A new Souls-like, a cool survival game, 2d adventure cats, and the Destiny DLC are the new gaming releases to explore this week
Hello Watchers, it’s once again Friday and you know what that means — a short weekend before we’re back into the midst of things. This week we’re going to cover two titles that officially launched this week (WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, Abiotic Factor), and two titles that launched last week (Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, Everdeep Aurora). There’s only a tiny bit of controversy on some of these titles, so let’s just dive into it.
Ming Dynasty Souls:WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers
It feels like every month we are getting a new Souls-like, but who am I to complain? WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers has you taking on the role of the amnesiac pirate Wuchang, who is attempting to figure out who she is while navigating the world of Shu and unraveling the mystery of the feathering disease. Fans of Dark Souls 1 should be thrilled to hear that WUCHANG has an interconnected world much like the original Dark Souls title.
It should be noted that some people have been experiencing really awful performance, though a new patch was pushed in the last 24 hours to try and deal with some of the issues. Additionally, the game is being review bombed on Steam by not only folks unhappy with the performance, but also a contingent of the angry Chinese player base. Perhaps give this one a shot on Game Pass if you have it! It’s certainly on my to-do list this weekend.

Survival Half-Life: Abiotic Factor
Abiotic Factor has you playing as a scientist for the corporation of GATE, who has combined all of the greatest minds in the world into a secret organization — nothing could go wrong there — researching the paranormal. Of course, a containment breach happens, the paranormal are out and about, and a secret arcane military branch known as The Order have arrived to clean things up; unfortunately, you are part of the things that need to be cleansed. Build your character, build a base, build your weapons, explore, fight, survive. I also cannot highly recommend a review more than PC Gamer’s review if any of this sounds interesting.
Get Abiotic Factor for $28 on Steam. (Also available on Game Pass)
It’s OK to dig down: Everdeep Aurora
Surprisingly there’s been a resurgence of Game Boy-like titles over the last year or so, and Everdeep Aurora is another take on this 16-bit genre. Apocalyptic meteor showers have forced the world’s population underground, and you — a child cat named Shell — have awoken to find out your mother has vanished. Breaking all the rules of Minecraft, you begin to dig down into the world in an attempt to find your mother, but begin to uncover incredible biomes, zany characters, and hopefully your mom at the end of it all.

Eyes up, Weapon: Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate
I’ve spent darn near every gaming hour of the last week playing The Edge of Fate, and while I’m a long-time Destiny player, I have to say that this plot is truly intriguing. Having spent the last ten years fighting against the forces of Darkness, The Edge of Fate begins a new chapter of the Destiny 2 story line — you are given an invitation to Kepler by one of the mysterious members of The Nine, and when you get there you run into Lodi, a man who is clearly from a different part of time. For brand new players, this is probably the best you’re going to get as a jumping in point: Destiny 2 is notoriously bad at on-boarding new players, but this expansion reset the power curve and pretty much set everyone back to level 1, so as a jumping on point it’s not the worst, though you might be a little lost as to who the major players are. I will say that every night Nick Marino gets my unhinged ramblings of what I’ve been going through, seeing he’s the only other Destiny 2 player I know. Come join us!
Get Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate for $40 on Steam.
