The Queue: Would you rather?

As gamers, we’re no strangers to someone or something asking you the question — would you rather? Would you rather have that power up or this one? Would you rather save Ashley or Kaiden? Would you rather take the hard route or the ultra-nightmare route?

All of this has been on my mind since I found this little tin of pre-written questions at a bookstore event today. It’s just 50 little cards, and there have been some tough ones and not-so-tough ones. Unsurprisingly, my girlfriend, a proud owner of a big St. Bernard, would rather find herself in a room full of giant puppies instead of kittens. Being able to only read the first or last page of every book was a bit of a tougher one, though — I went with the first page, you can build out so much more of a story from there!

Would you rather read the Queue, or take the blue pill, the story ends, you wake up in your bed, and believe whatever you want to believe.

I mean, I know if you’ve come this far, what the likely answer is — let’s Queue!

With 50 questions to go through, I figured I’d include one a week in my Queues for a while — either until I run out, get bored, or y’all tell me you hate them.

Up first: Would you rather be able to remember every little detail of every day of your life or remember your dreams vividly?

Woah, I’m surprised you could even find the heavy leather since — y’know — it’s made of hide…

I’ll understand if you never return after that one, it was udderly awful.

What to play while you’re waiting is easy, though, just go skiing!

SkiFree is a great way to kill several minutes while you uninstall things. Or if you’re waiting for a pot to boil. Really anything can be improved by skiing for your life away from a hungry yeti!

I think he’s just a Pandaren!

A good librarian can find and research almost anything, and he seems pretty motivated to go out and learn as much as he can, so it shouldn’t be hard for him to get a full story from first-hand accounts and recordings of major World (of Warcraft) events. Especially when those events that had us all sworn to secrecy involve building magical statues that play a cinematic of the aforementioned huge secret. Of course, everyone in Dalaran knew that Bolvar was the new Lich King; all they had to do was lean on the fancy new monument!

With the way Carolina has been playing? Yeah, it’s feeling like it’s going to be an Oilers and Panthers rematch. After the thrashing that Florida has given the Hurricanes in their first three matches, Carolina is really going to have to empty the tank to make it to the finals — which I’m all for! I want to see them do the reverse sweep and knock the grin off of Tkachuks’ face. I also want them to come up against the Oilers tired and sore so that we have every opportunity to get revenge for 2006.

On the Western side of things, Edmonton has just put up two really strong games against Dallas, and I’m feeling pretty solid about their chances to get through. Our goaltending has been a bit shaky at times, but Skinner has performed excellently in eight out of nine periods against Dallas so far. He can use that glorious mustache to carry us to victory, I’m sure!

Go Oilers, go!

Play La Bamba, baby!!

Sure it could be already Midnight as we get into it, but I’d bet it’s going to be a gradual reaching of Midnight as the expansion progresses.

Much like the doomsday clock, we’ll start the expansion at 3 minutes to Midnight. Then, with each major patch, we’d get one minute closer, as Xal’atath’s plans are only partially foiled. We’d stop her big plan, but enough of the material would be in place to keep pushing on.

I’d really like to see the final patch and the raid be an all-is-lost moment where our intrepid adventurers finally defeat her, only to look around and realize that her master plan has involved her defeat all along. We’d have won the battle but lost the war, and ended the final patch at our lowest moment, where only the slimmest hope remains to fix Azeroth. I know, it’s a downer ending for an expansion, but it would give the storytelling in The Last Titan a unique place to start from. Heroes on the back foot, and an uphill battle to see victory.

It could all build to a really nice and satisfying triumphant end to the Worldsoul Saga!

I assume that’s the whole point of announcing a trilogy: you need the low point before the big surging highs of final victory. Empire Strikes Back and The Two Towers are good examples of this. The heroes are resolute and will press on, but things haven’t gone smoothly at all. It would be a tough storytelling needle to thread for the Warcraft team, but I feel like they could do it!

As far as I can see! That’s the beauty of being so far removed from 2000s memes, we don’t have to see any of those rage faces!

We’ve come a long way, not super far, but I’d say far enough!

Also, if you’re le tired, you should have a nap. But y’know, fire ze missiles after.
