How to run Bountiful Delves for better rewards
Delves are a new feature that was introduced with The War Within. Delves are a solo or small group challenge content mode with multiple difficulty levels, and each Delve has a set of affixes. Unlike Mythic Plus, Delve affixes are based on the theme of the dungeon rather than a rotating weekly set common across all Delves. As you increase the difficulty level of the Delves, the strength of the affixes will increase.
There are two additional affixes that can be applied to any Delve independent to the theme:
- at level 4 of higher an additional affix called Zekvir’s Influence will be added,
- Bountiful is also an Affix that can be applied to a Delve.
After completing the first two endgame Campaign chapters, you will be directed to head over to Brann Bronzebeard in Dornogal and he will give you a quest called Bountiful Delves to introduce you to this new endgame progression mode.
What are Bountiful Delves?
One of the attributes of a Bountiful Delve is, when you get to the Treasure Room at the end of the Delve, there will be an additional chest called a Bountiful Coffer that will contain a piece of gear, a Radiant Echo, additional The War Within faction currency, and a chance of a new or upgraded curio.
The item level and quality of the equipment that drops will depend on the level of Delve being run:
- Tier 4 Bountiful Delve: Item Level 577 – 4/8 Adventurer
- Tier 5 Bountiful Delve: Item Level 584 – 5/8 Veteran
- Tier 6 Bountiful Delve: Item Level 590 – 6/8 Veteran
- Tier 7 Bountiful Delve: Item Level 597 – 7/8 Champion
- Tier 8+ Bountiful Delve: Item Level 603 – 8/8 Champion
The maximum rewards drop for Level 8 Delves — higher level Delves don’t drop increase rewards but have achievements associated with them, and are a means of challenging yourself.
Where do I find Bountiful Delves?
Bountiful Delves are only available on Level 80 characters. If you look on your world map you will see icons showing where Delves are located. Bountiful Delves have a different, brighter icon, with a glowing portal in the center of the icon. They will also show up on your minimap when you are in range of one.
When you are at the entrance of a Delve with a Bountiful affix, the fog curtain will also have a golden glow, and when you are presented with the popup dialog box to select the difficulty level, it will show the Bountiful affix.
How often are Bountiful Delves available?
Bountiful Delves are in rotation on the world map. There seems to be one Delve with the Bountiful affix in each zone each day. If you mouse over the Delve icon it will tell you how much time the Bountiful affix has remaining.
You don’t need to have a key in your inventory in order for Bountiful Delves to show up.
How do I get Restored Coffer Keys to open Bountiful Coffers?
In order to open a Bountiful Coffer, you will need a Restored Coffer Key. There are multiple ways to get keys, note that the item is tagged as “Unique” but when you loot one it is converted to a currency item, there does not appear to be a cap on the number you can hold.
Sources of Restored Coffer Keys:
- World quests, some outdoor events, and Radiant Echoes can have the opportunity to reward Coffer Key Shards – combine 100 of these shards to create a Restored Coffer Key.
- You can earn up to 4 keys for the first four World Events you complete each week. The World Events include:
- Theatre Troupe, Isle of Dorn
- Awakening the Machine, The Ringing Deeps
- Spreading the Light, Hallowfall
- Worldsoul Memories – require a Radiant Echo to trigger
- Hallowfall Fishing Derby
- A Renown reward for Council of Dornogal (L16), Assembly of the Deeps (L13), Hallowfall Arathi (L14), and The Severed Threads (L13).
- Purchased from Sir Finley Mrrgglton for the hefty price of 2,000 Undercoin.
Once you have a key, scoot your way over to a Delve with the Bountiful affix and complete the Delve as normal at the highest difficulty level you feel most comfortable doing so. Loot the Bountiful Coffer at the end and win!
Are Bountiful Delves worth doing if I don’t have a Restored Coffer Key?
If you enter and complete a Bountiful Delve, it ‘consumes’ the Bountiful affix even if you don’t have a Restored Coffer Key in your inventory. There is a very good chance that you will see more opportunities to run Bountiful Delves each week than you will have Restored Coffer Keys.
Completing a normal Delve will reward 2 Heavy Trunks (green item) and a number of small piles of gold. Completing a Bountiful Delve, even with no key, replaces those rewards with two Bountiful Heavy Trunks (blue item) and 1-2 more small piles of gold. The Bountiful Heavy Trunks seem to have the same loot tables but contain more items.
They also give reputation gains for your Delving companion — Brann Bronzebeard for this season.
