WoW Classic Season of Discovery Phase 8 starts April 8, with the Scarlet Enclave to follow!

World of Warcraft Classic’s Season of Discovery Phase 8 is launching on April 8, 2025! There isn’t an attached release time but there is probably going to be some downtime where the servers are offline, so it will probably launch between 1PM pacific and 3PM pacific. Then on April 10, 2025, the Scarlet Enclave raid will launch at 1PM pacific time.
We recently learned about Phase 8 when Senior Game Producer Josh “Aggrend” Greenfield revealed the WoW Classic team was working on more Season of Discovery content in a detailed comment on the YouTube video of a WoW Classic content creator. As unconventional as announcements go, Aggrend also dives into some of the plans for this phase and the future of Season of Discovery, explaining that the team plans to keep the servers active for the foreseeable future to allow people to play without worry of a concrete end date.
Now that we have more information about Phase 8, let’s take a look at what it will bring to Season of Discovery.
What’s in Season of Discovery Phase 8?
- April 8
- New Avalon area
- “Outdoor” Content
- Scarlet Enclave-related quest content
- April 10
- Scarlet Enclave raid
- Legendary weapon questline
Phase 8 will stagger its release between open world content and the raid release.”Outdoor” content sounds like another way to say PVE content, though for Phase 8 it is probably localized to the Scarlet Enclave area of the Eastern Plaguelands, which was also the name of the Death Knight starting zone from Wrath of the Lich King that included Tyr’s Hand, New Avalon, and Havenshire. Tyr’s Hand is already accessible but on April 8, players will be able to go in to New Avalon for new rewards, including recipes, but it looks like they’ll need to don disguises first.
On April 10, the Scarlet Enclave raid will go live and feature 8 bosses as well as new class armor sets as rewards. The raid takes place in Tyr’s Hand and even though we don’t know where the entrance is, though the PTR has some blocked off areas that indicate it is the main cathedral. It’s a good bet that you’ll also need to do an attunement quest before you can jump in. Speaking of quests, on April 10 Hunters, Paladin, and Warriors will be able to begin an “epic quest to restore a fallen weapon” and while it isn’t confirmed, a good amount of datamined information from the PTR points to this weapon being the Ashbringer.
Like other Season of Discovery phases, there’s probably more that we’ll learn about after Phase 8 launches so we’ll keep you up to date as we learn more new information about this latest phase.
