When is the Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland event for 2024?
When the year draws to a close and you’re feeling stuffed to the gills with cookies, it means that Winter Wonderland is about to arrive in Overwatch 2. That’s right, it will be the final event for 2024 in Blizzard’s team shooter. If you’ve got visions of sugar plums dancing in your head and you want to get into the holiday spirit early, mark your calendars now. Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland will run from December 10 through January 6.
As usual, there will be event challenges based on playing normal and/or limited time Arcade modes during the Winter Wonderland. We’ll be treated to the usual roster of Mei modes, so prepare yourself to hear a lot of “Sorry…sorry…” and “A-MEI-zing!” voice lines. Team up and hunt the Yeti, or snowball fight in festive fashion. We’re also able to earn the Winter Casual Hanzo skin, a cozy gift for the discerning Overwatch 2 player.
You may also notice that this runs in concert with the trial of 6v6 mode, which is slated to begin December 17. Having both modes at once seems like either an embarrassment of riches, or an impossible choice, depending on how much time you have to play on a regular basis. On the bright side, it’s likely games played in 6v6 will also count toward completion of Winter Wonderland goals, like playing or winning a certain number of matches. In order to earn the Hanzo skin, you just need to complete eight matches — with wins counting double — so if you’ll be able to hit two Yetis with one snowball, as the saying goes.
While it’s bound to be a chilling good time, as always, these events won’t stick around forever. Both the 6v6 trial event and Winter Wonderland are going to end the same day — January 6, also Three Kings Day or Twelfth Night (or what you will). It’s a perfect day to pack up all your holiday decor and put it away until you can enjoy it again next year.
