The play (and the loot) is the thing at the Proscenium — how to complete the Theater Troupe world event
With the way that the Earthen on the Isle of Dorn portray themselves as efficiency-maximizing task machines, one might think that they don’t have much in the way of culture. Well, one would be wrong! Just southeast of their capital of Dornogal, one can find the Proscenium, a beautiful amphitheater where Earthen thespians put on various shows every hour, on the hour. But why would we, as bloody-handed adventurers, care about such things? It’s a fair question! The answer, as it so often is here in the World of Warcraft, is loot.
The Proscenium is a new outdoor event in The War Within that players can complete as often as they like, and which rewards bonus loot once a week. If you participated in the Researchers Under Fire or Superbloom events during Dragonflight, or the Star Lake Ampitheater in Shadowlands, the Proscenium will feel very familiar. It’s an event that takes place over multiple timed stages, and participating players are given tasks to perform in each stage. In the first five minutes of the event, you’re tasked with preparing the theater for the show, doing things like repainting set pieces or slaughtering flying Nerubians who are blocking views of the stage. After that, players become part of the show itself, donning costumes and helping act out the various scenes of the play. It’s kind of neat, actually.
Every task you successfully complete gains you the approval of the audience, and with that come greater rewards in the form of caches in escalating quality. These actor’s caches can be earned every time you participate in the event, but the rewards are relatively small: a handful of gold, some Resonance Crystals, and a chance at some Weathered Harbinger Crests. The real rewards come once a week, at least after you help clean up the theater a bit. The weekly quest The Theater Troupe rewards a cache of the variety that you can get from other various outdoor activities in Khaz Algar; your first two each week will contain a piece of Adventurer-tier gear and your first four will have a Restored Coffer Key, on top of gold, Valorstones, and some Carved Harbinger Crests.
Personally, I like this event. The rewards are nice, it doesn’t involve as much running after sleepy trees as the Superbloom, and it brings a little culture to the Earthen civilization. It also feels like it has more variety; there are a number of different plays that can be performed, and while I’ve only done the event a few times thus far, I have yet to get any repeats. How do you feel about this new outdoor event? Sound off in the comments with your impressions!
