Whether you’re stuffed with turkey or just trying to keep warm this weekend, here’s our game suggestions!
This weekend it’s Thanksgiving here in the United States, and thus we are stuffed with turkey and mashed potatoes plus all of the accoutrements — yes, all of them. Yet, turkey comas aside, it’s also Black Friday weekend, meaning there’s a lot of great deals to be had! It’s also my birthday this weekend, so you’re getting Chris’s top 4 picks of what you should buy (without trying to repeat titles I’ve suggested over the last few months).
TUNIC
TUNIC brings us back to the time when games were mysterious, back to when we sat and played The Legend of Zelda for the Nintendo for the first time. An isometric top down action game, TUNIC has you playing as a fox who is searching for a great treasure; the catch being that you’re left to your own devices figuring out what to do next, and the in-game Instruction Manual is written in a strange language you piece together as time goes on. If you wished Zelda was less hand-holding and more “survive and figure out the world” like a 2.5D Souls game, TUNIC might be right up your alley!

Nine Sols
Nine Sols has been considered the 2D equivalent of Sekiro, and they are not entirely wrong about that — but don’t let that fool you, it definitely has a personality of its own. In Nine Sols you play as Yi, the forgotten hero who is awakened by a human child and sent on a quest to get vengeance against the titular 9 Sols, the rulers of the forsaken realm. Platform, fight and parry your way across this beautifully crafted, richly detailed world (as a cat samurai!) in this adventure title.

Final Fantasy 16
Highly anticipated, Final Fantasy 16 is a spectacle to behold – both gorgeous and somehow charming, you play as Clive Rosfield, the “First Shield of Rosaria” sworn to protect his kingdom and his little brother Joshua, the Dominant of the Phoenix. In the world of Final Fantasy 16, giant elemental summons are known as Eikons and are wielded by people born with the power to harness them known as Dominants; yet not all kingdoms treat their Dominants the same, and a war is brewing on the horizon. Final Fantasy 16 is yet another action RPG by Square Enix (a trend that started back with Final Fantasy 12 and has continued onward) with an amazing english voice cast (Ralph Fiennes!) and some truly has-to-be-seen boss fights.

Rabbit and Steel
Now, we here at Blizzard Watch are primarily World of Warcraft players, and many of us raid together — so it should come as no surprise when I say we enjoy raiding and the insanity it can bring sometimes (I kinda expect an editor’s note here telling me I’m wrong, but I digress)! Rabbit and Steel is a 2D co-op roguelike where you pick a bunny person of a specific class and then you fight some raid bosses. Dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge your way out of boss mechanics, make sure you stack with your friends, and then drop the spread mechanic on your friends because how dare they roll on that staff when they don’t even need it.
