What are Tenets of Akarat in Diablo 4’s Vessel of Hatred?
Diablo 4, Vessel of Hatred brings us the mysterious new zone Nahantu, a strange land filled with new creatures and eerie architecture. Hidden around the jungles and plains are a number of defiled shrines that were dedicated to the legendary Akarat, a deity to the people of Nahantu.
Here are some of the things we’ve discovered about the Tenets, including the rewards for finding them.
Each defiled shrine has a simple puzzle to solve. The puzzle types we found were:
- Kill the vines that are wrapping the defined shrine to reveal the Tenet of Akarat below.
- Interact with and light up the single Lion statue nearby, and then kill the spirits that spawn to cause the vines to recede.
- Interact with all three of the nearby statues before the timer runs out so they are all lit at the same time, each time you click a lion statue one vine will unwind. If you fail to light them all quickly enough, the vines curl back around the shrine and the lights go out.
- Interact with all three of the nearby statues to light them up in the correct order, if you get the order wrong they will turn back off again. Getting the order correct will cause the vines to unravel.
- Interact with the statues to find out which one or two need to be lit up, getting the combination correct will cause the vines to recede.
Unlike the similar Statues of Lilith, these Tenets do not give a character buff. They will display a short aphorism, quoting the wisdom of Akarat, and light up once activated. The Tenets of Akarat also contribute to the Nahantu zone renown.
There are 30 Tenets of Akarat scattered around the zone. If you collect all thirty Tenets throughout Nahantu, you get an achievement which also rewards you with a mount called the Nahantu Lion — a dusty-colored lion to carry you through the jungle. Note that some Tenets will be inaccessible until you complete a side quest granting access to that sub zone.
