The best transmog weapons to go along with the Plunderstorm’s Stormridden Finery

The latest season of Plunderstorm has hoisted the mainsail and coasted off into the sunset, leaving us with nothing but all of the sweet rewards we’ve been able to earn. Hopefully you’ve accumulated enough Plunder to purchase the prizes you picked out (or, if you’re of my mindset, absolutely everything).

One of the options available from the Plunderstore with true staying power is the Plunderlord’s Stormridden Finery. While it is the third pirate ensemble in one year to share an in-game model (after last year’s red-and-gold look and a Trading Post yellow/brown/green getup), the newest black and silver pirate duds with deep purple highlights is going to be relevant for our pursuit of the very void-y Xal’atath for the rest of this expansion, our next adventure Midnight, and possibly beyond.

While you’re very likely to have coughed up the coin for this ensemble if you’re a fan of transmogrification, you may have been a little less-than-blown-away by this year’s options for weapons. The good news is that there’s a whole universe of silvery-purple weapons to choose from so that your entire Warband doesn’t have to wield the same rapier. The possibilities are limitless, but here are my picks for a handful of fashionable blades, bows, and other miscellaneous bonking implements to accessorize your void pirate look properly.

Here are our suggestions for weapons to go with your brand new Plunderstorm set, now that the event has wrapped up.

Go big or go home

For the casters out there, Voidsong, Stave of Harbinger complements the magenta accents very nicely, and the menacing sharp edges give the wielder an air of danger. This was part of the Cosmic Weapons Cache that was rewarded for completing the Trading Post monthly activities in November 2023, so if you didn’t get it then you’ll have to go with an alternate stave. I also like the Melodious Iron Songspire and Anzu’s Stoicism which are still available in-game.

My pick for a two-hander is Dunesplitter, a perfectly colored greatsword with just the right amount of wear and tear on the blade to pass you off as an experienced buccaneer (even if you just rolled your first Ret Paladin). It’s a quest reward from the Legacy of Tyr dungeon so you’ll have no problem picking it up. There were quite a few on my honorable mention list, but I ultimately chose something simpler instead of an outlandish weapon like Screaming Tiger, Qiang’s Unbreakable Polearm or Armageddon.

The Felforged Aegis caught my eye immediately when it dropped on my Hellfire Citadel transmog run this week, and it pairs very nicely with a Bloodblade of Teron’gor. For something a little more visceral you can try a Koloch Na, the Blood Feast or a Morningstar of Heroic Will. I knew I would never get through this whole article based on purple transmog without including a weapon from heroic Dragon Soul.

Don’t overlook the details

I think I have more daggers than any other type of weapon in my transmog wardrobe, so I spent a long time deliberating before landing on dual Stillpine Family Letter Openers for my Rogue. You can pick that up on Bloodmyst Isle if you’ve never leveled a Draenei before. If you’re looking for a more natural look, the Faesworn Spellblade looks good. You can also go with a simple Pearly White Jackknife to keep yourself looking like a respectable pirate.

On my Shaman, I couldn’t resist popping on two Barbthorn Queen’s Stingers. Surely there’s no better look for a brawling pirate who has lost their hands only to replace them with little swords. It even looks like you’d be able to hide some dwarven refreshments in there. You’ll have to do some farming in Drustvar if you also want to take on the appearance of a blade-handed bandit of the high seas. Coming in at a close second was the Demonblade Eviscerator, which you can don if you’re going for a void-crazed appearance for your melee swashbuckler.

Finally there are bows and guns, which any self-respecting pirate surely has some skill in. I was very pleased with the Ironfeather Longbow and how it complements both the colors and the feathery flair of the Plunderlord’s finery. You can pick one up through a quest in the Well of Eternity dungeon inside the Caverns of Time. For a gun I went with a simple Scarab Blaster, but if you feel the need to up the firepower you can always equip a Vlaros Corps Rifle.

With eleven expansions’ worth of weapons, there’s surely something for every swabbie out there who appreciates a look-completing weapon to go along with the newest set of threads. Which armament did you choose to go along with your Plunderlord’s Stormridden Finery?
