This week’s Epic Games Store freebie is The Operator

Investigation game The Operator was released last year on other platforms, but it first appears on the Epic Games Store today. To celebrate, it’s this week’s free game of the week from the Epic Games Store.

I haven’t had the pleasure of playing The Operator just yet, but I’m definitely picking it up because it seems right up my alley. Investigation, a puzzle, solving crime for a legally-distinct-FBI, an in-depth conspiracy wherein you’re cautioned to trust nobody? This game has shades of other investigation games, like Her Story, though with additional elements of gathering and analyzing physical evidence. Sounds too good to be true, and then you throw in the Epic Games Store pricetag and I’m sold.

It’s always tough to tell just how “good” a game like this is going to be before you really dive in, because a lot of the fun is contingent on how the tools you’re given in your investigation work and feel, so I’ll hesitate in giving it a full endorsement. However, between the elevator pitch and the free nature of it all, my weekend is definitely booked.
