Titan Quest 2 leads the slate of new game releases this week, plus a great PlayStation Store sale

Summer is slowly coming to an end, and Fall should be rolling its way in here soon — but that doesn’t stop the flow of new and exciting games. Alas, this week was fairly light on new, amazing titles (yes, I realize Borderlands 4 just came out, and no, I’m not going to cover it) so I’ve decided to take a look back at some neat titles that came out over the last few weeks that perhaps I missed, and also I wanted to shout out to the PlayStation Sale going on right now as there’s a few really amazing deals there too.

It’s not Ninja Gaiden: SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance

SEGA and SHINOBI are back with the first new title in the series since Shinobi 3D on the Nintendo 3DS back in 2011. Joe Musashi, our shinobi and main character, returns to his village to find it burned to the ground and all of the villagers turned to stone, which means one and only one thing: vengeance. Not a Metroidvania but an action platformer, SHINOBI will have you using kunai, the katana Oborozuki, ninjutsu and Ninpo to defeat your enemies, and bring justice to your fallen friends. If you enjoyed Streets of Rage 4, give this a go.

Get SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance for $30 on Steam.

Giant robots anyone?: Super Robot Wars Y

Remember being a kid and grabbing random toys, bashing them together to see who would be the strongest? Or how in high school you wrote a fanfic about Gundam Wing crossing over with G Gundam and then they came across Macross and — wait, no? That was just me? Okay, well the Super Robot Wars series is basically my high school fanfic, but playable and not as cringy. Super Robot Wars Y is the newest entry in the franchise and one of the best in recent years, bringing with it not only revamped combat, but also redesigned maps, what appears to be a new graphics engine, and some shiny new animations. Can Heero and Lelouch exist in the same universe? Can Shinn Asuka learn from Master Asia? Does anyone understand this game other than me?

Get Super Robot Wars Y for $60 on Steam.

Diablo‘s Rival Returns: Titan Quest 2

Early Access Warning. This game is not in a final release state.

Titan Quest was what happened when you took Diablo, dropped it into a pot of boiling Greek Mythology, then let it simmer for a little while. While perhaps not as well known nowadays as the Diablo franchise is, Titan Quest has been churning out smaller expansions for their original title since its release in 2006 — including as recently as 2021. What sets Titan Quest 2‘s design apart from Diablo 4‘s is that developer Grimlore Games is handcrafting all of their maps, adding in little secrets in the world for players to find — well, that and being able to create your own class my smashing two different masteries together.

With Titan Quest 2 on the horizon, Grim Dawn 2 in the pipeline, a Diablo 4 expansion in the works, and both Last Epoch and Path of Exile 2 getting frequent updates… it’s a good time to like ARPGs.
