Diablo 3 Season 31 starts on April 12, bringing back the Forbidden Archives theme (or Kanai’s Cube-o-Rama)

Diablo 3‘s Season 30 is currently in progress, with players enjoying the return of the Altar of Rites and Visions of Enmity to the game, on top of the first repeated theme: the Lords of Hell, which debuted in Season 25. And yet, there’s the inevitable question: when can we expect the next Diablo 3 Season? Diablo 3 Season 31 will start Friday, April 12, 2024 at 5 pm PDT/CET/KST.

Season 30 launched on January 12, 2024, so an April 12 start date for Season 31 puts it right at the three-month seasonal cadence that the Diablo 3 team announced when the game was winding down into maintenance mode. We can expect future seasons to continue like this, every three months, bringing an old seasonal theme back to the game.

Season 31 will be Season of the Forbidden Archives, bringing back the Season 20 theme that we lovingly dubbed Kanai’s Cube-o-Rama. For the season, you’ll be able to apply Kanai’s Cube Legendary powers to any slot. Normally, Kanai’s Cube allows you to equip three extra Legendary powers: one each in the weapon, armor, and jewelry category. During Season 31, you’ll be able to equip Kanai’s Cube powers in any combination you like, so you can run wild with three weapon powers or three jewelry powers.

Season 31 will also still have the Altar of Rites and Visions of Enmity, which were first introduced to the game in Season 28 and Season 29, respectively. Moving forward, both themes are in the game permanently, along with a rotating theme from the game’s past. But even though the theme is a repeat, Season 31 has some new rewards: in addition to returning rewards from Season 7, Season 31 adds the brand new Valor Portrait Frame and Angelic Treasure Goblin pet. So there are still reasons to play, even if you’ve played the theme before.

But for now, enjoy playing with the Lords of Hell theme in Season 30, because it will be gone soon. We’ll see you in the next season, starting Friday, April 12, 2024.
