The Queue: Out of this world

Sometimes you just see something and need to make sure lots of other people see it. I don’t play a lot of Hearthstone anymore, so I totally missed this card when it hit the game recently — and if I missed it, chances are you missed it too! So here I am saving the day and making sure that you see how much of a good boy Arfus is going for his space walk.
While I get him a big box of astronaut dog treats, it’s time for — The Queue.
Q4tQ:
Why are there rows of sleeping Sand Devils in the Caverns of Time?
It’s a union-mandated break from being coarse and irritating and getting everywhere.
I’ve been ordering things for my sons Star Wars birthday party and was surprised (don’t know why but I was) to find they make Darth Vader, Yoda, and Storm Trooper ring pops. Of course, I bought those and the blow-up colored light sabers for the guest bags. The ring pops showed up and when my son saw them, he was amazed but said I hope Yoda isn’t lime. ; P
Since it’s May the 4th, for fun, what flavors would you make the 3 ring pops (black, green, white)?
Darth Vader would be Cherry Cola. You get the dark color from his whole look, and then the hit of cherry is his lightsaber.
Yoda is a prime candidate for a lime flavor since he’s so sour, but that could also be a green apple flavor. I would also understand a melon flavor, but I wouldn’t love it.
Stormtroopers would be bananas. Nobody would see it coming, and it’s kind of a miss — which for Stormtroopers is right on brand!
Q4TQ: why does reheated leftover pizza taste better than pizza that’s just been delivered to you? What’s the science behind that (if any)?
It’s definitely got some sort of legitimate reason behind it, but I think it’s all in your head.
Here are the factors that make leftover pizza better.
- You’ve already paid for it, so it’s a free meal.
- You don’t have to do much more than pop it in your oven/air fryer/microwave and it’ll be ready to eat within five minutes, so it’s a fast meal.
- You already know you liked it the night before, so it’s a known quantity.
- You’ve already tried the base version of that pizza; maybe you can put extra cheese or pepper flakes on it to give that pizza a little more pizzazz.
Q4tQ: What sort of gaming crossovers would you love to see?
I’m still playing Fall Guys, and there is so much room in it for lots of gaming crossovers! They’ve already had oodles of pop culture movie tie-ins, and once a whole Final Fantasy 14-themed battle pass. So, where is our Warcraft one? Why am I stuck being legally distinct Illidan instead of actual Illidan?! Why can’t I watch Thrall and Jaina clumsily hit each other with rubber chickens?! They’d be perfect together.
I like when we see franchise crossovers in games without a lot of story. That’s why it’s always been so weird to see things like the Berserk stuff showing up in Diablo 4. The two properties do seem to have roughly the same vibe, and it’s not going to take me out of the world so much to see a guy walk by with that big old sword — but it’s still not really something I feel like Diablo needs. Just like Destiny doesn’t need the Ghostbusters in it.
Overwatch getting stuff is fine, the narrative dissonance isn’t there. I don’t mind seeing Optimus Prime Reinhardt in my starting area.
Is there anything you folks like about WoW?
How much time you got?
In no particular order (well other than bears):
- Bears!
- Werebears!
- Old Gods
- Dinosaurs
- Those wacky Goblins
- Deathwing
- Sylvanas
- Those wacky Pandas
- Hopping in circles in a major city, just bantering with friends, waiting to get into a dungeon
- The feeling of finally getting that rare drop you’ve spent days/weeks/months/years/decades trying to get
- Spikes
- Pet Battles
- Dragon races
The list could go on and on, and maybe on again a third time.
Things are looking up around here, maybe you’ll get fancy loot from Bacardi! He does like to spoil you, but only if you scratch his back. In this case literally, he just can’t reach that one spot.
