This week in gaming we bring you the Legacy of Kain, the legacy of Dr. Jones, and holiday sales

Hello and happy Friday, Watchers. We’ve started that slow, glacial move into the depths of winter, and that means things are slowing down on the game release front — however, the sales are about to start again. This week we have a remake of an old title, a brand new title from a popular movie franchise, and some awesome sales to talk about.

Let’s get into it.

New Release: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

Do I really need to tell you who Indiana Jones is? In The Great Circle, you play as Junior — I mean, Doctor Indiana Jones — traveling between Marshall College, the Vatican, the pyramids of Egypt, the sunken temples of Sukhothai, and elsewhere in an attempt to locate a mysterious artifact that’s been stolen. Punch Nazis, whip bad guys, discover secrets, and make quips as you ask the real questions. For instance, “why does it always have to be snakes?” Classic.

Get Indiana Jones and the Great Circle starting at $70 for the Standard Edition on Steam or Xbox (or play for free on Xbox GamePass).

New Release: Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered

It’s been 25 years since The Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver released for PlayStation, and we’re finally getting a remaster of both the first and second title for the anniversary! You play as Raziel, a vampire-turned-wraith when turned on by his commander, the vampire Kain. Though you should have died, The Elder God brings you back to life with a mission of revenge. Legacy of Kain are action titles, but you split between the real world and the spirit world to solve puzzles and get around the map. If the name Amy Hennig (of Uncharted and Jax and Dexter fame) excites you, know she was the writer and producer on this title when working at Crystal Dynamics.

Get Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered for $30 on Steam, Xbox, and Playstation.

New Sale: Dragon Age Franchise Sale

It probably comes as no surprise that Dragon Age is a fan favorite amongst the writers here at Blizzard Watch. We’ve all been pretty neck deep within The Veilguard since its release, but we keep getting asked if you need knowledge of the previous titles to play Veilguard (short answer: you don’t, but it helps). Well, from now until December 19, you can get all of the Dragon Age titles on sale for a pretty good price. Start your adventure as a Grey Warden in Dragon Age: Origins (a tactical RPG, think Baldur’s Gate 3… but know it’s 14 years old), then become the Champion of Kirkwall in Dragon Age II (an action title), before you form the Inquisition in Dragon Age: Inquisition. Managed to burn through all the previous games and want the new hotness? Dragon Age: The Veilguard is also on sale.

Get Dragon Age: Origins – Ultimate Edition for $4.50 (85% off), Dragon Age II – Ultimate Edition for $4.50 (85% off), Dragon Age: Inquisition Game of the Year Edition for $5 (85% off), and Dragon Age: The Veilguard for $39 (35% off) at Steam. These games are also deeply discounted on Xbox and Playstation.

New Sale: Epic Games 2024 Winter Sale — and Giveaway

Epic Games has started their holiday sale which will run from December 12 – January 9. While we tend to be biased toward the Steam client, Epic does have some offerings that are either cheaper than Steam at times, or just exclusive to that platform. This is the best time to explore the competition, because Epic is once again having a huge holiday giveaway.

Starting December 19, Epic shall be adding a new free game to claim every day — but only for that day. If the past is any indication, some of these titles will be pretty big and pretty new. In our estimation, almost any free game is worth picking up and giving a whirl for a day before something else — maybe better — hits the store. Unfortunately, unlike last year, the wrapping paper covering each gift isn’t unique, so you won’t be able to guess what tomorrow’s present might hold. They’re also giving away some cosmetics, like this horrifying whatever this is for the off-the-wall shooter Rawmen.

Grab some free games and get some new titles on sale over at Epic Games.
