s Splatfest, and Shiver remains rightfully at the top — and well above — Big Man and Frye for overall wins. And if you don’t know what any of that means, I have good news for you: This is The Queue, and we’re about to answer some non-Splatoon-related questions.

So without further adueue, let’s a-Queue.

THOMAS STRANGE STARTS US OFF WITH A GOOD ONE:

A thought occurs. From a gameplay viewpoint, of course World of Warcraft needs villains and Old Gods and wars, etc. But from a logical lore perspective… why wouldn’t the Titans prefer Ulderoth, the Titan Utopia, as the timeline that must be preserved? Why is it a Rift that must be closed?

Why is our timeline, where the Legion invades, the Scourge happens, Sargeras stabs Azeroth, and Nozdormu ultimately becomes Murozond… why is this preferable to the Utopia?

This question is sending my mind in several directions, and I’m not sure I can decide on any of them. But in short, it could be a few things…

  • Different realities, different Titans. Our Titans would love to have succeeded but they didn’t and they’re focused on their own reality.
  • This is a backup in case things in our reality go bad (..worse?) and we’re closing the Rift so we don’t muck it up in the meantime. Or we just plain don’t deserve to move there, so we’re being forced to close it to keep it from being corrupted.
  • Everything we’ve been doing has actually been a long-con game to get our reality to open a portal to the perfect reality so our (much lazier) Titans can steal the other Titan’s perfect realm.

ALL THAT SAID… I asked one of our resident lore experts, Joe, for some help here, and he had a much better answer.

Effectively, despite Ulderoth being the perfect *Titan* reality, it might not be the perfect reality for the First Ones — and those are the folks who programmed the Titans to do what they’re doing. Joe also went into a bit of the “why” of it all (which I’ll poorly summarize as “evolution needed to fight Big Bad”), but he also seemed interested in potentially turning this into a Lore Watch episode soooo… keep an eye out for that (maybe).

ENO WANTS TO GET BACK ON TRACK:

QftQ:
So I started just doing the trading post stuff after getting to Valdrakken in the Dragonflight leveling story. I finished every quest in every zone, including the optional ones, for the most part (besides professions). I started just focusing on the trading post stuff for a while, but I might start doing the story again when I come back the next time. What or who exactly did I need to talk to in order to do that and go to the next zone?

I don’t have an exact, tested answer here, but typically the game’s Adventure Guide is not a bad start for getting you back on track with the campaign. Otherwise, look for the “campaign quest” indicator on your map for, well, campaign stuff.

If you mean all the side quests and whatnot, my best answer is to get an addon like btwquests which will help any completionist make sure they don’t miss a single quest chain in Dragonflight.

(Sorry if that didn’t entirely answer your question, but I hope the addon at least helps!)

MUSEDMOOSE KNOWS I LIKE TO LOOK GOOD:

Q4tQ: what transmog do you want that’s not currently available to your class?

I want two-handed swords for my mage. It would just look so damn cool to throw around fire with an enormous sword on my back. I don’t know why.

Well, thinking less big, my immediate answer is 1H swords, because there are a lot of cool Mage/Warlock caster swords with rad looks that I’d love to use over top my totally normal-sized daggers that aren’t basically already just swords themselves. (But then again, Priests get maces as a unique weapon mog for clothies, so I’m not TOO torn up over it.)

Going completely outside the realm of realistic, though, I think I’d love to just be able to transmog any and all shoulders to mine. Plate, leather, mail, cloth, whatever. Gimme those cool shoulders!

ARCUBALLIS, I UNFORTUNATELY DON’T HAVE AN ANSWER, BUT…

Anyone here familiar with the inner workings of SW:TOR? I haven’t played in ages but I got the sudden urge to log in and delete all my alts that never went anywhere so if I do get the urge to go back I can start mostly fresh. But I really need a bank alt of some sort because those alts have a lot of crap between them, and I am a pack rat who can’t throw anything away.

So what’s the best play here? Is there a guild bank situation I can use? I was never involved in any group content or even max level content so my knowledge is limited, and most of what I did know I’ve forgotten. But at least during all this time I’ve saved up a lot of cartel coins from having an authenticator attached to my account.

This isn’t my forte, by our own Ted Atchley is a big fan of SWTOR and may be able to help you out here! (Discord is probably the easiest place to connect.)

ARTHONOS IS READY TO GET PIK’D, MIN:

I wonder if the reviewer is right, and this will be the Pikmin game to finally get the attention it deserves. My copy is arriving Friday, but I love the series so it didn’t take much to entice me to buy.

I haven’t played any of other the other titles* but I’ve always loved how pretty the worlds look in Pikmin titles, and this one looks to be no exception there. I have a bajillion games in my backlog, and it sounds like a solid story mode (30 hours according to that vide), buuuuut… I might get it, because it’s pretty and I need dopamine.

*I rented the first from Blockbuster when it originally launched but it didn’t make sense to me and I haven’t tried the others, save for Pikmin Bloom which really isn’t anything like the others.

That’s our Queue for today! Please leave lots of questions for tomorrow’s writer, and I’ll see y’all when I see y’all!
