Rockstar rides again, with two Red Dead franchise offerings headlining the games we’re watching this week
Hello and happy Friday, Watchers! We’re now past Spooky Season into the lead-up into the Holidays. That said, this week has been a fairly light week for brand new releases, so I’m gonna tap into some sales and bring up an old favorite is now on PC.
Release of the Week: Mario & Luigi: Brothership
tl;dr – first console Mario & Luigi title, lighthearted RPG
The Mario & Luigi series has been Nintendo’s lighthearted roleplaying series on Nintendo handhelds since the early 2000s, but Brothership is the first title not only in the last 9 years, but also on their mainline console. Brothership is a lighthearted take on the roleplaying genre, where the plumber brothers are teleported to the land of Concordia and are tasked to reconnected the fractured islands of the land to make things whole again. Use Luigi’s logic and Mario’s bravery to solve puzzles, defeat bosses, and reform Concordia.

Release of the Week 2: Red Dead Redemption
tl;dr – PC release of classic Rockstar Games title, DLC included
Fans of the Red Dead series have been begging Rockstar Games to release the 2010 action-adventure title on PC since, well, it came out on console. Rockstar has finally listened and has ported the title over and included the DLC along with it. Red Dead Redemption has you playing as former outlaw John Marston, charged by Bureau of Investigation agents to hunt down his former gang members in order to get his kidnapped family back. Of course, this task wont be easy, and John finds himself having to decide what’s right and wrong on his quest for redemption.

Deal of the Week: Red Dead Redemption 2: Ultimate Edition
tl;dr – prequel to Red Dead Redemption, currently on huge sale
Red Dead Redemption 2 is the prequel to Red Dead Redemption, taking place in 1899 and following outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang, who are dealing with the decline of the wilderness of the Wild West as civilization pushes westward. Civilization becoming normal means that the era of the outlaw is coming to an end, and our band of outlaws must try to find a way to prepare for the future that’s quickly coming towards them. Rob banks, deal with the Pinkertons, and have shootouts in the city square in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Deal of the Week 2: Marvel’s Midnight Suns
tl;dr – superhero tactical roleplaying game, card battle system
Marvel’s Midnight Suns did something no Marvel game has done yet: lets you create your own character. You play as Hunter, a character who you get to personalize the appearance of, as they interact with members of The Avengers, the X-Men, the Runaways and others while attempting to stop the demonic forces of Lilith who threatens to take over Earth for her god, Chthon. Use tactical card based combat as you fight through enemies with heroes like Doctor Strange, Ghost Rider, Blade and Captain Marvel in combat that feels like a more lightly tuned X-Com (probably due to it being made by the same studio).
Get Marvel’s Midnight Suns for $10 on PC at Epic Games.
