Here’s how Hunters can tame Aradan, the mighty Stormrook
Eagle-eyed players have figured out how to tame Aradan, the rare Stormrook Hunter pet that matches the Algarian Stormrider mount. While the discovery of the method to tame this zappy bird took some time, the actual taming process is quick and easy. Aradan can be found inside The Rookery dungeon on any difficulty (including Follower mode), flying in circles on the northern side of the island.
In order to interact with Aradan, you’ll need to gain his trust. He’s labeled in-game as a Mourning Stormrook, so it’s a good bet that he’s distressed because he’s lost his Stormrider. Players on the World of Warcraft secret-finding Discord had recognized Aradan as tameable last week, and a blue post confirmed that there wasn’t anything preventing players from adding the Stormrook to their stables.
The secret-finding community spent a few days looking for clues, and a player named waiting4paul was the first to find the item that holds the secret to coaxing Aradan into taming range. Diving under the waves just to the northwest of Storm’s Watch on the Isle of Dorn world map, you’ll find a Void-Scarred Stormhammer lying on the seafloor. This was presumably wielded by the late Stormrider partner of Aradan. With the hammer in hand, you’re ready to head to The Rookery.
After defeating the first boss, Kyrioss, players jump down the central shaft of the Storm’s Watch tower. Instead of proceeding right towards Stormguard Gorren, take a left and head up a flight of stairs to the small outdoor area where Aradan is flying his restless loops. Using the Void-Scarred Stormhammer brings your feathery new friend in for a landing, and taming the electrified beast is trivial for Beast Mastery Hunters.
The whole process took me about ten stress-free minutes, and now I’ve got a lightning bird battle buddy. There are five versions of Aradan with slight variations in his beak, tail, and head plumage. You can use the Void-Scarred Hammer as many times as you’d like until your chosen look spawns — or collect all five if you don’t mind a stable floor full of static-charged feathers.
