Upgrading gear gets a little easier during Turbo Boost with Warband-transferable Valorstones

Ah, Valorstones. One of the two cornerstones of The War Within‘s upgrade system, sometimes it seems like your Valorstones are always in the wrong place. If you’re trying to gear up an alt, you’ll find yourself scrabbling for every stone you can find; if you’re raiding regularly, running a lot of Mythic+ dungeons or Delves, or completing Worldsoul Memories (remember those?), you may find yourself repeatedly bumping up against the incredibly limiting 2000 Valorstone cap and end up upgrading things you don’t need just to not waste them. You need them for crafting gear, as well — those Fractured Sparks of Fortunes aren’t going to combine themselves. Always too few or too many — what’s an enterprising WoW player to do about the Valorstone situation?

Well, when Turbo Boost drops on May 13, the answer is “steal from your alts.” Like many other currencies from The War Within and other recent expansions, like Kej, Resonance Crystals, and Flame-Blessed Iron, Valorstones will become transferrable between members of your Warband during the Turbo Boost. To move them around, open your currencies list on the character that you would like to move your Valorstones to, click on Valorstones in the list, and you should see a “Transfer” button that will let you choose what other character in your Warband to borrow them from. (If the character you want to transfer Valorstones to hasn’t earned any yet, you will have to choose “All Warband Transferable” from the dropdown in the currency list first.)

Caveat emptor, however: there is a cost to transferring Valorstones. Much like (oddly enough) Shadowlands legendary currencies like Cosmic Flux, Valorstones have a fairly steep transfer cost of 20% — meaning if you transfer 1000 Valorstones from Character A to Character B, Character B will actually only receive 800 Valorstones and 200 of them disappear into the Twisting Nether for good. Be sure you’re transferring them to the right place, because that’s not a cost you want to incur repeatedly; else, you might find your stock of stones dwindling quickly! You also still cannot exceed the cap of 2000 Valorstones per character. Hopefully the increased rewards for everything during the Turbo Boost means it’ll be easy to refill on Valorstones when you need to, but if you find yourself needing a supply of them pronto during this time of boosted player power, at least you can now turn to the stock that might be sitting on an unplayed alt or two.
