When is the WoW patch 11.0.1 release date?

Over the past year, content in World of Warcraft has released at a pace we simply have never seen before Dragonflight. Not only are patches rolling out faster, they’re also being put out at a more consistent pace. With the 2023 release roadmap in our rearview mirror — and in retrospect, the roadmap was been near perfect in terms of its accuracy — we’re now looking at the 2024 roadmap, and considering position of patch 11.0.1, The War Within pre-patch.

While Blizzard hasn’t announced a specific date for The War Within, this is our prediction for The War Within release date.

The War Within pre-patch sits at the crown of the year

Dragonflight patch 10.2.5, Seeds of Renewal, launched on January 16, heading up the slate of releases for 2024. Next up is patch 10.2.6 — which the roadmap represents with a black flag of the type usually associated with pirates — which will likely line up for a March 2024 release, just before Dragonflight Season 4. That would mean that patch 10.2.7, Dark Heart, most likely to arrive in May 2024. That follows the patch spacing Blizzard has kept to throughout Dragonflight.

Our next potential landmark on the 2024 roadmap is patch 11.0.5, which will include the World of Warcraft 20th anniversary event. Since the anniversary is in November, patch 11.0.5 will be released by November 2024.

Now let’s review: patch 10.2.7 in May 2024 and patch 11.0.5 in November 2024 gives us a window for when patch 11.0.1, the War Within pre-patch, will launch. If things roll out on schedule, we’ll likely see patch 11.0.1 in July, followed by War Within in August since the pre-patch period usually lasts a month or so. That leaves two months before the first War Within patch, 11.0.5, getting it out before the World of Warcraft anniversary arrives in November 2024.

Based on this, we estimate the patch 11.0.1 patch release date will be July 16, 2024, giving us about a month of time to play the War Within pre-patch content before the expansion launches late summer. We’ll see you there.
