How to join Celestial Dungeons in Mists of Pandaria Classic

Celestial Dungeons are an optional, endgame dungeon mode for Mists of Pandaria Classic that is taking the place of the LFR raid tier and will give players more of a challenge by boosting enemy difficulty and integrating different raid mechanics and encounters from the current Mists of Pandaria Classic raid phase.
Blizzard has stated the first Celestial Dungeons will go live two weeks after the Mogu’shan Vaults raid releases on July 31, so players can expect to start running these dungeons around August 14. From there, when new raids are added to Mists Classic, their mechanics and encounters will be added to the Celestial Dungeon rotations two weeks later.
Right now, Celestial Dungeons are available for testing on the Mists Classic beta, so here is everything you need to know about joining one! Just keep in mind, that any number of changes can be made before the full expansion launches.
How do I join and activate a Celestial Dungeon?
In the Mists Classic beta, Celestial Dungeons can only be joined through the automated Group Finder tool but when the expansion goes live, it’s likely this will open up to include pre-made groups too. If you are relying on the Group Finder, you need to meet ilvl 435 prerequisite (which is the same ilvl required for regular Heroic dungeons) to join the queue and eventually a group.
Once you enter the dungeon, you’ll be greeted by the August Celestials who will grant you a buff to help you. There are four August Celestials in total and each one has a different buff to grant based on your preference, though keep in mind this is based on the beta and during the expansion we may see anywhere from only one to all four being available at any given time:
- Blessing of Yu’lon
- Intellect increased by 15%.
- Stamina increased by 5%.
- Damaging spells and abilities inflict Jadefire, burning target for 24,000 damage over 10 sec and increasing their magic damage taken by 5%.
- Can occur once every 4 sec and can stack 5 times.
- Blessing of Niuzao
- Stamina increased by 20%.
- Strength, Agility, and Intellect increased by 10%.
- Dodge, Parry, and Blocks increases your Stamina by 5% and your Strength, Agility, and Intellect by 4%.
- Effect can last 20 sec and stack 20 times.
- Blessing of Chi-ji
- Intellect and Stamina increased by 10%.
- Healing spells and abilities increases ally movement speed by 50%, heals nearby allies for 30,000, and burns nearby enemies for 30,000 Fire damage every 2 seconds for 10 sec.
- Can occur once every 30 seconds.
- Blessing of Xuen
- Strength and Agility increased by 15%.
- Bolt of lightning is hurled at an enemy dealing 10,000 Nature damage and jumps to nearby enemies. Can occur once every 3 sec.
What kind of rewards do I get from Celestial Dungeons?
Players who complete the Celestial Dungeons will earn LFR ilvl gear, now labeled as “Celestial” gear. Celestial Dungeon bosses also have a chance to drop Sigils of Power or Sigils of Wisdom, giving players a chance to progress their Legendary item quest line. A new currency, August Stone Fragment, is earned when you complete a Celestial Dungeon. These Fragments will be capped to begin with but the cap will raise each raid tier.
Each boss drops two Fragments and the final boss will drop three Fragments if all other bosses in the dungeon have been defeated. Four additional Fragments are rewarded for completing your first Celestial Dungeon of the day, with two rewarded upon completing each dungeon after that. Finally, a daily Celestial Dungeon quest that rewards three Fragments can be picked up from Challenger Soong or Challenger Wuli in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms.
August Stone Fragments can be turned into a new vendor, the Avatar of the August Celestials, located in the Shrine of Two Moons and the Shrine of the Seven Stars depending on your faction. This vendor will sell Celestial items for the current and previous raid tiers, tokens for certain Celestial tier items, commendations, and Valor.
Because the raids are on a two-week timer before they join Celestial Dungeons, this same two-week timer will also apply to the vendor’s stock. Eventually when the Terrace of Endless Spring launches, players can purchase an account-bound item called Satchel of Stone Fragments which will give them the ability to transfer August Stone Fragments to their alts.
Remember, any of this can change once the beta ends and when official expansion goes live. If anything does change, we’ll keep you updated!
