Join the Wildgate open beta, running from June 9 – June 16, before the full launch on July 22

Moonshot Games, one of the Dreamhaven game development studios, is launching the open beta for their upcoming game, Wildgate, which will begin Monday, June 9 at 9AM pacific time and ending on Monday, June 16 at 5PM pacific time. This is likely one of, if not the last, playtests before Wildgate launches on July 22!
If you’re interested in playtesting Wildgate, here’s what you need to know about the launch and how you can join the open beta!
What do I need to know about the Wildgate launch?
Wildgate will launch on Steam (PC), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on July 22 and cost $29.99 USD, with a slight variations based on region. At this moment, Wildgate’s launch will be entirely digital and while no physical edition is planned, there may be additional digital versions in the future. Pre-downloads will not be enabled for any platform ahead of the games launch either.
How do I join the Wildgate open beta?
If you want to join the open beta simply go to the Wildgate product page on the platform store of your choice and download the open beta client:
For the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the product page will appear as the “Wildgate Community Preview” before June 9 before changing to the “Wildgate Summer Preview” after June 9, if this happens to you don’t worry, they’re the same thing. For players who were part of the previous playtest on Steam (PC), you will need to download a brand new client for this open beta, but returning PS5 and Xbox players will only need to update their existing clients on June 9. This new/updated client file size will be between 8 GB and 9GB depending on your platform.
Only Steam (PC) players only can pre-downloading their new beta client starting June 6 at 4pm pacific time. PS5 and Xbox players will be unable to pre-download/update their beta client until June 9.
What can I expect from the open beta?
The “full” Wildgate game is available for testing, meaning players can join the Tutorial, Firing Range, and 20-player PVPVE matches against other live humans. If you’d rather queue “solo” for the PVPVE matches, you can choose the “Practice vs. AI” mode, though you’ll need at least one other live player on your crew to play. Cross play is supported during the playtest! If you play any time at all during the open beta, you’ll earn the “Pixel Venture” spray as an in-game reward when the game fully launches in July.
Since Wildgate is an online game, servers will be up for entire duration of the testing period with no planned downtime or breaks, though because this is a beta, bugs and crashes could happen. If you encounter any in-game bugs or would like to share feedback, the Dreamhaven team has invited all players to use their Discord or the Wildgate Player Support portal for any help needed.
There are minimum and recommended PC technical specs but these are the only applicable for the Community Preview, meaning some benchmarks may change before the release.
If you weren’t selected in a previous playtesting round, this could be the last testing session Moonshot runs, so if you’re interested in Wildgate now is your chance to try it out!
